Message from the Exalted Ruler

San Jose Lodge #522:

San Jose Lodge #522: I hope that this message finds our entire membership and their families safe and healthy. While I personally strug- gle with being separated from my family, friends and colleagues this time spent sheltering in place has given me opportunity to reflect on my many blessings. The fellowship I enjoy through the Lodge being one of these bless- ings. The Lodge will continue to offer meals throughout the week and there is discussion on being able to provide beer, wine, and custom cocktails to go. Keep you all posted as to whether we will be able to do so and when. And if you have not yet taken advantage of “Nobody Beats our Meat” sale you are missing out! Lori Marshall has coordinated the opportunity for the Lodge to purchase beef, pork and poultry through our neighbors at Bassian Farms and it tru- ly is not only delicious but a real bargain. Thanks for all you do Lori!! I would also like to remind those members who have not yet paid their dues to call into the office to do so. It really does go a long way to keeping the Lodge operating and the lights on. For those members that have already paid their dues, a big thanks! The Lodge will continue to cooperate with the guidance of our local health authorities to ensure that we operate in the safest possible manner. The health of our members being the highest priority. That being said, our House Man- ager and everyone’s favorite bartender Jeff Stillwill has been busy cleaning up the pool deck to get ready for a real party once we are able to open the doors. A special thanks to Chrisula Haller for all the hard work she has put in to help Jeff. I cannot wait to tell you all that the Lodge is ready to safely open our doors again to all of you. Until that time, if there is anything that I or the Lodge can do to aid you, don’t hesitate to reach out. Be safe.

I hope you and your families are all healthy and safe at this time! It was very disappointing to me that I could not have our Members appreciation dinner this year! These members will be receiving awards and have been notified: Elk of the Year : Ed Peterson, Officer of the year: Zeke Garcia, Citizen of the year: Ralph Price. Annie Cross and Ken Postier will be receiving Grand Exalted Ruler awards. There were a lot of members who stepped throughout the year as well. Thank You all! I just wish I could remember all the names! This is a list of members who worked very hard to make my year a success: Ernie Miller, Lori Marshall, Michelle Wilson and Bill Cassidy. Thank you to the Office Staff as well, Joanne Bengiveno and Jeanne Ontiveros.. Also a great big Thank You to all the committees that worked their tails off! And a big Thank You to the kitchen and bar staff! Again, you probably can’t imagine how much you all mean to me for all the support you gave me. If I forgot anyone specific, I apologize in advance.

I would like to give a huge Thank You to my Officer Corp for all of their hard work, which enabled me to have a very successful year for our members and our charities!

Fraternally, Scott Thomas, PER
