Cory Vom Baur to Face Victor Henry at Inaugural Super Fight League America Event Cory Vom Baur to face Victor Henry at inaugural Super Fight League America event Tacoma, WA (Sept. 12th 2014) Super Fight League, Asia’s most prominent name in Mixed Martial Arts is looking to make a splash stateside, partnering with CageSport MMA and Brian Halquist Productions to bring you Super Fight League America on October 4th at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, WA. In his highly anticipated return to the cage, Vancouver, Washington native “Vicious” Cory Vom Baur (7-2) is set to face Los Angeles’ Victor Henry (7-1) for the SFL America Bantamweight championship in the evening’s 5-round Main Event. Vom Baur gained national attention last year after defeating Josh Rettinghouse for the CageSport Bantamweight Title. Josh Rettinghouse has since moved on to fight for the World Series of Fighting. Following a Unanimous Decision victory in May of this year, Vom Baur will face his toughest challenge yet in the explosive Henry, who has 5 of 7 victories by way of stoppage. Henry is coming off a huge victory in Japan over well respected Hideo Tokoro. “We have an incredible fight card on our inaugural Super Fight League – America show,” said promoter, Brian Halquist. “Our current CageSport champion, Cory Vom Baur is facing Victor Henry, flying in from LA. This fight will be all out as both fighters have finished their opponents in a combined 10 out of 14 victories. These guys are two of the best up and coming bantamweights in the country. It will be explosive!” In the semi-main event, Marion “The Bruiser” Reneau (4-1) looks to keep her 3-fight win streak alive against talented submission expert Colleen “The Thoroughbred” Schneider (5-4) in a 5-round battle inside the cage. Both California natives, Reneau and Schneider are known for their ability to finish their opponents, with all of their combined 9 wins coming by way of either knock out or submission. “We’re thrilled to have our first women’s title fight. We have hosted many women fights on our shows and we will start developing our women’s rankings and women’s championship fights. We couldn’t have asked for a better fight to start out our title fight with. Both women have stopped every opponent they’ve defeated. This will be a toe to toe scrap that the Northwest MMA fans are sure to be entertained by. It truly is a very incredible fight,” Halquist Commented. On October 4th, live at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington, fans will get a chance to see two fighters trained by the very best, as both Victor Henry and Colleen Schneider will have former UFC Heavyweight Champion Josh “The Warmaster” Barnett in their corner. With 40 professional fights against some of the toughest competition in the history of the sport, Barnett has amassed a stellar 33-7 record and is one of the most recognizable figures in Mixed Martial Arts today. With two title fights, and a great supporting undercard, it’s guaranteed to be an explosive and exciting night. Both main event fighters are coming off victories earlier this year, and will be putting it all on the line to leave Tacoma with the first SFL-America Title belts around their waist. “Plus we get to have Josh Barnett’s homecoming of sorts. He is one of the greatest fighters in MMA history and also a Washington State High School wrestling champ,” said Brian Halquist. “Josh will be in the corner of both title fights and we are really excited to bring Josh back home for our first SFL – America show!” Super Fight League America tickets are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets, as well as the Emerald Queen Casino box office.
