Alpine and Snowboard Paralympic Games Training Site: Sites were established in for athletes to train prior and during the 2018 Games. The goal was enhanced training time and athlete focus with funding covering hill space, lodging and transportation. It allowed athletes to get on snow, get over jetlag, get acclimated and focus on the upcoming competitions more quickly.

Snowboard World Cup Finals: With financial assistance from Adaptive Spirit, the team hosted a World Cup. They partnered with the DEW Tour, the biggest snowboard competition in North America. This partnership created interest and promoted the sport prior to the Paralympics. Funding covered event cost, team participation and housing.

Snowboard Prosthetics: Funding for this initiative began during the 2016-2017 fiscal year building a relationship with the snowboard team’s prosthetic manufacturer to supply competition prosthetics. The funds requested were used to purchase the equipment for the athletes.

Nordic Sit Ski Innovation: This originally super-secret project began during the 2015-2016 fiscal year. In order to maintain the competitive edge against other countries, funding was granted with the goal of achieving innovations in design including strength, lightweight materials and aerodynamic properties. This multi-faceted project provided benefits for the 2018 Games but the long term goal is to gain podium potential for developing athletes. By continuously updating the design and structure of the frames, the hope is to use this as an advantage at all future games.

As Adaptive Sprit looks to its 24th year, the committee and board members continue to build on prior experience successes. Changes and consolidations within the telecommunications industry have not dampened the wide-ranging support for the event, nor has it had any effect on the attendance year after year. In order to continue receiving robust support, Adaptive Spirit’s Annual Event will build on the investigation and promotion of adaptability products in the telecom industry.
