THIS WEEK IN SPIRIT HOCKEY:

On Friday night, the Saginaw Spirit (23-18-4-0) continued the last game of their road trip as they traveled to Kitchener to face the Rangers (32-14-2-0). This game ended the Spirit's longest road stand of the . Friday's game marked the third of four meetings between the Spirit and Rangers. Saginaw Spirit Head Coach Troy Smith returned to the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium to face his former team. Mason Kohn also entered the game as a former Kitchener Ranger before going to and now with the Spirit. A goal early on from Ryan Stepien would give the Spirit a 1-0 lead, but Kitchener struck back with five unanswered goals. Kohn scored giving the Spirit a three- goal deficit, which was erased with Kole Sherwood's 3rd goal of the night. The Spirit fell 6-2 in their last road game of a three-day, three-game weekend.

On Saturday night, the Saginaw Spirit (24-18-4-0) hosted the for a West Division matchup at The . Windsor opened the scoring in the first period, but Saginaw earnestly responded with four unanswered goals, including a stretch of three goals in 23 seconds. This early burst carried the team to a 4-1 lead after 20 minutes. In the second period, Windsor generated two goals, one which was assisted by the goal post and another that came about after a defensive zone turnover. Still, Saginaw entered the third period with a 4-3 lead and hung on to win 6-5 despite a late Spitfires charge. Jake Goldowski recorded two goals, his first multi-goal game as a member of the Spirit, and Marcus Crawford added three assists in the contest. Saginaw outshot Windsor 34-24 in the contest.

On Sunday night, the Saginaw Spirit (24-19-4-0) welcomed the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (40-5-2-1) to The Dow Event Center. The Soo started the game with three goals early on in the first period. Jake Goldowski earned the first Spirit goal of the game on a penalty shot in the first period. Ryan Roth answered 14 seconds last to reinstate the Soo three-goal advantage. Jake Goldowski notched back-to-back two-goal nights with a second period tally to make it 4-2. The Hounds would add an empty net goal from Taylor Raddysh in the dying seconds. The Spirit fell 5-2 in their last game of a three game weekend.

NEXTEER PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Nexteer Automotive presents "Player of the Week": Saginaw Spirit forward, #42 Jake Goldowski.

The Pennsylvania native, joined the Spirit Organization mid-season in December. He has played in a total of 22 games, recording a total of 8 games and 5 assists. This past weekend the 6 foot 3 forward found the back of the net 4 times. Congrats on the great week Jake and keep it up!

The cost to participate in this fun evening is $50 per person, Lane sponsorship's available for $200, with proceeds going towards the Children's Dyslexia Center in Bay City and the Saginaw Spirit Charitable foundation.
