I've read this a few times before. Each time I do, it reignites the desire in me to keep going after God. Having had some experiences myself when just the smallest amount of God's presence invaded the place nothing as large as Tenney describes in chapter 1there's the sense I have that there MUST be more than what I've experienced to this point. Fresh encouragement to continue in the pursuit View 2 comments. Feb 07, Christa added it. If you want to get closer to the God you read about in the Bible this boook is a God Chasers: My Soul Follows Hard After Thee read. WE read about our God with a thousands of years ago mind frame but the God of the Old testament IS the God of and he is waiting for us to seek truly after Him and in our seeking He will show us His face I need to read it again :- C. Shelves: chrisitan-living. I have heard much about The God Chasers book written by Tommy Tenney over the years and have intended to read it for some time. So, when I finally had the chance, I downloaded a digital copy and prepared to be inspired and encouraged to chase after God for all He's worth. In short, let me begin by saying that there are many things I liked about the book, but when an author teaches bad doctrine, it's hard to put a stamp of approval on such a book. I agree with Tenney that "God is just waiting to b I have heard much about The God Chasers book written by Tommy Tenney over the years and have intended to read it for some time. I agree with Tenney that "God is just waiting to be caught by someone whose hunger exceeds his grasp. I also agree that the American church is largely comfortable in sin and is more willing to cling to it's religious routine than seek after God and His holiness. These are the things I like about the book Have you ever read a book and get the idea that the author is running out of things to say? I felt this way with The God Chasers. Tenney made his point He speaks of repentance and brokenness There were simply no steps given in which to accomplish these things. Secondly, and most important, Tenney's view of evangelism is seriously flawed. He states, when speaking of non- Christians, "The bottom line is that people are sick of church because the Church has been somewhat less than what the Book advertised! People want to connect with a higher power! Their hunger drives them everywhere but the Church. I think Tenney has overlooked the God Chasers: My Soul Follows Hard After Thee that says our hearts are "deceitfully wicked above all things" and that unless we are born again, we never truly desire God. The Bible says that "none seek after God", that every heart is wicked and the unsaved "drink iniquity in like water". Truth is, non-Christians reject church because they reject God. Romans 1 says that every person sins with conscience, knowing that they are offending God. There's no way around it Tenney then goes on to say God Chasers: My Soul Follows Hard After Thee if we finally allow God into our churches, and His power moves mightily, that the unsaved will flock to our churches and they will be busting at the seems paraphrased. Why does the author overlook the command to "Go into all the world and preach the gospel"? This is the way we are commanded to evangelize. Biblically, we are called to preach sin and repentance, and then offer cleansing and forgiveness through Christ for those that repent. Having great church services with God's presence is great We must be obedient to the Word of God and DO what we are called to do BOTH are required to bring about genuine revival in America Lastly, God Chasers: My Soul Follows Hard After Thee author makes idiotic statements God Chasers: My Soul Follows Hard After Thee "I'm afraid that we have satiated our hunger for Him by reading old love letters from Him to the churches in the Epistles of the New Testament. These are good, holy, and necessary, but we never have intimacy with Him. We have stifled our hunger for His presence by doing things for Him. Isn't Jesus the Word made flesh? Aren't the two things one in the same? One cannot separate God from God Chasers: My Soul Follows Hard After Thee Word that goes forth because they are the same thing. The Word is essential God does not and will never contradict His Word. Church services don't change lives, but God's Word does. The author needs to recant of putting God's Word on a lower shelf and from placing experiences over it. There are several smaller issues I take with the book, but it would be redundant to mention them here. Overall, I like the premise of the book, but the doctrine is atrocious and taxing, to say the least. I once told someone that when it comes to books like these, "I can eat the chicken and spit out the bones. May I humbly suggest skipping this boney little chicken and perhaps dining on a steak dinner prepared by A. Tozer, Leonard Ravenhill, J. Ryle, or the like? There's much better fare available to the discerning reader who is famished for more of God and His presence. The God Chasers: My Soul Follows Hard After Thee - Tommy Tenney - Buku Google

Fire doesn't fall on empty alters. There has to be a sacrifice on the alter for the fire to fall. If you want the fire of God, you must become the fuel of God. Worship and spiritual hunger make you so attractive to God that your circumstances cease to matter anymore. He will move heaven and earth to find a worshiper. When you begin to worship God Chasers: My Soul Follows Hard After Thee all your being and desire, your heart turns Him toward you. You capture His attention and attracts His affection. Your problems aren't too big -- perhaps your worship is too small. The difference between the truth of God and revelation is very simple. Truth is where God's been. Revelation is where God is. Truth is God's tracks. It's His trail, His path, but it leads to what? It leads to Him. Perhaps the masses of people are happy to know where God's been, but true God chasers are not content just to study God's trail, His truths; they want to know Him. They want to know where He is and what He's doing right now. God Chasers are people whose passion for being in His presence press them to chase the impossible in hopes that the uncatchable might catch them! With relationship comes access, and with intimacy comes influence. But a man with an experience is never at the mercy of a man God Chasers: My Soul Follows Hard After Thee only an argument. If we can lead people into the manifest presence of God, all false theological houses of cards will tumble down. God is more interested in developing your character than keeping you comfortable. Being a servant will take you places where your talent will never take you. Ironically, it was the father's blessing that actually "financed" the prodigal son's trip away from the Father's face! Sometimes we use the very blessings that God gives us to finance our journey away from the centrality of Christ. It's very important that we return back to ground zero, to the ultimate eternal goal of abiding with the Father's in intimate communion. Whatever impresses you attracts you. Whatever you pursue becomes your purpose. We think revival means a silver-tongued preacher, some good music, and a few folks who decide they're going to join the church. Real revival is when people are eating at a restaurant or walking through the mall when they suddenly begin to weep and turn to their friends and say, I don't know what's wrong with me, but I know I've got to get right with God. God doesn't hide Himself from you so that He can't be found; He hides Himself from you so that He can be found. By studying the Bible one can at best know about God. There is a vast difference between knowing God and knowing about God. Knowing God comes through direct power encounters and through biblical study. These power encounters are usually of a variety which cannot be found within God Chasers: My Soul Follows Hard After Thee context of the dusty moldy pages of God's past tracks. We need Jesus every moment of every day. To say anything else is ludicrous. A true God chaser is not happy with just past truth; he must have present truth. God chasers don't want to just study from the moldy pages of what God has done; they're anxious to see what God is doing. Mary God Chasers: My Soul Follows Hard After Thee a virgin and he Bible says that she 'found favor' - that means there must have been others in the race. What quality did she have that made a depository of the royal seed? There have always been dreamers. Men and women who catch a glimpse of something beyond themselves who dare to reach for goals and visions. Yet no earthly dreamer can match the greatest of them all, the Dreamer who died on the cross to make His dream a reality. John says, "In the beginning was the Word. It is an ancient Greek theatrical term describing the work of a playwright as he conceives, or dreams up, the plot of a play. So we could say, "In the beginning was the dream". God literally moves his throne from heaven. When this happens the church is building a chair, a seat, a place for God to come. It takes the glory of God to conceal a matter. It takes the honor of the king to seek out for it. Every day we present the best quotes! Improve yourself, find your inspiration, share with friends.
