Languages: English Extent: 23 pieces Collection number: 2011.002 Repository: Department of Archives and Special Collections, University Libraries, Loma Linda University Biographical / Historical Note Genevieve Webber Hastings was born on October 15, 1861, in New Ipswich, New Hampshire and died on October 29, 1961, also in New Ipswich, New Hampshire. At the age of fifteen she was baptized into the Seventh‐day Adventist faith by Elder S. N. Haskell. She graduated at nineteen from Appleton Academy in New Ipswich and taught school for the next 10 years. She married Frederick A. Hastings, son of Leonard Hastings, on November 27, 1890 . Following his death in 1918, she returned to teaching. She spent the last 30 years of her life in New Ipswich welcoming tour groups who came to view the places where the Seventh‐day Adventist church began, including Leonard Hastings’ potato patch.
