Touring Roma

Roma, the capital of Italy, is one of the most touristic places in Europe. Loads of families travel every year to this city to have a nice time while they are learning a lot about the Italian culture and their Romanesque subtraction. Besides, there are a lot of districts where you can walk having a good time looking the views.

My favourites places:

The Roman coliseum: A very interesting place, just in the heart of the city. It is a coliseum where in the Roman age, Julius Caesar was the main character there. He decided if the slaves had to fight versus the Roman gladiators or versus beasts. Obviously they eventually died while the audience enjoyed watching this. You can go by bus or underground but it is easier to go on foot.

The Roman forum: This monument is next to the coliseum and an interesting fact is that the ticket is the same for both monuments. So you can visit both the same day, but it can be very hard. Up there, there are endless of subtractions from the 27th BC to the 476th AD. Amazing!

The Fontana di Trevi: It is mandatory to visit it. It is an awesome fountain near the Square Spain. The myth says that if you throw a single coin to the fountain you will return to Roma. If you throw a pair of coins you will find your love with a very attractive Italian. And if you throw three coins you will get marry with the Italian you met. Will it ?

The Roman pantheon:

PA

There is not a lot to do there but it is interesting to visit. Furthermore, it is at 200 meters from Piazza Navona where you can buy an ice-cream while you enjoying the place.

“La Giolitti”: I could not miss this famous ice-cream parlor. It is one of the most older ice-cream parlors. Personally, it is my favourite ice-cream shop around the world. The “gelati” are totally handmade at the typical Italian style. You can choose two flavors among infinite types. And to top it all you can ask for “panna” (cream). Absolutely amazing!

The Vatican: Right this is not Roma neither Italy but it is besides the Tiber River and near to Trastevere, an interesting district of the city. Within the Vatican country there is Cathedral of Saint Peter where the Pope resides. Besides, there are the Vatican Museums that are awesome and endless. A curiosity about this museum is that there are more than 80,000 art treasures from all the historical periods. If you allocate 2 min per artwork it will last 111 days, without stopping.

Just to finish it is the Sistine Chapel, very recommended to visit.

These are my favourite places of Roma and I recommend them to every type of travellers from singles to families.

Enjoy traveling around the world and learning about every little thing.

Escape rooms

In few words, an escape room is an experience that consists in solving some enigmas to discover a mystery and manage to get out of the scenario before the time limit.

This is only a poor dictionary definition, it is necessary to try one of them to understand the real meaning of room escaping. In fact, getting out of somewhere is the least of your priorities when you are enjoying the experience. It is a total immersion adventure, the game master wants to tell a story and it is in your hands to make it real. The goals and environments are totally different in each one: you can look for an ancient treasure in a tomb or find out a serial killer, you may rescue a disappeared scientist in a biological laboratory, being part of a SWAT team or whatever you can imagine during one hour. Some escape rooms are based on films or other media: Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, SAW, Batman, Sherlock Holmes… Moreover, if you are a brave person, you should try the thematic horror ones, some of them count with real actors!

Making escape rooms is not only having fun, it is proven that it helps to increase the team working, the ability to solve problems and making quickest decisions. It also improves the relationships between participants and is useful for team building. To get out of the escape room and manage to accomplish all the goals it is indispensible to cooperate, share information and ideas among the participants.

PA

If you want to give an opportunity to this amusement, there are really good escape rooms in Manresa and surroundings. Here there are some examples, which one suits you the most?

● La Caixa de Pandora (la Clau): Montaner brothers are the new keepers of the Pandora’s box, a very dangerous and wanted treasure. The older brother is putting the entire world in danger unless you can avoid it. ● Until Dawn (la Clau): Would you dare to spend a whole night in the Freeman mansion to prove that it is not a haunted house? Or maybe it is? ● Cindy box: This is not exactly an escape room but is equally recommended. All the experience is focused in some enigmatic and cursed toy boxes which were property of a little girl called Cindy. ● Codik: Erwin, a scientist, is asking you for some help to finish his project. Her daughter Evelyn has a genetic disease that can be healed with your cooperation. ● El misteri de la llum: this escape room is specially recommended for those interested in knowing the story of Manresa and its legends.

Moments and mountains

Sometimes or some days all of us need an inert friend, a friend who can't breathe, who is not able to disturb you, who hasn't any option to embarrass you but who listens to your feelings, your soul, your shout and your desires.

The nature, the environment, little villages, coloured fields, green forests and specially the mountains, can be your places of peace and reflections. They will never disappoint you because they are original and incorruptibles. They listen and analyse you patiently and without prejudices. Then, they stay beside you without any opinion and offering their legacy to you.

In order to help you, the mountains often invite you to reach their summits. Nice! This is a present. Take it! You can feel the climb like a funny challenge or, if you want, you can approach the top like a placid walk.

And then, of course, every time without exception, when you are the upper thing in an important radius, you must be able to feel happy and it is important and almost necessary to have your moment. I'm alluding to obtain your sensitive, sensational and emotional reward: everything is nice and friendly, everything is part of you and you are a little entity among the nature. It is then when you realize that you're sharing the vital

PA

things and the environmental factors with a little Parus (great tit, as it is commonly known), with a nice squirrel or with the amazing song from the wind.

If you allow me, I can talk about some of these kind of mountains. Some of them are near, like Montserrat, with its impossible figures. Montserrat has got an infinite number of ways, routes and climbing places. It's a precious and a rambling place where you can be lost and you can meet yourself. The secret is walk up until to be far away from the people.

Here, in our little and splendid country, we also can visit The Pyrenees. There are some technical or demanding routes there. I love “La Porta del Cel”. In this one, you must climb La Pica d'Estats, the higher summit in Catalonia, with 3.143 m. The ascent from the french gradient is really enjoyable. Another high-leveled route is “Carros de foc”. This is the prestigious route around our National Park: Aigüestortes. “Carros de foc” has some hard journey, especially the section that reach the “Coll de Contraix”. It requires your complete mindfulness because is easy to fall down.

But the important questions here is the same at the beginning: when you've finished this stretch and you've reached the top of the windy Contraix, the reward that you obtain hasn't any opponent. Everything you contemplate is so beautiful and so yours...

Being on top of the world

It is about 7 months ago that I went to Senja, Norway. Senja is in the latitude 69 North, in the Polar Arctic Circle. It is a familiar resort located up in a hill, 10 minutes away by car from the fishing village of Finnsnes. This short visit to the Observatory of Senja changed my daily life.

The small Aurora Borealis that came to me was so fascinating that twisted my heart and all my soul. It was a low level one, but it was so special that made that moment unforgettable.

The Aurora was so fascinating that I can still see it dancing in my dreams and I can still feel its magic! Everyday I think a bit of all of the Island with its fiords and its white-sand- beaches, I think also of Reno (the reindeer of the house) and of all of the people I met up there.

The family from the Observatory was so nice, they had (well, they have) the power from the Aurora. And I remember so deeply the kids running around and playing under the darkness looking for adventures. The smallest was a baby called Lotta Aurelia, oh! What a lovely girl!

Well now I want to share with you a piece of my real feeling about the experience of seeing the Aurora. A friend called Ágata asked me: “Núria, write me something about the Aurora...” and this was my answer:

PA

What should I say if your name sounds like Aurora…

You know that something like this is difficult to explain, thousand of stories I would replay and more than thousand I would invent but the one that stays inside, which is so, it was tattooed on my soul, it got into my skin and ran through the heart, it went around my veins and slid from bone to bone and marked a dance between the toes and the fingers... it took a stop-over from lung to lung and it landed on the head, it connected neurons and then more of them were born. So like this, the newborn, got together and they made force to slide to the guts and recreate the origin of life, the Big Bang of light and of the conscience to be less and to be more than star dust.

Even though it is a long time ago it still stays deep inside me. I still dream of Her, who danced without hearing, who sang without sounding and who appeared without knocking neither shouting. It is magic that it is always there and very real, up there, through the clouds, between the stars, the Via Lactea's neighbour and the Moon's friend. She belongs to everyone and to nobody, she is very herself and she allows to be hunted only if she wants, only if she wants to play...

The history of synchronised swimming

Do you know something about synchronised swimming? If you don’t know anything about this sport you might want read this article.

