POSITION SUMMARY: Performs the functions of a assistant in carrying out all assignments given by the RN or LPN in charge of the unit. Is accountable for all care he/she gives during a shift. REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Eighth grade education or equivalent License/Certification: None

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist with routine nursing care and treatment procedures in accordance with established Bowdle Healthcare Center policies and procedures.

2. Assist the nurse in charge in implementing nursing care, recognizes and responds to priorities in giving nursing care.

3. Assist in admission, transfer, and discharge procedures of .

4. Performs and documents vitals with accuracy and reports abnormalities immediately to nurse in charge.

5. Anticipates patient's needs and responds to call lights promptly.

6. Reports any change in patient's status giving pertinent data relating to patients condition in an accurate, concise manner.

7. Able to adapt to change in work load or patient tasks.

8. Receive report from previous shift regarding pertinent patient information.

9. Knows and understands role of nurse aide - seeking guidance and direction as necessary; Receptive to constructive critique or advice from other staff.

10. Maintains a clear, safe environment for patients and co-workers.

11. Knows emergency procedures for fire, internal/external disaster plans, code red, and participates in drills. 12. Attends required in-service program and staff meetings. If unable to attend meetings, reads minutes.

13. Conforms to established facility personnel policies.

14. Stays available and accessible at all times when on duty.

15. Displays a positive attitude towards work and patients.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: Primary Physical Requirements LIFT up to 10 lbs.: Frequently when lifting charts, supplies, etc.

OTHER CONSIDERATION AND REQUIREMENTS: Work Hazards: Risk of being exposed to communicable or infectious and back strain if proper safety precautions are not followed.
