Cuimsíonn an Plean céimeanna indéanta a tugadh chun cinn trí réimse clár agus tionscnamh polasaí ar a n-áirítear: Céimeanna neamhstruchtúrtha um chosc agus ullmhacht priacal tuile atá infheidhme ar bhonn náisiúnta, dírithe ar thionchair thuilte a laghdú, a tugadh agus atá á dtabhairt chun cinn chun polasaí Rialtais um bainistiú priacal tuile a fheidhmiú (OPW, 2004). Work began on the downstream end of each box and every stone likely to support Hydropsyche pupal cases was examined. Any such cases found were removed, opened and discarded if nothing was found. Suspect cases were placed in a tray of river water for further examination, and those which contained or were suspected of containing larvae or pupae of E. crassipes were preserved in 75 % alcohol.     A History of the O’Shea Clan (July 2012) At the beginning of the second millennium in the High Kingship of Brian Boru, there were three distinct races or petty kingdoms in what is now the County of Kerry. In the north along the Shannon estuary lived the most ancient of these known as the Ciarraige, reputed to be descendants of the Picts, who may have preceded the first Celts to settle in Ireland. On either side of Dingle Bay and inland eastwards lived the Corcu Duibne1 descended from possibly the first wave of Celtic immigration called the Fir Bolg and also referred to as Iverni or Erainn. Legend has it that these Fir Bolg, as we will see possibly the ancestors of the O’Shea clan, landed in Cork. Reputedly small, dark and boorish they settled in Cork and Kerry and were the authors of the great Red Branch group of sagas and the builders of great stone fortresses around the seacoasts of Kerry. Finally around Killarney and south of it lived the Eoganacht Locha Lein, descendants of a later Celtic visitation called Goidels or Gaels. Present Kerry boundary (3) (2) (1) The territories of the people of the Corcu Duibne with subsequent sept strongholds; (1) O’Sheas (2) O’Falveys (3) O’Connells The Eoganacht Locha Lein were associated with the powerful Eoganacht race, originally based around Cashel in Tipperary. By both military prowess and political skill they had become dominant for a long period in the South of Ireland, exacting tributes from lesser kingdoms such as the Corcu Duibne.

This annual report maps trends in the stocks of salmon and sea trout since 2001 from both the commercial and recreational fisheries sectors. This report provides valuable information to fisheries’ managers, scientists, policy makers and legislators and assists in the design and implementation of policies and strategies for the conservation of salmon and sea trout stocks in Ireland. The 2009 statistics show that the total number of salmon harvested by all methods was 24,278 – which represent a decrease of 22% on the total harvest recorded in 2008 . 2009 proved a difficult year for both anglers and commercial fishermen with the deterioration in catches due to unfavourable fishing conditions, high water levels, marine survival rates and some late fish runs at key fishing periods. The 2009 commercial catch was 6,757 salmon and 45 sea trout (over 40 cm) which was only 37% of the Total Allowable Catch (TAC) allocated to the sector.

    SITE SYNOPSIS Site Name: Castlemaine Harbour SAC Site Code: 000343 This is a large site located on the south-east corner of the Dingle Peninsula, Co. Kerry. It consists of the whole inner section of Dingle Bay, i.e. Castlemaine Harbour, the spits of Inch and White Strand/Rosbehy and a little of the coastline to the west. The River Maine, almost to Castlemaine, and much of the River Laune catchment, including the Gaddagh, Gweestion, Glanooragh, Cottoner’s River and the River Loe, are also included within the site. The site is a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) selected for the following habitats and/or species listed on Annex I / II of the E.U. The system used for data collection was a Kongsberg EM3002 system. CARIS Hips and Sips 8.1 was used to post-process the data and create 2D and 3D study area off the SW bathymetric surfaces. The area of study is located within Dingle Bay and immediately south of the Blasket Islands where the seafloor ranges from a depth of 20 to 100 m. Blasket coast of Ireland. Dingle Islands Rocky outcrops throughout the bay are oriented in a NE-SW direction indicative of compression forces acting NW-SE.
