Asian Studies Summer Program is a six-week program at Kansai Gaidai University. It offers invaluable experiences to students interested in learning Japanese language and culture with exciting student organized activities in Kyoto and Osaka.
Earn transfer credit to satisfy up to two GNED courses (diploma) or lower level breadth elective courses (degree) from Humber by studying: - Japanese Language (Note: Pre-requisite of one semester of college level Japanese or the equivalent is required) - Introduction to Asian Studies Must be approved in advance by your Program Coordinator.

Kansai Gaidai University is located in Hirakata City, midway between Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan and Osaka, the second-largest business hub in Japan. The program content consists of two courses; Japanese language and Introduction to Asian Studies. These courses lay a foundation for understanding the culture and its people and will cover topics such as Japanese Culture and International Relations. Field trips and student organized activities will add beneficial hands-on experiences to your learning.
Included • Airport pick-up service • Accommodations in brand new international student dormitory during program dates • Some cultural activities may include, but are not limited to: field trips to historical sites, or businesses, etc. • Travel health insurance for the program dates, arranged by Humber • Summer tuition fees are waived at Humber and normal tuition will be due for Fall 2019 semester
Not Included • Round trip airfare (book your own flights) • Incidentals, spending money • Baggage and trip cancellation insurance, if desired • Students who are not Canadian citizens may be required to apply for an entry visa • Humber transfer credit fees ($25.00 per course, upon completion)