The sport started in the 20th century, and it was only performed by boys. It was known as water ballet. The first recorded competition was in 1891 in Berlin, Germany. Many swim clubs were formed around that time, and the sport simultaneously developed in Canada. It often constituted a popular addition to Music Hall evenings in a large variety of theatres of London or Glasgow, which were equipped with only on-stage water tanks for that purpose.

In 1933-1934, girls started to practise it. This change was made by Katherine Whitney Curtis. She was the person who organized a show for the World Exhibition in Chicago. The announcer, Norman Ross, introduced the sport as synchronised swimming for the first time.

A champion swimmer, Ester Williams, became a Hollywood phenomenon portraying Annette Kellerman’s life in Million Dollar Mermaid. In the 1940’s and 1950’s she performed in a string of ‘aqua musicals’. The art developed quickly over the next 20 years becoming extremely technical and athletically demanding and the routines were set to music.

PA

The American synchronised swimmers showed the sport at the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960, and synchronised swimming became an official Olympic sport.

Currently there are two Olympic disciplines, the duet and the team routines which have been included in 2000. Becoming an Olympic sport significantly raised the profile of synchronised swimming, and as a result of the diversity of the discipline and the athleticism of the sport, it has become an increasingly popular form of entertainment at events and pool parties.

The glamorous 1950s style of synchronised swimming with beautiful formations and flowery caps is always a popular choice for entertainment, along with modern day routines of acrobatic lifts and fast moving choreography. In the 21st century there are competitions for all the categories and ages.

Finally, synchronised swimming is not a common sport among teenagers, but it is very watched during the Olympic games.

I hope you have learnt something about this spectacular and different sport.

ABBA’s revival

Hi, I’m so pleased to talk about a thing that I really like with all my heart. I want to talk about Mamma Mia, one of the best films that I have ever seen. Mamma Mia is a musical, and the songs of the film are from ABBA, a famous pop and disco group popular in the 70’s. For example, the name of the film is Mamma Mia, and one of the ABBA popular Songs is this one.

Mamma Mia talks about a girl of 20 years, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), who is planning a wedding, with a boy that she has been dating for a long time, Sky (Dominic Cooper). She wants to invite to her wedding her father, but the problem is that she doesn’t know who he is. One day, she finds a diary of her mother, Donna (Meryl Streep), that talks about her 3 possibles fathers, Sam Carmichael (Pierce Brosnan), Bill Anderson (Stellan Skarsgard) and Harry Bright (Colin Firth). Sophie decides to invite them, saying that she is Donna, but Donna doesn't know. Donna has a band, Donna and the Dynamos, and is formed by Donna, obviously, Rosie (Julie Walters), and Tania (Christine Baranski). Sam, Bill and Harry arrive to Greece, and they think that Donna invited them, not Sophie. When Donna sees that Sam, Bill and Harry stay in her hotel, she expels them. Later, Sophie goes to the boat that they want to use to go home, and stop them. Basically, the film happens in 2 days, and finally, Sophie understands that she is still young for weddings, and she doesn’t want to do this, and Donna takes the opportunity to have a wedding with one of the 3 possible fathers. I don’t want to say who, because it is a spoiler!

PA

The summer of 2018 there was a premiere of the second film, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again. The name of the second film is because of the song “Mamma Mia”, too. Of all the song that are in those films, I think that my favourite ones are, in the first film “Lay all your Love on me”, or “the Winner Takes it all”, and of the second film “One of us” or “I’ve been waiting for you”. But I have to recognize that all the songs of the two films are really cool, and I think that the songs of Abba are probably one of the best songs that I have ever listened.

In conclusion, Mamma Mia is the best, and I recommend it a lot. It is for all the ages, and it’s very funny. Please, everybody has to see this film, it’s a legend.

The story of golden boy

Bobby Moore was born on the April 12, in 1941 on England (Barking and Dagenham), and died on the February 24 in 1993 in London (England) with the age of 51 years.

He was born in Barking (London), and he was the best defending player of England. He had a strong resistance, speed, a spectacular vision of the game match and always ahead of the rival. But his lack was the potency. Besides, he was agile and light.

This player was known by the name of the "golden boy of English football". He played in the position of MCD (defensive middle), and DFC (defending). His career as a professional footballer started with the club West Ham where he made his first debut in 1958. And later he captained West Ham for 10 years. In his shirt he wore the number 6. Bobby Moore with West Ham won: - 1 FA Cup (1963/64) - 1 Recopa from Europe (1964/65) Besides, he was nominated as the English Footballer of the Year after winning the FA Cup with West Ham. And after playing 544 games with the club West Ham he was transferred at the club Fulham, and there he met another legend of the football, George Best, one of his best friends when he played in Fulham.

A part from that, he was captain of England’s selection in 1964 at the age of 23, and the matches he captained were 90. He won the World Cup FIFA in 1966 versus Germany where they won 4-2 in England.

PA

His friendship with Pelé it was established in 1970, when the two men played an epic match for England in the World Cup against Brazil. Pelé declared that Moore was the best defense he had played with.

He faced the darkest point in his career when he was falsely accused of stealing a diamond bracelet in Bogotá, Colombia, just days before the 1970 World Cup began in Mexico. Despite the bad publicity and personal strain, he played brilliantly in England’s hard-fought 1–0 group-match loss to Brazil.

Moore made his last international appearance in 1974. After retiring from Fulham in 1977, he played briefly in the U.S. and managed the Oxford City club (1979–81) and Southend United (1983–86). Later he became a sports editor (1986–90) and radio commentator (1990–93). Moore was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1967. And in 1993 he died because of cancer.

He is considerate one of the best players of the history with, Pelé, Marco Van Basten, Ronldo Nazario, Ronaldinho, etc. And this is the history of this magnificent player.

The things we do for love Since its premiere back in 2011, Game of Thrones has become one of the most popular series in the world and in television history. Millions of fans have been following the show from the beginning and many others have become addicted to it because of the hype it has created. The show premiered its last episode last month, May 14th, closing an 8-year path that surprised the whole world because of the exciting plots and all the twists that it had. During these 8 years, Game of Thrones has become a reference amongst TV shows, but the gates of Westeros have been opened since a lot before. It all began in 1996, when George R. R. Martin published “A Game of Thrones”, which introduced us to a new world of fantasy during some kind of medieval time, a new bunch of characters such as Daenerys Targaryen and Tyrion Lannister or the most important noble houses in Westeros and its plot-line. “A Game of Thrones” was the first novel in the fantasy series “A Song of Ice and Fire”, and was also the predecessor of 4 more books (“A Clash of Kings”, “A Storm of Swords”, “A Feast for Crowds” and “A Dance with Dragons”. All written by Martin) on which the TV show is based. At the beginning, the show followed the story-line of the books and was loyal to it. But at the end of the 5th season it advanced the books: Martin published the last novel, “A Dance with Dragons”, in 2011, before the show was even released, but there were still 2 more books to be written to end the story. The show couldn’t wait for the author to finish the 6th novel so it continued filming and writing scripts independently from the books. The 6th, 7th and 8th seasons were totally independent from the books and the scripts were written by the show’s creators: David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.

Graphic that shows the ratings of all "Game of Thrones" episodes in IMDB, an online database of information related to films.

PA

But what does really explain the success of a program that has dragons as a main attractive during a time when some people are starting to get tired of fantasy? The answer is very easy: it breaks apart our thoughts about stories. The show plays with our love for its characters and their journeys. Since the beginning, it demonstrates that the story is the most important thing and that both Martin and the writers have no problem with getting rid of some important characters if the plot requires so. It’s also great to find out how women are treated during the whole story. Characters like Cersei Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, Sansa and Arya Stark or the great Lady Olenna Tyrell show us how badass and manipulative can women be and that men may be good at fighting (Arya knows something about fighting too), but when it comes to ruling, they are the ones who pull strings to make the country work at their will.

You might not enjoy challenging these great women.

Let’s not forget the role that politics play in Game of Thrones. The Iron Throne is the centre of everything that happens in the show. It’s the point where all major characters want to arrive. The betrayals, the deaths, the conspiracies are all, as the 8th season slogan said, for the throne. The battle for power gets more interesting as the story advances and we can see how every character is, at some point, tempted to make a risky move to obtain more of it. “Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder”. The astute Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish gives us this magnificent line that symbolizes how he is willing to take advantage of anything he can in order to get more power. The Iron Throne is the most wanted item in Game of Thrones.

Trap music

Trap music was a subtype of hip hop music in the past, but today it is one of the most listened music around the world.

