Dopo On Sunset del 2020, il live Other Aspects del 2019 e True Meanings del 2018 (ci fermiamo qui) realizza questo “pop grasso” che si presume sia il primo volume di una serie non ben definita. Paul Weller ha registrato Fat Pop durante il lockdown dello scorso anno proprio mentre venivano annullate le date del suo tour. Alla realizzazione del- l’album, nato nello studio casalingo in Surrey, sono stati chia- mati il chitarrista Steve Cradock, il bassista Andy Crofts e il bat- terista Ben Gordelier, L’uscita di Fat Pop è stata anticipata dal singolo Cosmic Fringes, brano in cui il synth predomina. Nella canzone True c’è il contributo di Lia Metcalfe, cantante del gruppo The Mystrerines mentre nei brani Cobweb Connections e Still Glides The Stream la voce è della cantante e compositrice irlandese Hannah Peel. Paul Weller rende omaggio ad Iggy Pop nel brano Moving Canvas; la figlia Leah è coautrice di Shade of Blue. As we go headlong into our 5th term we are hopeful of a great year ahead for the local music and arts scenes. Other noteable anniversaries include a 10th birthday for Artrix in Bromsgrove, so look out for the celebrations there in April. The Marrs Bar now in its 15 year and The Swan Theatre which first opened its doors to the public a staggering 50 years ago! We also have many new initiatives to celebrate this year, Feb 2015 such as the brand new Breaking Bands Festival at Stoke Prior, Bromsgrove which will sit nicely along side other major local festivals such as Nozstock, Lakefest, Wychwood and 2000 Trees to name but a few. Così è nato "Fat Pop". Paul inizialmente ha registrato da ANTONIO GALLUZZO solo, con voce, piano e chitarra, le canzoni che aveva sul suo telefono. Successivamente ha poi inviato le demo ai membri della sua band (il batterista Ben Gordelier, il chitarrista Steve Cradock e il bassista Andy Crofts), per aggiungere le loro parti. La band è stata poi convocata al Weller's Black Barn studio a Surrey per finire il lavoro. "Fat Pop " è un album che racchiude suoni diversi tra loro. Nessuno stile [email protected] predomina. C'è l'incedere synth-heavy e future-wave di "Cosmic SPETTACOLINEWS.IT Fringes", la maestosa ballata "Still Glides The Stream" (co-scritta con Steve Cradock), il groove di "Moving Canvas" (un tributo a Iggy Pop) e le sinfonie pop immediate e drammatiche di " Failed", "True" e "Shades of Blue" con cui Paul ha catturato generazione dopo generazione di fan. L'album vede il contributo di vari ospiti: Lia Metcalfe, la giovane cantante dei The Mysterines la cui voce magnetica spicca in "True", il cantautore e chitarrista Andy Fairweather Low in "Testify" e la figlia di Paul, Leah, che ha co-scritto "Shades Of Blue", il primo singolo dell'album.
