NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS With the support of the Parish Council the ‘Shine the Light’ project, which aims to gently uplight the war memorial, is moving forward. ACHIEVEMENTS, HIGHLIGHTS, SUCCESSES Members of Glazebrook Womens Institute (WI) celebrated their 70th anniversary in April having originally been formed in 1946 after the end of World War II. Their oldest member Gladys, age 90, did the honours of cutting the anniversary cake. Members are looking forward to a trip to Llanfairpg in Anglesey to visit the first UK WI, which was set up in 1915. Sunday The group currently have a waiting list - see p.13 for contact details. A good time was had by members of Hollins Green Sequence Dancing classes who celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday with a party at the Community Hall, which was decked out for the occasion, as were

Saturday the dancers. Members are looking forward to a weekend of dancing in Llandudno in October. Doreen and Cliff Herridge have been running

classes for the past 43 years - see pages 12 and 13 for contact details. Rixton-with-Glazebrook Pre-School children had a fabulous trip to Jellybeans Play Centre in Warrington and the staff wish to thank the adult helpers who accompanied the children, without whom trips cannot take place. The staff team also wish to thank Caroline and Millie, Pre-school’s student placements, for their hard work and Sunday Sunday 10.30 - 11.30 wish them luck for their Maths and English GCSEs results. Year 3 enjoyed a ten week African drumming course, ending in a concert for Saturday parents. The choir continues to meet after school every Monday and Saturday is looking forward to taking part in the school’s music festival. On the sporting front, children continue to benefit from Manchester United Foundation coaching thanks to the generous funding from HDT. Friday Warrington Wolves Foundation also provide input for Rugby training and Friday school were delighted to be asked to represent the Foundation at the Magic Weekend in Newcastle, where the children played at the pitch at half time at the Warrington Castleford Tigers match – a day to remember! Rixton-with-Glazebrook Pre-School children had a fabulous trip to Jellybeans Play Centre in Warrington and the staff wish to thank the adult helpers who accompanied the children, without whom trips cannot take place. The staff team also wish to thank Caroline and Millie, Pre-school’s student placements, for their hard work and Sunday Sunday 10.30 - 11.30 wish them luck for their Maths and English GCSEs results. On the sporting front, children continue to benefit from Manchester United Foundation coaching thanks to the generous funding from HDT. ACHIEVEMENTS, HIGHLIGHTS, SUCCESSES Members of Glazebrook Womens Institute (WI) celebrated their 70th anniversary in April having originally been formed in 1946 after the end of World War II. Their oldest member Gladys, age 90, did the honours of cutting the anniversary cake. Members are looking forward to a trip to Llanfairpg in Anglesey to visit the first UK WI, which was set up in 1915. Sunday The group currently have a waiting list - see p.13 for contact details. A good time was had by members of Hollins Green Sequence Dancing classes who celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday with a party at the Community Hall, which was decked out for the occasion, as were
