Brother Knights, As with all of our programming, family activities are changing along with the transition to Faith in Action. Moreover, the formerly-known-as youth activities and their chairmen are now also Family Programs. Our goal is the same: ours is a Catholic, family, fraternal, service Order, and my team focuses on the family part of that slogan, providing activities and recognition for families to pray, serve, play and grow together, now including through programs that engage our youth and build and reward academic and athletic skills. Family activities are how we support families, how we strengthen and build better families, how we teach and engage our families, how we encourage families to be alive and live the Catholic faith with joy and love for one another. They are how we attract young men with new families to our Order. Men of all ages who work long hours and come home don’t want to leave their families again to be with the Knights, they want to bring their families and be with the Knights. Bring your family with you to Knights’ activities and see how we make you a better husband and a better father, then join us, and we provide even more —the example of the many, many other friendly, faithful Catholic families across our state I’ve met as a consequence of being a Knight. • Screening, Testing and Performance Enhancement in the Terminal
Screening, Testing and Performance Enhancement in the Terminal Many clinicians in general outpatient orthopedic and sports rehabilitation facilities struggle with late-stage progressions as well as testing to determine physical readiness for not only return to play but also for return to performance. The average clinician is limited by space and equipment limitations that make testing and performance training a challenge. Complicating matters further are athletes that have limited visits due to financial or insurance limitations. Day one of this two-day course is focused on the screening and testing of the athlete recovering from upper or lower extremity pathology with evidence-based, clinically useful measures to determine physical readiness for not only return to play, but also return to performance and transitioning back to strength and conditioning activities. An in-depth analysis of the physical qualities of performance as well as how to best train these qualities will be discussed as well as program design considerations for the athlete. On day two, the emphasis will shift to ACL rehabilitation. The data on ACL return to sport is clear – re-tear rates are high, they return with poor strength, and the percentage of athletes who return to sport are less than ideal. Day two will highlight best practices from beginning to end of the ACL rehabilitation continuum. Date: March 13 & 14, 2020 Time: 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Friday and 7:00 a.m.—4:00 p.m. Saturday Location: Grand Valley State University’s DeVos Center, 401 Fulton St West, Grand Rapids, Room 119E Presented By: Daniel Lorenz, DPT, PT, ATC, LAT, CSCS Cost: $300/GVSU PT alumni and DPT clinical instructors; $350/all others Dan Lorenz, DPT, PT, ATC, LAT, CSCS is the Director of Sports Medicine at Lawrence Memorial Hospital/OrthoKS in Lawrence, KS.

  • Since Blazing Into a New Era with the Opening of the Colorado Springs
Since blazing into a new era with the opening of the Colorado Springs World Arena in January 1998, Tiger Hockey has continued to solidify its position among the nation’s most elite Division I programs. With six league titles, 16 home-ice playoff berths and a dozen NCAA tournament bids tucked away since 1994, Colorado College keeps adding chapter after chapter to its fabled history. CC’s recent string of success, which includes last season’s appearance in the national quarterfinals preceded by trips to the “Frozen Four” in 1996, 1997 and 2005, speaks volumes for the modern-day version of a program that has spanned eight decades. Sure, when Scott Owens took over as head coach in 1999, he inherited a perennial powerhouse. But where does the tale really begin? How has little Colorado College, a private liberal arts and sciences college with an enrollment of less than 2,000 students, maintained such elite status in a sport filled with Division I giants? TWO CONCEPTS COME TO MIND: Tradition. From its pre-World War II roots, to its hosting of the first 10 NCAA Tournaments and co-founding of the WCHA, the school has influenced college hockey's growth from infancy. Commitment. Proving that academic and athletic excellence can co-exist in a small campus environment, CC has relied on vision, hard work and creativity to revive a program that many others nationwide now envy. THE EARLY YEARS Colorado College Hockey got its start in January of 1938, when the Broadmoor Hotel converted its seldom-used indoor riding academy into an ice rink.

While doing so, we will provide extraordinary customer service and safety standards which will provide a memorable experience for all Rushmore Plaza Civic Center guests. A Message from the Director As we celebrated our forty-first year of operation our focus was on investing and preparing ourselves for the future. In June of 2018, we saw the citizens of Rapid City overwhelmingly “Vote Yes” on a $130 million expansion project for the facility. This expansion will not only provide us with a venue that has the seating capacity many events are looking for, but it will be an extremely flexible venue for all of our events. It will feature dimensions that are compatible with touring shows, tournaments, rodeos, and trade shows. The booking potential of this expansion will open up the current diminishing abilities of the Barnett Arena and secure the Civic Center’s future for the next several decades. We cannot thank Mayor Allender, the people who worked tirelessly on the campaign, and the general public for their support and engagement.