The name "Trap" was inspired in the trap houses of the south USA, where trap music was born. Nowadays, trap music has subtypes like trap-soul or hard trap. The main topics of trap music are the life in the hood, and the love for the money and expensive things. Since it was born it only grew up in the world of the music, until it became one of the best music in the world.

This type of music is sung in a lot of different languages, like Spanish, Italian (all the European languages) and the most famous, English. Some of the most sounded singers of the are Drake, Migos, Paulo Londra, Duki, Big Soto, Kidd Keo, Sfera Ebbasta, etc. The genre is still growing up, and a lot of new musicians are appearing every year. It is not an appropriate music for old people, because of the bad words and references of the songs, but it is the most sounded around the young people.

Art is for…?

I remember when I was 12 and I went, for the first time, to a museum. It was «Les ruïnes d'Empúries» I remember I thought -Why are we here? It's summer we should be in the beach- maybe all the teenagers will think the same but what you should know is that after that visit even if it was in summer it changed my point of view about art.

I thought like all teenagers that art is the most boring thing in the world, but that day I knew a person that changed my point of view. He was a young person, no more than 25, he worked as a guide in the museum. Maybe he saw my face when I came into the museum but just form beginning he explained me a lot of stories about gods, mythology, animals… While he was explaining me all that stories I just saw sculptures and rocks without any sense. The strange thing was, I didn’t know why but, I couldn’t stop listening at him and most incredibly, asked more details about all those stories.

Thanks to that boy, at the end of my visit, a part from a lot of stories I learned something, even more important, I love art and all its stories about us but everybody feels the same as me? Everybody can understand art? That makes me think a lot during all my live.

Nowadays everybody can enjoy art, whenever they lives or wherever they travels and obviously everybody can have an opinion about it, then the correct answer is, everybody understands art? The answer to that question is a little more difficult because it depends of many factors.

First, art is not made for those who can’t see more than what they have in front. People who just think about themselves and what is important for them, can rarely see what an artist wants to explain with his or her work. Imagine a teenager who thinks that his mobile is the most important thing in the world. How is it possible for him to understand the desperation message that wants to transmit a painting like The scream from Edvard Munch? Or the political message of El gernika from Pablo Picasso?

Second, art is not for that people who don’t like reading, investigating, searching or finding information about what they are looking. It’s really difficult trying to understand a

PA

painting if you don’t search information about the painter and their circumstances before. How can we understand Liberty Leading the People from Eugène Delacroix if we don’t know anything about French revolution? If you like art you love searching all secrets about the painting or painter you’re looking and if in your brain you only have mobile, mobile it will be impossible to fill the brain up with anything else.

Third, but no less important, “art is for all that people who are broken”. All people who love art have especial feelings and normally a “difficult” life that gives them a different point of view about art and their meanings because life gives them the opportunity to see art like a world where they can live without the pain of the real world.

Imagine a 12 years old girl in summer asking her parents where she can buy some books about mythology and history to try to understand all he saw in that visit and maybe you can understand how important it was that day for me and how important is art for me now, 21 years later.

A drawing about politics

Nowadays, people are angry and disgusted by the politicians who are in the government. And a reason of their anger is that politicians do unnecessary improvements and they don’t solve the main problems of our society and our country. Moreover they are also corrupted and they don’t do a good management of money of our countries. This creates social problems, crisis and debts with other countries and banks that we are not allowed to pay them.

But those issues are mostly caused by people who vote. We are living in a representative democracy. This system is composed by: people choosing a political party, and the political party that gets more congressmen, will lead the parliament. The main function that politicians must do is to have the power to manage a country to solve problems and improve the society. Normally, if a political organization wants to rule a country, it should get more than half of the total amount of congressmen, to approve their offers. If not, they should do pacts with other political parties to reach an agreement and get a majority of power in a parliament.

In my opinion this system is actually not worth it. First of all, most of people who vote thinking about who will be the president, ignoring the other members of the political party. The other serious problem is that people don’t read the electoral programs. And they vote for a party without knowing their values.

One issue that is so frequent in our society is that people are disinterested or not very clever with politics. I think that this problem has to be solved with education. Schools should teach some classes of politics, like teaching lessons about all political parties and all types of government, without being partial and forgetting the beginnings. This would be a way to evolve our mentality and people would be more mentally independent.

Finally, i would introduce a new law in our government, and it would be to force people to vote. Except in specific cases, I think that all people who are in age to vote must do it. Political is a topic that implicates any genders and any ages. If you don’t like any

PA

political party, let’s go for white vote. This will be a measure to protest in our system and rejecting our system.

The last reform that I should do is not allowing all people to vote. You should pass a culture test to get the right to vote. With this measure it would let people be more independent and they wouldn’t be indoctrinated by their environment.

The translation of songs in animated films There are so many aspects and specializations in the world of translation that would be difficult to fit them in a single professional profile. Fortunately, the universities that train translators have realized these aspects and have divided the training they offer in different specialties, which forces the student to choose a part of their work, but also prepares them much more to the face a workplace. Audio-visual translation is one of the disciplines that most professionals are being dragged to. It is a type translation that, for the moment, gives work to a lot of professionals and it is very rewarding. Audio- visual translation includes everything that has to do with dubbing and subtitling: from quality processes, to scripts and through corrections of originals. Now, although translating a movie dialogue can be more or less complicated, have you ever considered what it means to translate a song that should accompany an image? The most paradigmatic cases are those of animation. In order to see exactly the process to follow, we will use some practical cases.

If we talk about musical animation, we obviously have to talk about Disney, one of the most productive animation companies in the world and best known internationally. You just need to see the success of one of its latest films, Frozen (2013) and more specifically the main theme of the story Let it go (winner of the Oscar for Best Original Song in 2013).

Lluís Comes, translator, adjuster and audio-visual lyricist, is responsible for many of the musical translations of the animation factory in Catalan. Thanks to him, Let it Go Frozen became Vull volar. In Latin America Spanish the title was adapted to Libre soy

PA

and in the Spanish of the peninsula ¡Suéltalo! Was the definite choice .I recommend going to YouTube and watching the video titled "Disney's Frozen -" Let It Go "Multi- Language Full Sequence", in which you can see the song sung in the 25 languages to which it was translated.

The rhyme and the metric, although they are a great difficulty, are not the only aspect that must be taken into account while dealing with musical pieces. The animation is added to these aspects, and the fact that what is said has to be tallied with what happens on the screen, and this often means adapting to actions and movements (sometimes labial movements). There are so many factors that come into play that we often forget the effort behind them. Sometimes we hear a translated song and say it sounds artificial or forced. Sometimes it is inevitable that we make fun of, just because the song was designed in another language, in the case of Disney, English. It is for these reasons that translators often allow themselves to take certain licenses in the language and create rather elastic phrases that include hyperbatons (alteration of order), archaic synonyms or even traces of oral language.

This would be the case of the song Brave men (Home forts, in Catalan) from the film Mulan (1998). While we listen to the song, the action in the movie shows a military training and the progression that the main character, Mulan, does. In this case the task has been to adapt the original lyrics of the song so that it makes sense with the transition of the action and adapt to each one of the tests that the warriors must pass. The song describes the movements and therefore, the translation can not be as free as in other cases, but it must follow the display of what the screen shows.

The song that Meg sings in the movie Hercules (1997) relates a loving disappointment and the problems she has to fit into a world in which she is chained between good and evil. The difficulty of this piece is also due to the fact that Meg is signing together with

PA

the choir formed by the muses. The choreography gestures of the song I won’t say I’m in love go with the story that Meg is telling us, and therefore, the translation of the song must keep the ideas that they transmit corporally.

We will try to gradually abandon the Disney factory to move to 20th Century Fox (although since March 2019 it is already part of the Disney machine). In 1997, 20th Century Fox released an animated and fictional version about the life of Anastasia Romanov (great duchess of Russia) called Anastasia (1997). In a given moment, Dimitri and Vladimir, two bounty hunters, are looking for the lost princess of Russia, and they try to turn an orphan girl into the real Anastasia through fast classes of protocol and history. The song titled Learn to do it contains a whole lesson in good manners, social skills and past from the imperial family. For this reason, the translation has had to include all the information that had to be transmitted and that, at the same time, it was necessary to incorporate the action, which was accompanied by physical exercises and historical images.

