26th February 2020

Dear Parent/Carer Next Thursday 5th March is St. Piran’s Day and we would like to invite Year 3 pupils to take part in the town’s celebrations. At the academy this week, pupils will be learning songs and dances ready to perform both at the academy and in the town procession event taking place on Thursday 5th March. At 4pm on the 5th March pupils will assemble at the Hotel Victoria to join the St Piran’s Day Parade through the town, led by the Cornish Piper, the Town Cryer and accompanied by children from other schools. The parade will finish at The Walkabout, located above Towan Beach. From 4.30pm until 5.30pm, children will take part in a ‘Schools Ceilidh’ (pronounced Caylie) ‘Troyll Yowynk An Kerdh-Ardo’. School groups, choirs and dancers from all of the Newquay Schools will be able to show their skills and help celebrate St. Piran’s Day. Pupils will need to be dressed in academy uniform and wear a warm, waterproof coat to the event. As the parade and performance are out of academy hours, pupils will only be able to take part if accompanied by an adult (over 18) who will bring them to the Hotel Victoria to meet with academy staff. Adults must then accompany their child during the parade to The Walkabout and remain for the performance, then take their child/children home at the conclusion of the event. Please indicate below if you and your child will be able to attend and participate, please specify the name of the adult to be present and responsible for your child/children throughout the whole event. We look forward to your company and thank you for your continued support. Yours sincerely, Miss Robinson and the Year 3 Team.
