L’Équipe de France a débuté sa préparation par une victoire (67-53), le 5 août, contre la Tunisie au Palais des Sports de Pau (7 707 places assises). Par la suite, Les Bleus sont arrivés à Orléans, où ils rencontreront successivement la Croatie et la Lituanie le 8 et 10 août au Palais des Sports (3 000 places). Les Bleus s’envoleront ensuite pour Kaunas afin de se mesurer à la sélection lituanienne le 15 août. Les joueurs de Vincent Collet reviendront ensuite en France pour y jouer leur dernier tournoi de préparation avant l’Euro. Il se déroulera au Palais des Sports de Toulouse (4 200 places) du 18 au 20 août. La France y retrouvera la Belgique, le Monténégro et l’Italie. Enfin l’Équipe de France sera réduite à 12 joueurs pour disputer l’EuroBasket 2017. Mais avant cela, les Tricolores rejoindront Berlin et affronteront l’Allemagne le 27 août lors d’un ultime match de préparation.     Original Article Difference-based analysis of the impact of observed game parameters on the final score at the FIBA Eurobasket Women 2019 SLOBODAN SIMOVIĆ1 , JASMIN KOMIĆ2, BOJAN GUZINA1, ZORAN PAJIĆ3, TAMARA KARALIĆ1, GORAN PAŠIĆ1 1Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, University of Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina 2Faculty of Economy, University of Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina 3Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, University of Belgrade, Serbia ABSTRACT Evaluation in women's basketball is keeping up with developments in evaluation in men’s basketball, and although the number of studies in women's basketball has seen a positive trend in the past decade, it is still at a low level. This paper observed 38 games and sixteen variables of standard efficiency during the FIBA EuroBasket Women 2019. Two regression models were obtained, a set of relative percentage and relative rating variables, which are used in the NBA league, where the dependent variable was the number of points scored. The obtained results show that in the first model, the difference between winning and losing teams was made by three variables: true shooting percentage, turnover percentage of inefficiency and efficiency percentage of defensive rebounds, which explain 97.3%, while for the second model, the distinguishing variables was offensive efficiency, explaining for 96.1% of the observed phenomenon. There is a continuity of the obtained results with the previous championship, played in 2017. Of all the technical elements of basketball, it is still the shots made, assists and defensive rebounds that have the most significant impact on the final score in European women’s basketball.

    Graphical Model for Baskeball Match Simulation Min-hwan Oh, Suraj Keshri, Garud Iyengar Columbia University New York, NY, USA, 10027 [email protected], [email protected] [email protected] Abstract Conventional approaches to simulate matches have ignored that in basketball the dynamics of ball movement is very sensitive to the lineups on the court and unique identities of players on both offense and defense sides. In this paper, we propose the simulation infrastructure that can bridge the gap between player identity and team level network. We model the progression of a basketball match using a probabilistic graphical model. We model every touch and event in a game as a sequence of transitions between discrete states. We treat the progression of a match as a graph, where each node is a network structure of players on the court, their actions, events, etc., and edges denote possible moves in the game flow. Our results show that either changes in the team lineup or changes in the opponent team lineup significantly affects the dynamics of a match progression. Evaluation on the match data for the 2013-14 NBA season suggests that the graphical model approach is appropriate for modeling a basketball match. 1 Introduction Predicting the outcomes of professional sports events is one of the most popular practices in the sports media, fan communities and, of course, sport betting related industries. Predictions range from human prediction to statistical analysis of historical data. With 7 foreign-born players, the Spurs led the NBA with the most foreign-born players on their roster. Tony Parker (France), Boris Diaw (France) and Manu Ginobili (Argentina) played alongside Tim Duncan (U.S. Virgin Islands) and Kawhi Leonard (U.S.) to bring the team its 5th NBA championship since 1999. The San Antonio Spurs are part of a larger trend of globalization in the NBA. In the 2013-14 season, the National Basketball Association (NBA) set a record with 90 international players, representing 20 percent of the players on the opening-night NBA rosters, compared to 21 international players (and 5 percent of rosters) in 1992. Professional baseball started blending foreign-born players with native-born talent earlier than the NBA. On the 2014 Major League Baseball (MLB) opening-day roster there were 213 foreign-born players, representing 25 percent of the total, an increase of 2 percentage points from an NFAP analysis of MLB rosters performed in 2006. Welcome to the White House. Everybody, please have a seat. In case you didn't know, these are the NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs. I was considering having the Vice President cover these remarks so I could stay fresh for the State of the Union. [Laughter] Taking an example off Pop, who sits his stars sometimes—[laughter]— but I decided I actually wanted to meet them. So I know we've got a lot of Spurs fans in the house—no doubt—including a guy I stole from San Antonio, our Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, former Mayor Julián Castro. [Applause] Hey! And of course we want to welcome General Manager R.C. Buford and, of course, Coach Popovich. Different types of players fill the position giving the lineups completely different looks and characteristics. And it’s probably the position with the most adjusted definitions; ‘point-forward’, ‘stretch-4’, ‘combo-forward’, ‘shooting-forward’ and as defined by Drvaric (2017) the most modern type of power forward; ‘the multidimensional position 4’. Currently, two long ivory-white players from Northern Europe, just in their early twenties, are taking the basketball world by storm. Kristaps Porzingis and Lauri Markkanen are bringing a combination of length and shooting stroke to the NBA that only Kevin Durant can compare to. But they are more than just tall skinny shooters. They are taking the skill set of +210cm players to a whole new level and redefine the common perception of a power forward.