And last but not least, let’s move to Warner Bros screen and a much forgotten film, but I'm always ready to defend it. This is Quest for Camelot (1998).It is a not-typical story of princes and princesses where the girl wants to be a knight and the prince is blind. Among all these snipped stereotypes there is a two-headed dragon whose goal is to live separately. The song called If I didn’t have you claims the body independence and includes a musical show where the two dragons mention both sports and arts. There are so many hilarious moments in which even Shakespeare or Elvis Preasley are mentioned. It is therefore obvious that the translated song had to include all of these ingredients.

News on Jonas Brothers

Jonas Brothers are an American band formed by three brothers whose names are Nick Jonas (26 years), Joe Jonas (29 years) and Kevin Jonas (31 years). They sing pop and rock. Jonas brothers were funded in 2005. After Jonas Brothers signed for Columbia they considered calling the group “Son of Jonas”, before they decided to turn up into “Jonas Brothers”.

The first of this band is It's about time published in 2006 and after the song “Time For Me To Fly” included in the soundtrack of the film Aquamarine. After 2 years, the Jonas Brothers signed for Hollywood records. Finally, the second album was the number five in the Ranking Billboard Hot 200 in the first week. The world of drums

The drummer is a very important figure in songs for the beat and the tempo. Drums are very big instruments. They are composed of a lot of cymbals and drums. The drum kits can be very different: there are quite small kits or so big. The basic kit has 1 ride, 1 hi-hat, 2 toms, 1 floor tom, 1 snare and 1 bass drum. After that, you can add whatever you want! An American drummer has a kit of 33 pieces! He is Joey Jordinson, the ex-drummer of the American heavy metal band Slipknot. His drum was a Pearl slipknot edition, customized specially for him. Another drummer with an enormous drum kit is Aquiles Priester. He uses a drum with 35 res pieces. The brands that he uses are Paiste, Mapex, Evans, Pro-Mark, Audio-Tehnica, pedals DW, Santo Angelo, Urban Boards and Ciclotrón. Drummers need all limbs to play, it and they usually get very exhausted. Moreover, mallets are very funny, and you can be creative with all the notes! But in drum you can do the covers of songs and it is so funny.

Personally, I have in my drum 1 hi-hat, 1 splash, 1 ride, 1 snare drum, 1 bass drum with double pedal, 2 toms and 1 floor tom. My drum is a Pearl Target series blue and I love it! One drum consist in a one membrane, called drumhead or drum skin and a estructure. Drums need the resonance to sound and the vibration of the drumhead. Usually, drums are made of wood but they can be made of crystal like Pearl crystal beat.

You can put lights in you drums and it is very cool!

Walt Disney and the new opera

Nowadays there are lots of people considering opera a boring musical show. This kind of people usually enjoy watching series on the Netflix or having a relaxing moment with a Disney movie, but they don’t know the strong conexion existing between those elements.

If we take Mozart’s operas like Don Giovanni and the Disney’s movie The Lion King, both of them start with an overture number which contextualizes where, when and how the action is happening. Don Giovanni did this with an overture, but The Lion King did the same with the song “The Circle of life”.

After that, in Don Giovanni we can find two kind of musical numbers: on one hand, we can find recitative numbers, almost-spoken numbers used for making the plot go forward; and on the other hand we can find arias, virtuosistic shows when the plot is stopped, the singers can show their voices and the spectators can know some elements like the character’s feelings. If we find some equivalences in The Lion King we can find recitatives like “I can’t wait to be the king” and arias like “Be prepared”.

The next musical number you can find it’s called Finale Primo. You can find this number at the end of the first act like a big performance with most of the characters on stage. If we take a look at The Lion King we can appreciate this performance in an instrumental version during Mufasa’s Death.

After the Finale Primo, the Intermezzo Comico always appears, which is a little performance with new comical characters. This performance is a link between the first

PA

and the second act, and there is an equivalence with Timon and Pumba singing “Hakuna Matata”. In this point we can see the beggining of the second act or the second part on the film, and the comical characters will still be on stage making another numbers like the hula number.

Finally, at the end of the film you can find once again the song “The circle of life” as and ending number. Thanks to that number we can appreciate a cyclic element in the film, and lots of composers like Mozart did that. So, it’s easy to conclude that cinema producers drink a lot from european operas resources, using elements we can assume in our audiovisual culture.

Schindler’s list

My favourite film is "Schindler's list". It's a Steven Spielberg's film and I think that's his best job. This movie is about the jew's holocaust during the World War II. There is one man, called Oskar Schindler, he is a businessman, and he only wants to earn money. Because of that, he begins to go to nazi's parties and he starts to meet with important leaders of the nazi political party. Because of this, he builds a factory and he gets to have a lot of jews as workers and he doesn't pay anything to them. He employs a jew as an accountant too. This man is very intelligent and he wanted to help other jews who were killed and chased by nazis.

The next months, the jews’ situation gets worse. They are taken to the concentration camp where they have to work very hard. The soldiers can shoot the Jews if they want, etc. For the nazis the jews aren't human so they can do everything with them. Schindler starts to see this situation and he doesn't like it. He starts to see the accountant as a friend and a confident too. Because of this he starts to proctect the jews and starts to understand their culture and traditions too.

But the jews’ situation gets worse again, and the nazis want to take them to an extermination camp. When Schindler knows that, he speaks with the nazis, who put a

PA

prize for every jew. At this moment, Schindler and the accountant write a list with the name of a lot of jews that they want to save. Schindler wants to spend all his fortune to save them, as maximum as possible.

Finally, after a lot of adversities, he gets to save more than a thousand jews. In gratitude, the jews save him and his wife too, because the Americans win the World War II (in fact, the allied won the war) because they don’t want that Schindler is considered as a criminal of war (they don't want that the allied judge Schindler and his wife as nazis).

I like this film because the story, despite it's terrible, it's real and we have to remember this in order to not repeat it. The actors are great too!! It's an excellent movie.

Pretty woman

I think Pretty Woman is a very romantic film. The main characters are Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts) and Edward Lewis (Richard Gere). In my opinion, those two are very good actors. The film is about a very important multinational director and a prostitute and it happens in Beverly Hills. The woman, Vivian, meets this man called Edward while she is working at the Walk of Fame. The man stops right there with his car and it’s when their story starts. They end falling in love and she leaves her job so they can be together.

I like this film so much I’ve seen it a lot of times. I think I like this film this much because I always think you can meet your blue prince at any time.

Rock and the society: the origins of Punk

When you hear the word punk the first that comes to your mind is a rogue guy, black dressed, with lots of tattoos and a spiked colourful Mohawk hair. But behind their aggressive stereotypical look there is a whole culture with its own philosophy.

(Punk style)

We can say that punk was born in London in the mid-1970s. We can find its origins in the underground rock culture, where bands like Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Ramones and The Damned started a new musical genre painful of minimalistic rock melodies and distorted power chords, all accompany with the angry screams of the lyrics complaining about social and political issues. Surely you have listened to one of the most iconic punk songs such as “God Save the Queen” by Sex Pistols, or “Should I Stay, or Should I Go” from The Clash.

PA

(Sex Pistols preforming in 197 (The Clash, photo shoot in 1979)

With those activist lyrics from discontent people a whole new ideological current appeared. With its “do it yourself” ethic and progressive ideas, punk it is not about just an aesthetic or guys who has lost their way in life, it is about people who wants a peaceful revolution. Their philosophy is against violence, capitalism, sexism, racism, sexual and gender orientation discrimination and support the vegan movement.

At the beginning of 1980s punk movement had split deeply along cultural and musical lines, leaving a variety of different scenes and forms like grunge, pop punk or emo. Bands such as Nirvana, Green Day and My Chemical Romance have popularized its legacy, helping to its revival. Even these bands playing punk’s subgenres keep some sounds and lyrics characteristics from the original punk, they have been criticized for making the punk scene become mainstream.

(My Chemical Romance, (Green Day, performing in 1992 photo shoot in 2002)

PA

Nowadays, the original punk scene is disappearing, even so its heritage is still with us and its philosophy won’t extinct while there are still people unsatisfied with our society.

The machismo storms our music

It’s inevitable that the society where we live it’s reflected in the products that we consume, and obviously, the machismo doesn’t lose the opportunity to appear in most of the lyrics of songs and video clips. Moreover, it’s hard to believe that in the middle of the 21th century we still have to speak about sexist songs that leave the woman figure in the worst place. Thus, this affects to loads of teenagers around the world, and as we know, they are the most consumers of regaeton.

