Free Software Foundation Premia a Gnu Health Free Software Foundation Premia En Boston El Proyecto De Un Español INICIO CONTACTO EVENTOS SOFTWARE LIBRE - PERÚ Por Admin Tuesday, 27 March a las 11:14:29 Free Software Foundation premia a Gnu Health Free Software Foundation premia en Boston el proyecto de un español Luis Falcón ha desarrollado GNU Health, un sistema de software libre de gestión hospitalaria y de información de la salud BOSTON. 27 de marzo 2012. La Free Software Foundation (Fundación para el software libre FSF) ha otorgado su premio mundial al Mejor Proyecto Social 2011 al español Luis Falcón, que ayer recogió el galardón en Boston en el transcurso de la conferencia anual LibrePlanet 2012. La FSF es la más importante de las organizaciones que se dedican a promocionar el desarrollo y uso del software libre en todas las áreas de la computación. El premio a proyectos de beneficio social ha recaído en anteriores ocasiones sobre Wikipedia o Groklaw así como a Creative Commons. Luis Falcón es el creador del proyecto español GNU Health, un sistema de software libre, escalable y modular, de gestión hospitalaria y de información de la salud. El objetivo del mismo es mejorar la calidad de vida de los más necesitados, mediante un sistema libre que optimiza la promoción de la salud y prevención de la enfermedad. Para Falcón ``educación y salud son los pilares para el desarrollo y dignidad de los pueblos​​. GNU Health es un proyecto de GNU Solidario, organización sin fines de lucro que brinda salud y educación mediante software libre a países en vías de desarrollo. Los dos proyectos principales de GNU Solidario son GNU Health e IWEEE: International Workshop on e- Health in Emerging Economies (http://www.iweee.org/index.html ). Naciones Unidas, junto con su Universidad y el Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) colaboran activamente en la capacitación e implementación de GNU Health en países en vías de desarrollo para mejorar la calidad de vida de sus habitantes. GNU Health es un paquete oficial GNU desde el pasado 29 de agosto de 2011. Eso significa que es software libre en el más amplio sentido del término: se pueda utilizar libremente, y proporciona libertad a los usuarios al carecer de locks digitales. En el campo de la salud este concepto es mucho más relevante dado que, para GNU Solidario, los sistemas de salud e información hospitalarios deberían ser un bien público que no dependan de la voluntad de una empresa. Tienen que ser libre de cualquier lock-ins, para que el usuario que tiene el software pueda utilizarlo, adaptarlo y actualizarlo cuando lo necesite. GNU Solidario quiere compartir el premio con todos los comprometidos con el software libre como herramienta de justicia social y equidad, y con los profesionales de la salud que día a día trabajan para mejorar la vida de los que más lo necesitan. Considering that in contemporary capitalism a significant amount of wealth is created through the application of intellectual effort to existing knowledge to produce new, higher compositions of knowledge that can be privately monetized as intellectual property, the challenge that Free Software might present to capitalism is bound to have important transformational potential.
