General The Deccan Traps or Deccan Basalt or Basalt form an excellent building stone and are used in variety of ways. The largest use is as road-metal and railway ballast . In northern , Deccan Trap extensively spreads in the districts of , Bijapur, Bidar & Gulbarga. a small Village in Ramadurg Taluk, Belgaum District has Building Stone(Basalt) deposit which is well exposed. shri. Belgaum District, has a Quarry Lease, QL.No.1505, over an extent of 2-00Acre (0.81Ha), in the Survey No. 10/1, PattaLand, to quarry Building Stone(Basalt).

Department of Mines & Geology has asked the Lessee to submit Mining Plan and Environment Clearance which is customary. Hence, The Quarrying plan is prepared under Karnataka Minor Mineral Concession Rules, 1994 &Building Stone Conservation Rules, 1999, for 5 years(for the period 2014-15 to 2018-19).