Just to start, to understand utterly this kind of songs we should know the beginnings. There are two versions about the origins of regaeton: some say that it was born in Panama, while others think that it was born in Puerto Rico, where most of regaeton singers come from. Regaeton derives from jamaican Reggae, north-american Hip-Hop and others rhythms. This type of songs started to spread in Latino America. Through years, it has been arriving at all the places of the world.

Nowadays, all of us listen to regaeton songs, although we maybe listen to them unconsciously. For instance, have you ever been walking in the street and heard some teenagers with music? Or, have you ever been watching a video and when it finishes it starts to sound a regaeton song?

PA

So now we want to make you think about that types of songs that maybe you don’t pay attention to the letter but that you should do it. We are going to start with a very popular spanish song among teenagers: “Con calma”.

“Desde que te vi supe que eras pa’ mí” - Daddy Yankee

As we can see, this is an obvious example about a boy that thinks that he can have a woman for him. In most regaeton songs the singer sends possessive messages and, without a doubt, they are referred to a woman. Girls are free and they don’t need any owner.

To show you that there are loads of possessive songs, we searched more songs with the same messages and they were really easy to find them. For instance, there is “Te robo”:

“No sé que tú tienes que yo... Sólo te quiero para mí…” - Zato Dj

Another common message in this songs is blaming the girls about getting them horny. For instance, in “Si me porto mal” we can see a very visible example:

Si me sigues provocando No es culpa mía si me porto mal - Dasoul

We found many more songs but maybe it will be bored to show you all of them. Now, we will compare those Regaeton and sexist songs with feminist songs. Obviously, there aren’t much feminist songs. In our research into this type of music, we had some difficulties to found feminist messages.

PA

Netta, the girl from Israel who won Eurovision 2018, sings a song called “Toy”. It speaks about the power that a woman has.

I'm not your toy - Netta Perhaps it seems a very simple sentence but it describes what some boys think about girls.

Another feminist song sung by Aitana and Ana Guerra is “Lo malo”. A really known sentence that dominated the streets the last 8th of March was: “Yo decido el cuándo, el dónde y con quién”- Aitana and Ana

The last song we will show you is called “Reinas”, from Suu: “Harta, Ojalá que algún día Rompamos ese rol Dejemos de ser princesas Echemos al rey y seamos reinas” - Suu

PA

Last but not least, we wish that after reading our article, you can see how our society is going on nowadays. Now, we are starting to fight against machismo, but we have to realize that we have joined machismo inside us without being conscious, as we can see in the songs.

The revolution will be feminist or it won’t be.

Songs that made history

SInce the 50s with the beginning of some iconic styles as Rock, Blues or Jazz, music has become another way of life, a world apart from real life. During these 70 years, many symbolic songs have been made, songs that have changed the history of music, but what are these songs?

The concert experience

The dictionary defines a concert as “a public musical performance in which a number of singers or instrumentalists, or both, participate”. I, on another hand, would define it as a celebration of life where people can be themselves without the fear of being judged, a place where you should feel safe, somewhere you may not know anyone specifically but you feel close to them regardless as you share the same feeling.

Imagine a 16 year old teenager, on her first bus ride alone to the big city, stomach clenching as she knew hours from then she would be standing in front of her favourite band. The one that covered her bedroom walls, the one that sang to her every day through her headphones. That 16 year old girl would never be the same as those musicians stepped into the stage and started playing. She felt all kinds of things: sweaty and shaking hands, that tingling feeling in her stomach that wouldn't go away, the crawling sensation in her legs and the fear because she knew time was running fast and the concert would end soon. She changed that night. She went to sleep exhausted from all the jumping, all the dancing and singing, all the tears and all the laughing, with only one thought in her mind, “When’s the next one?” She sure knew that one wasn’t the only concert she’d go and couldn’t wait for what the next one had to offer.

As years have passed by I know I have changed a lot, musically speaking. I’ve started listening to music I’d never thought would blast through the walls at my house, and I also have stopped listening to some music years ago made me feel so much. The only thing that hasn't changed has been my love for concerts, though. I love the anticipation, the hours prior to the show where I start feeling nervous and the moment my heart stops for a second when the lights go out and the music starts playing.

How could I not love it? I’ve been to so many concerts during these ten years and every single one has made me feel different. Everyone has been unique even though I’ve seen some of the bands or singers more than once, and that is something to be thankful for. I am thankful for those musicians that made everything possible with all the hard work, I am thankful to the music for all the times it helped me and I am thankful for all those friends, lovers and family who took my hand through a song, who

PA

wiped my tears and hugged me when the lyrics got too real, who smiled with me and enjoyed all those moments by my side. To be able to experience that and to know I am going to continue to experience it for so many more years makes me extremely happy. I hope everyone finds something in music that makes them feel alive, I hope bands and singers never stop going live so people can enjoy their music and I hope those honest feelings concerts make me feel never go away. That careless 16 year old girl grew up and now is a 26 year old woman with loads of responsibilities but she’ll never stop getting those goosebumps when everyone screams at the top of their lungs and starts hearing the lyrics of her favourite song.

Female Beauty Cannons

The female beauty cannon implanted in society has varied throughout history, often changing for social changes and cultural evolution. Usually it plays a very important role in the person. The ideal body size is currently 90-60-90. At the moment it is imperative to have: smooth features, very sharp curves and highlighted with the slim and fibrous figure. The women in 2018 were called Baby Face. The name comes for their artificial facial features in fashion and their natural and bulging cheeks, sweet smile, long legs and a certain thinness.

Society can be very demanding and variable, but we are currently living in a society that is quite advanced with the metrosexuality, however it continues to be quite closed socially, since advertising every now and then is being tested. Although there are many campaigns against these problems we are not socially prepared to face or ask ourselves this causes and all these changes. The former model of Victoria's Secret, Cara Delevingue said: "I lost sight of myself and meant to be happy and successful. I think everything originated in the inner desire to be loved and accepted for others." This leads to many problems, through the same advertising sector, in the face of the models, they have to make many changes in fear they are not accepted in the same job and are fired either because they have not been enough premiums or have little ass...

PA

The current cannons are conditioned by the media and it has entered into the world of the surgery. There are currently several trends, on the one hand, we have the profile they ask for with the advancement of the surgery in order to achieve a perfect image like "television", on the other side, there are the girls who defend the curves that defend healthy life and sports to get a good body that is also fashionable.

In conclusion, all the interests that women have to be thin are related to what clothing brands are asking through their prototype, perhaps the brands will change their aims after a few years. We can now see many ads from different brands of clothing promoting women with a larger body trimming and giving a more natural precepts of women's body.

The evolutions of women’s fashion

Fashion in general has evolved a lot but we are going to talk about women’s fashion and it’s evolution from the 50s until now.

50s Fashion in the 50s was exciting and diverse. There were new colours, fresh silhouettes and different style options for different personalities. Nowadays, the iconic decade is still referenced in the fashion world. The key shape for the decade was feminine, exaggerated hourglass silhouette. Some of the most iconic fashion icons were from the 50s, such as: Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly.

60s The swinging sixties were a time where traditions were broken, self-expression was encouraged. Moving away from the prim and proper ’50s and into rebellious new times, ’60s fashion was revolutionary. Key fashion styles of the decade included mod, beatnik and hippie looks, all of which captured the artful, fun and free spirit of the time.

PA

70s The 1970s was a time when fashion was evolving in many ways. For example, women had more freedom to express themselves. The 1970s style notably preserved the "hippie" look of the '60s, yet gave it a more refined, modern look. Additionally, as convenient travel became the norm, fashion gained influences from around the world. New fashion styles were being introduced to the U.S., inspiring a look that defined a decade.

80s Fashion in the 1980s was all about excess. Everything was big, bold, and utterly glamorous. During the day, ladies rocked power suits with big shoulder pads to prove that they were just as powerful as the gents. By night, they got glammed-up in sequin and one-shoulder styles. A love of brands and designer labels was also evident during the decade. Towards the second half of the ’80s punk looks started trending thanks to the celebrities of the day. Singers, like Madonna and Cyndi Lauper, lead a movement of edgy looks that were not only bold and excessive but also punk. Whitney Houston, on the other hand, embodied a more glamorous style. Models, like Brooke Shields and Cindy Crawford, inspired a love for luxury labels and thanks to Jane Fonda and her workout videos, leotards and leg warmers took over as the most stylish type of athletic wear.

