Jesus expects his disciples to walk in his footsteps. But Jesus always invites us to share in his ministry, never forces us. At the Ascension, Jesus commissioned his disciples to proclaim the gospel. At first this might seem an impossible commission: how can we expect to fill Jesus’ footsteps? On our own authority we cannot preach the gospel, we can fill Jesus’ footsteps only when we hear “the instructions given through the Spirit.” What an awesome honor it is to be disciples of Christ – by returning to his rightful place at the hand of God, Jesus entrusts his mission to us.

During the first weekend of each month, the Saint Vincent de Paul Society will collect non- perishable food for its pantry. Items may be placed in the blue barrel outside the church building at the Dakin Street exit for those not attending worship in person. Items may be placed in the blue barrel inside the church building at the Dakin Street exit during that time, or any time that the church is open.

The Saint Vincent de Paul Society collects gently used clothes and shoes at drop boxes located at Our Lady Mother of the Church, 8747 W. Lawrence and Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity, 6020 W. Ardmore. Please put items in a durable plastic bag; no boxes please.

Our Lady of Victory Parish is distributing food on Wednesdays starting at 5:00 PM in the church parking lot located near Sunnyside and Laramie. If there are five Wednesdays in the month, food is not distributed on the fifth Wednesday. Anyone interested should arrive no earlier than 4:30 PM and no later than 5:30 PM.
