Ramirez (8.0,5,0,0,0,7) recorded his second consecutive win, allowing only 5 hits and striking out 7 in 8.0 scoreless innings. Kinney (1.0,0,0,0,0,1) struck out 1 in 1-2-3 9th inning to close out the game. The Rainiers broke a scoreless tie with a solo home run by LF/RF Carlos Peguero in the top of the 5th inning and scored 10 runs over the final 3 innings. Tacoma hit 5 home run runs, including 4 home runs in the 8th inning. Peguero (2x5, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI), 1B Rich Poyhthress (1x3, 2 R, HR, RBI, BB) and Nate Tenbrink (2x4, 2 R, 2B, HR, 3 RBI) hit back-to-back home runs, while CF Abe Almonte (1x2, R, HR, RBI) also hit a home run in the same inning. SS Brad Miller (1x3, 2 R, 2 BB) and CF/LF Dustin Ackley (1x4, 2 R) each extended their hitting streaks to 14 games. RF Franklin Gutierrez (0x2, BB) and DH Justin Smoak (1x5, RBI) each made a rehab start. REHABILITATION ASSIGNMENT: OF Franklin Gutierrez began his second rehabilitation assignment with Tacoma on June 12. He went 0-for-2 with a walk last night. Gutierrez hit .246 (15x61) with 9 runs scored, 5 doubles, 1 home run, 11 RBI, 1 stolen base and 4 walks in 14 games with Tacoma during his first rahb assignment, May 16-31. Overall he is batting .235 (16x68) with 10 runs scored, 5 doubles, 1 home run, 12 RBI and 6 walks in 16 games with AAA Tacoma. Gutierrez was placed on the 15-DL list with a strained right hamstring on April 23 and transferred to the 60-day DL on June 5. Gutierrez was batting .259 (14x54) with 3 doubles, 4 home runs (3 leadoff HR) and 10 RBI in 16 games (13 GS in CF) this season for Seattle. This is the 5th trip to the DL for Gutierrez since the start of the 2011 season. 1B Justin Smoak made his first rehab start with Tacoma yesterday. Smoak was placed on the 15-day DL (retroactive to May 30) with a right oblique strain. Smoak left the game on May 25 vs. Texas with a right oblique strain and last appeared in a game as a pinch-hitter on May 29 at San Diego. RH Josh Kinney has appeared in 3 games with Tacoma over 2 rehab stints, going 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER, 3.0 IP). Prior to his rehab appearance on May 17, Kinney had not appeared in a game since March 6 when he was forced to leave a game after two-thirds of an inning with pain on his left side. He is currently on the 60-day disabled list with a stress recation in his third rid on his left side. OF NOTE: SS Brad Miller currently has a 14-game hitting streak, batting .393 (24x61) with 15 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs and 21 RBI. Overall Miller has hit safely in 16 of 18 MARINERS ORG. LEADERS: games with Tacoma, batting .351 (26x74) with 18 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs and 22 RBI.