PA

90s Fashion in the 1990s brought forth a youth movement and offered carefree styles which dabbled in rebellion. Grunge and minimalism were the main trends of the decade with hip- hop and “sexy school girl” styles also trending. Music and fashion also went together as fans copied the unique styles of their musical idols. Everyone wanted to look like their favourite musician, be it Britney Spears, Madonna, Gwen Stefani or one of the Spice Girls. Britney offered the schoolgirl look while Gwen Stefani promoted grunge. Kate Moss was the ultimate style queen while Drew Barrymore and Winona Ryder were just as stylish off the screen as they were on.

NOW Nowadays, all fashion trends from the different decades are coming back, such as: bell bottoms, crop tops, oversized denim jackets… back then there were a lot of schools that used uniforms and now there are maybe a few schools with uniforms and teenagers wear clothes that theirs mothers used to wear when they were kids.

In conclusion, people wear whatever they want and whatever they feel comfortable with, a lot of the most iconic fashion trends are making a comeback too since we wear

PA

clothes that were very typical in the 90s and I think that fashion is a great way to express ourselves.

The Met Gala

The Costume Institute Gala at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art is the biggest event on the fashion calendar. Founded by publicist Eleanor Lambert, the benefit was first held in 1948 to encourage donations from New York's high society. In its modern incarnation, the most famous faces from the realms of fashion, film, music and art come together to raise money for the Met's Costume Institute and celebrate the grand opening of its latest exhibition.

Every night is centred on the theme of the new exhibition, with previous themes encompassing everything from Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, to Manus x Machina, Punk: Chaos to Couture and China: Through the Looking Glass. This year's exhibition theme is Camp: Notes On Fashion.

The Met Gala 2019, which marks the event's 71th anniversary, was co-chaired by Lady Gaga, Alessandro Michele, Harry Styles and Serena Williams.

The Met Gala takes place on the first Monday of May, which this year fell on May 6.

(New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art)

What is the Met Gala 2019 theme?

Andrew Bolton, curator of the Costume Institute, has framed the exhibition around Susan Sontag’s seminal 1964 essay Notes on "Camp", which posited different ways in which the concept could be construed. Bolton told Hamish Bowles that he found Sontag’s writings so timely with what is going on culturally and politically that, “he felt it would have a lot of cultural resonance.”

PA

Featuring some 200 fine art and fashion objects, the contents of the exhibition trace the origins of the subject from the 17th century, specifically the court of Versailles, to the present day. “Basically, we go from sun kings to drag queens,” American Vogue editor Anna Wintour said at a press conference in February. A preview of the Johnny Dufort- lensed catalogue indicated that looks from Moschino’s spring/summer 2017 collection, Gucci’s autumn/winter 2016 offering and Off-White’s pre-fall 2018 edit feature within the walls of the Met.

Speaking at the February press summit, Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele said: “This is a very important moment because we will collaborate on the creation of this fantastic exhibition that has a DNA that is related to my work, working to the expression of human nature... Camp is a beautiful word.” Michele also paid tribute to Karl Lagerfeld (designer of Fendi, Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld).

What did everyone wear to the Met Gala 2019?

“Camp: Notes on Fashion” is a fitting theme for the annual Met Gala, which itself is usually a stage for camp costumes, writes Vogue contributor Osman Ahmed in his exploration of the proposition. Co-hosts Lady Gaga, who orchestrated four outfit changes before even entering the ball, Harry Styles, who got his ears pierced to offset his custom Gucci look, and Serena Williams, who chose to accessorise her Versace dress with a pair of trainers, were among the first to show off their interpretations on the theme. A slew of the world's most-famous faces then descended on the red carpet.

(Ezra Miller showing up with her shocking make up)

Now let’s take a look at the co-hosts outfits and dresses:

PA

(Harry Styles wearing a Gucci jumpsuit)

Styles hit the red carpet with Creative Director Alessandro Michele wearing a jumpsuit, comprised of a sheer, lacy black blouse, which shows off many of his tattoos, and a high-waisted pair of black pants, disguising many of the others. He paired his look with heeled patent leather boots

(Lady Gaga wearing a mix of black and pink dresses)

Lady Gaga, a longtime master of Camp red carpet and street style, set foot at the 2019 Met Gala in one of the night's most jaw-dropping outfits. Gaga is one of tonight's co- chairs, and she went all out for her hosting duties by unveiling multiple looks by Brandon Maxwell. It was a very Russian doll effect.

Gaga started in a giant pink dress by Brandon Maxwell. She kept her makeup and accessories doll-like, wearing a pink bow and giant lashes. She then unveiled her pink overcoat to reveal a black dress underneath. She had black bows on to match.

PA

Then she unveiled a third dress, a pink column gown. And finally, she stripped down to lingerie.

(Serena Williams showing up with a shining dress with matching shoes)

Last but not least, Serena Williams, who wore a stunning yellow creation by Atelier Versace on the red carpet, but it was what was underneath that embellished skirt and train that really stole the show. The tennis pro embraced her sportive roots for this evening’s camp theme, slipping on a pair of highlighter green Nike x Off-White Air Force One sneakers. It was an unexpected accessory, but somehow totally worked, as it matched the hue of her off-the-shoulder gown perfectly.

The new folding phones. Are the future of the cell phones?

Introduction

The pasts 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th of February of this year, the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2019 was celebrated in , Spain. This year, there has been the great and awaited novelty: folding mobiles. The Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X are the biggest two foldable phones announced, but the world's first foldable phone was actually the Royole FlexPai.

The first foldable phone: The Royole FlexPai

Royole, a company specialized in flexible components, has advanced to the big brands when it comes to displaying the first folding screen mobile. However, despite how promising it might seem on paper, the live result leaves a lot to be desired. The first conflicting point of the FlexPai is that it is difficult to catalog. It is spoken of as a smartphone because it has the capacity to make calls and can be bent into the shape of a mobile phone, but when it is deployed it acts more like a small tablet. In the same

PA

way that the phablets in their day were difficult to catalog, with these flexible motives something similar happens to us. Following the specifications, we have a device with a 7.8-inch AMOLED flexible screen and a resolution of 1920 x 1440 pixels. This is, a kind of eight-inch tablet with FullHD resolution in 4: 3 format. As it is usual for mobiles to have increasingly panoramic screens, returning to this more square format is already a change.

Inside the FlexPai we have the first surprise. Anticipating also other brands, Royole offers us the Snapdragon 855, the latest Qualcomm chipset and the processor that are expected to add many of the flagships of this 2019. Next to that, we have versions of 6 and 8 GB of RAM together with 128 or 256GB of storage, expandable by microSD. But the performance leaves much to be desired.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold

The most announced foldable phone is the Samsung Galaxy Fold. The Samsung Galaxy Fold has a size of 7.3 inches. Samsung's folding cell phone has a fingerprint reader. The Galaxy Fold will be available in Space Silver, Black Cosmos, Martian Green and Star Blue. The flexible screen of the Samsung Galaxy Fold has a size of 7.3 inches. The panel is of Dynamic AMOLED type with a resolution of 1536x2152 pixels. In addition to the flexible main panel, it has a second screen on the 4.6-inch Super AMOLED deck with HD + resolution and 21: 9 aspect. The operating system of the Galaxy Fold is Android, specifically in its version 9.0 Pie. At the hardware level, the Samsung Galaxy Fold has an internal 7nm 64-bit Octa-core processor, accompanied by 12 GB of RAM. On the other hand we have an internal memory of 512 GB. The

PA

Samsung Galaxy Fold has a total of six cameras: three rear, two interior and one on the deck. The rear camera has a 16 megapixel lens with an aperture of f / 2.2, a secondary lens of 12 megapixels Dual Pixel with aperture of f / 1.5 and f / 2.4, and a telephoto camera of 12 Mpx with 2x optical zoom. The front camera has a 10 megapixel lens and another 8 megapixel lens, while the cover camera has 10 megapixels. The battery of the Galaxy Fold has a capacity of 4380 mAh, which has a direct relationship on your car. On the other hand the phone has fast charging and wireless charging, so you can recharge your battery without using cables. Also, you can use it to load other devices.

