  • The Footy Foodbank Tour Spring – Summer 2021
The Footy Foodbank Tour Spring – Summer 2021 Collecting donations for Foodbanks across the North The Motivation To Turf Moor To Bramall Lane Supporting Football Foodbanks To Elland Road To the Keepmoat Stadium To Old Trafford Footy Foodbank Tour Introduction 3 Its such a tragedy of our times that we live in a country that has one of the richest economies yet there has been a dramatic rise in the reliance on Foodbanks. There are now twice as many Foodbanks as there are McDonalds. We first met Dave and Ian and the crew at Fans Supporting Foodbanks as part of a Hillsborough 30th Anniversary Tribute walk in April 2019. The work that they do and the support they get at every Everton or Liverpool home match is quite humbling. On the same event, we also supported the Leeds United Fans Foodbank manned by another group of selfless individuals. Its fair to say that the concept of foodbanks linked to Football clubs is becoming very common. There are many teams across Yorkshire and Lancashire and the north east who are actively supporting foodbanks. We wondered what we could do to help. As the season finishes in mid May for 3 months, the opportunities to collect from crowds disappear for a quarter of the year. However hunger doesn’t disappear. So our plan is to stage an event, a challenge that brings together supporters of many clubs to stage collections of food on one weekend in the close season. Lets show our support. Please get behind this venture. Mike Wilson Steve Wood Liverpool fan Leeds United fan Redwood Events Redwood Events Footy Foodbank Tour 4 Collecting for the Foodbanks Many charity walks are all about fundraising, getting people to part with cash in support of worthy BEST ITEMS TO DONATE causes.

Getting To Football 2021-22 August 2021 Edition Andy Edwards Andy Edwards 17 Catherine Street Rochester Kent ME1 2HJ [email protected] Most of the content of this work is in the public domain. The remainder of the content, and the presentation of the information, is © Andy Edwards 2021. The cover image is © Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum 2019. Introduction Welcome back to Getting To Football! When I put out the last edition in March 2020, little did I know that it would be almost eighteen months before the next edition. As I write, there is reasonable confidence that football will be almost back to nornal in the 2021-22 season, although it certainly cannot be ruled out that this may change – and if there’s going to be a game, it remains the job of Getting To Football to get you there! For various reasons – mostly related either to procrastination or to cricket - this edition has been prepared with a shorter lead time than usual. This means that not all of the usual content is present; this edition covers only football in England from the Premier League down to Step 6, the top two levels of football in Northern Ireland, the top five levels in Scotland, and the top two levels in Wales. The lower levels in Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales will return in the October edition together with hockey and rugby union. Football in Ireland, Gaelic football, hurling, rugby league, and shinty play summer seasons and will return in good time for their 2022 seasons. In another minor change for this edition, I’ve turned the font size up a bit.
