DISTRICT AT A GLANCE There are five talukas in district. according to the census there was 711 villages for the purpose of Rural Development. the main crop grown in district is paddy. stretches over an area of 4526 Sq.Km. area and has a population of 11,77,345 of which 15.60% were urban (as of 2011). One of twelve shrines, the is located in Hingoli district. As of 2011 it is the third least populous district of (out of 36)] after Sindhudurg and . Location and Geographical Area :- Hingoli district lies between 19.05 to 20.05 North Latitude and 76.30 to 77.30 East longitudes. The Kayadhu and Purna rivers bound the major part of the district. Hingoli district situated in a Godavari Basin. It has common boarder on North with and Buldhana , due East Yawatmal And due south Nanded and , due east Parbhani and Jalana. The total area of district is is 4827 Sq. Km. whichnis about 1.60% of the the total area of Maharashtra state. B. Geology and Geography District Hingoli is member of the division of Maharashtra state. it lies in Godavari basin and falls under the Painganaga basin with Kayadhu-Purna sub-basin. 598 mts is highest point from msl in Mal Hiwara village of Hingoli tahsil while on the other hand 400 mts is lowest point which lies in Wasmath tahsil of district. mal Hiwara hill range seperates the Kayadhu and Purna river basins. Due to erosion and weathering of adjacent hills and rock thick alluvium is found in some places. In district Deccan trap having horizontal layers of basalt are predominant. No other major minerals are found in district. C. Avaibility of Minerals No major minerals and valuable minerals are occurred in Hingoli district. Because of Deccan trap basalt on which Hingoli district settled only following minor minerals are found in the district. C1. River Sand River Kayadhu, RIver Purna and River Painganga are the major river of Hingoli district which provide adequate quantity of river sand. Last year total demand of sand of district is approximately 10,000 bras and total production of river sand is 11,110 bras. C2. Murrum, Black Stone and Soil During year 2016-17 adequate quantity of this minor minerals are produced in the Hingoli district total production is given in following table. D. Forest During year 2011, an estimated 291 Sq. Km. area was under forest which constituted 12.06% of the total area. Forest resources contribute significantly to the economy of district. Most of vegetation in district are Sag, Dhawada, Aian, Khair, Mahua and Tembhurni are the populated trees in district. Whereas raj, rosha are the grass verity which found in good quantity in district. Main resources of forest are Tendupatta, Dink and seasonable collection of Charoli from forest.
