I don’t want to be influenced that much.” Jason Fried THURSDAY, AUGUST 30, 2018 Printable Copy or Audio Version Morning Summary: Stocks are steady to slightly lower this morning after the S&P 500 and Nasdaq posted their fourth consecutive alltime record high close. Bulls are happy to see the revised Q2 GDP estimate at 4.2%, up slightly from the previous estimate and higher than most in the trade were forecasting. There's also continued optimism remaining that the U.S. may reach a new NAFTA agreement with Canada by Friday or perhaps early next week. I'm told that both sides had representatives working through the night in an attempt to hammer out the few remaining details. The rush is to try an get the agreement in place before the current Mexican president leaves office and new Mexican President Lopez Obrador is inaugurated into office. Bulls are also talking about the Fed perhaps becoming more dovish and the U.S. dollar struggling to find fresh momentum higher, both of which are considered positives for the stock market. Bears are wanting to talk about the upcoming month of September and how it's historically one off the worst stock market months. The S&P 500 has finished lower in 50 out of 91 Septembers, with an average return of negative 1%, according to Dow Jones Market Data. -

Beyond Borders Feb 2018
January has been a memorable month, starting with welcoming the new year and all the promises that it brings. It also brought the excitement of the 537 Incoming District Gover- nors and partners as they traveled to the International Assembly in San Diego. I remember so well my own nervous excitement and anticipation of this training event. I remember the arrival at the Grand Manchester Hyatt hotel with its enormous marble-floored lobby and the throng of my fellow DG-elects from every corner of the world streaming in through the doors. So many new friendships to make, so many stories to share, workshops filled with new RI Vice President 2017-18 information and questions answered … and best of all, the memories that remain with you RI Director 2016-18 for the rest of your life, of the friendships formed as you learn and have fun together. Rotary Club of Langley Central, BC [email protected] I hope that all the DG-elects from our two Zones have returned as Change Makers, ready to grow Rotaract, engage Rotarians and inspire their districts to embrace the visions shared by the plenary speakers. Videos of all these outstanding speeches can be found at Rota- TRF Trustee 2017-2020 ry.video.org. I would encourage you to browse through them to learn the latest information Rotary Club of Amesbury, MA on President-elect Barry Rassin’s theme, the RI strategic plan and membership updates, the [email protected] latest on polio and many inspirational presentations from Jennifer Jones, John Hewko, John Blount, Brad Howard, John Smarge, and our own Jeffry Cadorette — to name just a few.