The importance of video games nowadays

Video games are present since 1958. The first video game was "Tennis for two", created by William Higginbotham, in which it is simulated a tennis game of two people at a time. Currently, video games have a great influence on the behavior or even the lifestyle of young people, children or even adults. Videogames are a way of interacting with the society, also a way of making friends. That is one of the most basic things in life, because nowadays young people don’t meet to do sports, or go for a walk. They gather to play video games. With video games, you can make great friendships, or learn a lot of things about cooking, history, sports.

Returning to the issue of the influence of video games, sometimes you can be influenced in a negative way. For example, when a new game comes out or you buy a game, you can become isolated from the social world until you get tired of it. Moreover, some people care more about the fictional characters than the real life. They are so addicted, that they can get crazy or hurt someone just to forbid them to play video games.

PA

Leaving apart the bad things from videogames, you can also learn a lot while you are playing. They can prepare you for a lot of things, and in addition you get funny, which is the main goal. It can also develop on you certain skills and improvements when it concerts to solve problems or make decisions.

Also, there are people who make a living while they are playing videogames, as these provide them with money. Recording the games while they are playing, and uploading the videos in "YouTube", broadcast them on live in "" platform or playing competitively, generate money that the creator gives. For example, there are teenagers who currently play video games competitively, and are known worldwide to broadcast their games. They also get paid for broadcasting, because companies can pay them. Moreover, people can donate money for pleasure, and they do not have to pay a required subscription. They only pay it if they want.

In conclusion, videogames have their advantages and disadvantages. I think that some video games can influence a person, but it depends of the person and his mentality.

Furries: a piece of fur and a ton of cringe

Who doesn’t know what these creatures are? Furries are an internet society who dress up like animals that are super colorful, and they think that makes them look cool, but they aren't, at all. So today I’m going to snap out of existence this whole community.

To start, it's a refusal of being a human, which means that the specie you are should not be changed, since it's not a gender and it's not defended by the LGTBQ movement or related to it. Besides, it's actual science that you cannot change your specie, unlike genders that can be changed by surgery. My second point is that they are not realistic, I bet the only realistic part of furries is that they have actual fur, and it's not natural fur, it's made from a costume. Therefore, costumes itself makes them look like a cartoon character and can be misunderstood by a cosplay (cosplay is to dress as a fictional character). If in fact you’re able to see a furry, you will be able to tell it’s one because, a part from dressing like animals, they wear really striking colors sometimes. But that’s not all, they try to live like a human but AS animals… what?! So, imagine you are going to work, and your partner comes at work like this.

PA

The fact that they try to adapt to life of a human being but being in a fur suit doesn’t actually make sense, as I said before, they refuse being a human but it is absolutely distinguishable since they live apart of any other community in the Internet, which leaves me to the next point: they are weird, since to begin with they are not human, to continue, they have their own communities, which would be fine if it wasn’t because every single community is in a way, positively connected with another one and so on. But furries communities are totally isolated and if they are connected, it’s normally by memes communities that make fun of them, look at the meme community from South America for instance:

I know this looks weird but that’s the normal thing you can find in a meme page. And if you still believe they are not isolated from the rest of the communities in Internet, furries, have their own TINDER WEBPAGE!

The reason why they do such things it’s because they actually believe they’re not ready to meet people from the outside communities, the first step to expand borders is to be part of a place with a lot of variety, if you isolate your singular way to be, people won’t normalize that kind of things, so that’s a reason to hate them, they isolate themselves. Because even me would be able to find a girlfriend and I’m so deep into memes, so I can know what they say if they’re abstract figures or if they don’t have text (really nice quirk, isn’t it?), and she may be not interested in that, she may not even like someone

PA

that deep in Internet humor, but since we may be part of a same community, we are normalized one to the other at a level of taste and it wouldn’t be a problem . I was doing some research and I discovered that they have their “Fursonal Identification”.

As we can see in the picture, they have their own name, an invented specie, which makes them less realistic, as well as the color of the fur. They also have like, birth year and gender. I personally believe that these kind of things are what makes them even more normalized to be hated, since that’s the kind of things nobody needs to be part of a community except private clubs, but still. Even in other communities they have a nickname that identifies them, but not a DNI wannabe, just a name.

I can only take conclusions from here, and they’re not good. As far as I’m concerned, depending of your characteristics as human you have different privileges. As more normal as it would be defined in actual society the more you are the more privilege you have. For example, if you are straight, white and a man, you are the person with more privileges in the world. But if you’re a black, transgender woman that is homo, you have less than 0 privilege. So, if you’re a furry, you are an animal, if you’re an animal you’re not human. If you’re not a human, you don’t have privilege. If you don’t have privileges everyone hates you, even more if they realize you’re a human and you’re refusing to it and to the privileges of being one, and for equality we all believe that since all humans should get privileges by equal, animals shouldn’t have privileges since that will cause a chain of events that will finish into a devastation of the world and animals won’t be eaten, causing overpopulations. So, in the end, if we’re able to evict all of this will be by making furries illegal.

The globalization: does it mean more freedom?

Globalization, a key and very important concept which is very difficult to define. It is a fact that always surrounds us but none of us sees it or gives it a sufficient value either. Probably all of us, some times of our life, we heard the word “GLOBALIZATION”, but nobody gives it an importance nor we stop and we think about it what’s the true meaning. Globalization, as its name implies, is something at a global level. It is a large scale economic, technological, social and cultural process, which consists in creating a growing communication and interdependence between the countries of the world, unified markets, societies and cultures, through a series of social, economic and political transformations.

Easier, we could define it as: Process of interconnection between all countries in different fields, accelerated by the development of new technologies. This fact can be a harmful and dangerous for our world. However, it can bring us very good and blessing things or, better, advantages.

These could be some disadvantages: ● For instance, one of the most important and tough bad aspect it would be that, only the 20% of the society would be benefit if there exist the globalization. ● Due to the developing countries, every time more and more countries it exist the increasing of the poverty. The big , and important business, are leveraging about this situations and they do it transporting their projects in these locations for extract benefit and leaving these place poors.

PA

● Many places that are not big, rather the opposite, can lose their customs, their culture. ● Labor rights have not been globalized: wages are very low in poor countries, many hours are worked without security, there are no vacations or days off, and the exploitation of women and children is growing. However, it has also developed some advantages: ● Nevertheless, the globalization has allowed the growth of commercial exchanges. ● New forms of distribution and marketing have been developed. ● It has helped the creation of new work games, and has allowed new ways of working, for example, teleworking. Thanks to technologies we are always informed of what is happening to everyone. We can know right now what is happening on the other side of the planet. And now, my question is, does globalization give us or means more freedom? Well, in my opinion it does not give us more freedom or steal it from us. It is simply another way or another different point of view which contains advantages and inconveniences at the same time.

I think if you could find a point in between, that is, without harming anyone and that we all come out with the same benefits, it would be the best for us and the world.

Every month a newcomer, a "greenie", joins the Gladers, sent by a lift with all past memories (except language and other common things) wiped out. The only thing that they really do remember is their name. They are watched by large mechanical beetles, called 'beetle blades' which belong to their 'creators'. The ultimate goal of The Gladers, is to find a way out of The Glade. Choose your own adventure: Matt Green in Lake Ness

Story by: Pau Matabosch, Mar Isanta, Ying Zhou, Jakey Gao, Arnau Vila, Edgar Vázquez, Marçal Piqué.

“Hello!! My name is Matt Green and my superhero name is Fusion. My best friend is called Steven Blue. I can transform myself into any animal I want and my friend has magic powers. This is my story, I hope you can help me!!”

1 Once upon a time, Matt Green and Steven Blue were walking when the police called them. They told them there was a monster in Lake Ness that was scaring the visitors and breaking everything. Going there, they saw two different paths. One was really long, full of light and flowers. The other path was really short but dark, scary and dangerous. Which path do you want them to go?

If you want them to go through the long path that’s full of light and flowers, go to part 2.

If you want them to go through the short path that’s dark, scary and dangerous, go to part 3.

2 They took the long but safe path. They walked a lot and they were really bored.

When they arrived they didn't know what to do.

If you want them to investigate, go to part 4.

If you want them to have lunch and relax a little, go to part 5.

PA

3 They took the short path because they didn’t to walk a lot. They were surprised because there were zombies, carnivore plants and dangerous animals, but they weren’t frightened. Matt turned into a cheetah, fought all the enemies with the help of Steven’s magic and they won. When they arrived they didn’t know what to do.

If you want them to investigate, go to part 4.

If you want them to have lunch and relax a little, go to part 5.

