CERTIFICATE OF AUDITOR-GENERAL The accounts of the Housing Commission. Victoria, have been audited for the year ended 30th June, 1966, by officers acting under my direction. For the purpose of the audit, the detailed examinations and checks carried out by the Commission's Internal Audit staff have been accepted by my officers. In my opinion, subject to comments in the Housing Commission section of my Supplementary Report for the year 1965-66 to the Legislative Assembly, including- (i) the question of the justification for the transfer from Land Realization Reserve to Accumulated Surplus of $123,388.79, being realized profits 011 land sold for residential purposes and accounted for as capital profits in the financial years from 1st July, 1961 to 30th June, 1965, for which years the final accounts have previously been certified by the Auditor-General;

(ii) the inconsistency in the accounting for profits realized in the year on land sales-···· profits on residential sales beim? credited to revenue instead of, as in previous years, to Land Realization Reserve and profits on other sales credited, as in previous years, to Land Realization Reserve; ami (iii) the question of the justification for the appropriation of $300,000, from the profit on House Sale>, for Slum Reclamation and Clearance of Areas;

the Balance Sheet, Appendix "A", fairly represellfs the financial position of the Commission as at 30th June, 1966, and the accompanying General Revenue Account, Appendix "B", properly summarises the financial operations of the Commission for the year.
