Proceed through passport control, retrieve your luggage & continue through customs to the arrivals hall. (D) Day 2, Sunday, Catania – Syracuse – Modica – Ragusa: This morning after breakfast at the hotel, depart for Syracuse to visit the most beautiful Greek colony of Sicily. Visit the archeological park “Neapolis”, the famous Latomie of Paradise, the Greek Theatre, and Dyonisios’ Ear. Then proceed to the island of Ortigia, the small baroque historical center or Syracuse: here you’ll find the Cathedral and the Temple of Apollo. Lunch on your own. In the afternoon you will continue to Modica located in southeast Sicily. Nestled in the Hyblean Mountains, Modica is known for its spectacular views, impressive Baroque architecture- designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, locally produced chocolate the Cioccolato di Modica, and steep staircases. Visit a working chocolate factory and learn the techniques involved in producing this renowned chocolate. Dinner and overnight in Ragusa. (B, D) Day 3, Monday, Ragusa – Piazza Armerina – Agrigento: After a buffet breakfast, depart for Piazza Armerina to visit the world reknown Villa Romana del Casale, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, thanks to its well-preserved mosaics depicting mythological themes and hunting scenes. Lunch in a local restaurant with a special menu chosen to give you the opportunity to taste local specialties. Depart to Agrigento; your visit of this hillside town, famous for its magnificent Valley of the Temples will include a guided tour of the Valley. Dinner and overnight in Agrigento. (B, L, D) Day 4, Tuesday, Agrigento – Palermo – Monreale: Before heading off to Palermo today, enjoy breakfast at your hotel. This special day will be dedicated to discovering the capital of Sicily, Palermo. But first en- route stop in Monreale and visit Cathedral, one of the most beautiful monuments in Moorish architecture. It houses very fine mosaics representing a complete cycle of the Old and New Testaments. Then a visit of the Benedictine Cloister in Arab-Norman style. Proceed to Palermo to visit the historical center, the Cathedral, the Palace of the Normans and its superb Palatine Chapel. While exploring the historic centre you will also have the opportunity to sample Palermo’s famous street food. Dinner and overnight in Palermo. (B, L D) Day 5, Wednesday, Palermo – Erice – Marsala – Palermo: After breakfast at the hotel, depart for the medieval village of Erice, located on top of a hill overlooking the city of Trapani and the Egadi Islands. Walk through its tiny and characteristic streets, the winding lanes and, inner courtyards. Continue to Marsala, a city on the western coast, famous of its production of sweet Sicilian wine. There, visit a prestigious winery for a guided tour & wine tasting (white, red & Marsala) with local food pairings. Next, head down to the Trapani area for a panoramic tour of the salt windmills and basins which are still in use. Return to Palermo. Dinner on your own, Overnight in Palermo. (B, L) Day 6, Thursday, Palermo – Cefalu – Nebrodi Park – Taormina: Once again, this morning have breakfast at your hotel before setting out for Cefalu, a former fishing village and now a charming coastal town. Enjoy a walk to the city center and down Main Street to reach the Arab-Norman Cathedral and the medieval wash-house built in the rock. Drive through the Park of “Nebrodi” and stop at the Miraglia Forest for lunch with a typical menu. Continue to Cesarò, Randazzo, and visit the Etna park from an unusual point of view - the north facing side - surrounded by beautiful landscapes. Dinner and overnight in Taormina.