4 They started to investigate and they found some strange paw prints on the floor.

They followed them and they found a spaceship. The monster that was frightening the people was actually an alien!!

When they had the alien monster in front of them they didn’t know what to do. Do you want the monster to be a friend or an enemy?

If you want the alien monster to be a friend, go to part 6.

If you want the alien monster to be an enemy, go to part 7.

5 They were so tired and hungry; they stopped to have some lunch. They had carrots, sandwiches and some candy. When they were eating the sandwiches, the monster came and ate their candy!!

6 They were really afraid and fell in the lake. They had a lot of superpowers but they didn’t know how to swim!! The alien monster helped them and took them out if the water. They were freezing and realised the water took their powers off. The powers came back once they were completely dry. Matt and Steven were really surprised because the monster was, at the end, a friend. They thanked him giving him some more candy as a present and he left to his planet on the spaceship.

The story has ended. Do you want it to be a part of a movie or a dream?

If you want the story to be a part of a movie, go to part 8.

7 They started fighting against the monster because he was scaring every tourist and breaking everything. The police decided to put the monster back into the spaceship and to send him back to his planet.

SUMMER TIPS

In this article you can find some advices, a game, and a recipe that may be useful for your holidays.

We will explain you some activities to do this summer, which is very short and we have to try to take the maximum advantage of it. These activities can be done with family, friends, neighbours, and boyfriends or girlfriends.

Moreover, all of them are funny and refresh… and crazy!

Advices

- If you want to sunbathe, remember to put some sunscreen. And if you are so pale, don’t expose yourself to the sun. Otherwise you will become a prawn.

- If you go to the beach, and the flag is red, don’t swim in the sea. Jellyfishes and sharks could bite you.

- Drink a lot of water to avoid become a raisin.

- Eat a lot of sweets… Sorry, we meant... fruit! :P

- Do sport to get a fit body (“cuerpazo”)

- Try new things like parachute, surf, swim with dolphins, and whatever you can imagine!

- Travel around your house.

Game

Chess is a very good sport to practice in summer with a refreshing cola. It is perfect to train your mind, because you have to think the strategy to win the match. It consists of moving some pieces to kill others.

PA

You only need a chessboard, which is black and white, and 32 pieces. These pieces are a king, a queen, two knights, two rooks, two bishops, and 8 pawns per color.

Normally, the match can take from 30 minutes to 1 hour and a half, or even more!

The winner is who kills the king, and that is called “checkmate”.

Recipe

Would you like to know the recipe of the most delicious ice cream of the world? Here you are!

Instructions:

1. Go to the Chinese shops, and buy an ice cream machine. Also available in Amazon. 2. Prepare the ingredients: whatever you want… orange juice, milk, apple juice, lemonade, chocolate, sweets, and for the most daring people, blue cheese, sugar beet, pizza, spinach, broccoli, and so on. 3. Mix all the ingredients into the machine and put it in the freezer. 4. Finally, wait 24 hours and remove it from the freezer.

Enjoy your ice cream!

PS: For the laziest people, go to Carrefour, Bon area or Consum, and for only 1 € you can buy 10 ice creams. Or if you have more money, go to Xixonenca which is better (also more expensive).

We hope that with all our advices and activities you will enjoy a lot of the summer.

Games to learn English

Movers Team would like to propose you a pair of games to practice English in a funny way. Both of them are competitive games, so you will have to do your best to be the winner!

1.- BOTHER YOUR NEIGHBOUR

This game is very useful to review all the grammar of the whole course. To play, you have to divide the group into teams of 2-3 people. Each team will prepare some difficult questions, and then they will "send" them to another team.

The goal is to do it very difficult to avoid that the other team knows the answers. If they fail, first team wins the points.

But there is one condition, the team that sends the question must also know the answer!

The winner will be the team with more points.

By Martina Setvalls

PA

2.- JEOPARDY

In this game you will need to draw a board with a score from 100 to 500 according with the difficulty, and also different categories (you can decide them depending what you want to practice).

Again, you have to divide the group in different teams. Each team will choose one category and the score.

Example:

Past simple Parts of the body Write numbers Present continuous

100

200

300 X

400

500

Team 1: We choose "Parts of the body", 300 points...

Master: Okay, you should tell me in English "colze".

Team 1: Elbow!

Master: Nice, 300 points for you.

Next team... category and score.

If they answer properly the question, they win the points.

Then it is the turn of another team. The point is that they cannot choose the same box, because it is already done. So, they have to decide another difficulty and category.

The winner will be the team who has more points.

Declared fan of The Lord of the Rings, The Silence of the Lambs and Howl’s moving castle, but I will deny saying that I only have three favourite movies and books. If you like movies and literature, you can read me at El cinèfil i L’escriba, two magazines I work for. I also love writing, and you can find some of the short stories I write on my personal web page, solanich.cat and in the publications of the Edicions Xandri under the title of Terra de crims (2017) and El futbol és així (2018), and a new one coming, Política criminal (2019).

Salim Achtibat University student. I like to read, I like to write. I like to think, I like to dream. I like to listen, I like to talk. I like to smell the wind coming from the ocean.

There are many things I enjoy and make me feel good. One of them is to teach and learn from the little ones. Every day is a new adventure, where we laugh and have a good time together.

In my free time I like to listen to music, play video games and watch series. But if there's one thing I really like, it's anime movies. Did you know that animated films can bring a level of abstraction and a kind of beauty difficult with other media, so the emotional experience can be enhanced via the medium?

In few years I hope to be living in Japan, where you will probably find me playing a recreative machine in downtown.

Clàudia Madrid García

English teacher, book nerd, videogame lover. When I was younger I used to tell myself I would never let any job define me, but years later I know I was wrong because how wouldn't it define me when it has taught me so much?

I love learning new languages (currently studying Italian and sign language) and visiting new countries where I can find out as many as possible about its traditions and its people. Whenever I have free time I love losing myself in concerts that make me feel alive since music is what makes my heart beat faster. If anyone told me I must

choose a place to live in forever I’d choose a concert of my favourite band, The Maine, without a doubt.

I’ve also been writing since I was a teenager and that has helped me a lot through the years, that's why I always encourage my teenage students to let their feelings flow in a paper and write anything they are feeling at the moment. I’ve always thought writing is really therapeutic and can help anyone if they are brave enough to be honest through written words.

Whenever I’m home and I don't feel like going out I’m always browsing Netflix or playing videogames. I have seen a lot of series but I’ll always keep Sense8 and Peaky Blinders in my heart. I am also a big lover of cinema and I love to get lost into a psychological thriller or an indie movie; Inception, Shutter Island, Before We Go and Call Me By Your Name are some of my top favourite movies.

If I’m not doing any of the things I’ve mentioned before, you’ll probably find me enjoying a cold drink in a terrace anywhere in town, being blinded by the sun and enjoying my loved ones’ company.

Natàlia Faja Flores Superior Grade Formative Course on interior design management, and Degree in translation and interpretation. Yes, I am also a designer! These are my two passions. I was working as a computer graphic designer for 5 years, but I always felt that I wanted to focus on languages.

Nowadays I work as a sworn translator, specialised in legal translation. I am the typical freak that enjoys struggling with impossible legal texts. And I am also an English and German teacher in Okschool. I feel very lucky, because I can combine different activities that completely fulfil me: practising languages and interacting with kids.

My hobbies used to be reading all kind of books, going to the cinema and theatre, practising sport, and so on. Since I am a mother, I have to admit that I only read children's books, and go to the park!

I love travelling and meeting new cultures. In my opinion, this is the best way to enrich you as a person… here the importance to learn English!

Lídia Llopart I feel really fortunate to be part of the okschool team!! An intelligent, creative, hardworking and collaborative group of teachers that makes everything really easy and fun!

I’m a teacher, a friend and a mother. A nature lover and a cycling or trekking passionate. If you want to find me, just follow a quiet mountain path and it’s quite possible to meet me there! Although if I have had the chance to go abroad and discover a new culture and people, then I will delay the nature walk or ride after my arrival.

I consider myself a positive and happy person, someone you can count on any time you need it and a brave or “unconscious” enterpreneur! I say “unconscious” just to exaggerate that when I want to reach a goal, I do all my best to get it!!

My daughters are my precious and unique treasures and I always try to perform all my hobbies and interests with them because then, any activity becomes much much better and bigger!! But, in case they don’t want to join, I keep on carrying it on, of course!! They are my treasures, not my setbacks!
