10 Project Purpose and Need Project Purpose § The purpose of this project is to evaluate alternatives to replace the structurally and functionally deficient existing bridge.

Project Need Evaluating the replacement of the existing bridge is needed to address the following: § Structural deficiency of the existing bridge § Deficient pedestrians and bicyclists facilities § Substandard clearance at the navigable waterway channel

11 “No Build” Alternative Advantages: § No initial expenditure of funds to replace the bridge. § No environmental impacts. § No disturbance to the existing traffic. § No impacts to the bridge approaches. § No secondary impacts to the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum. § No interruption of emergency response during construction. § No adverse effects to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligible bridge.
