Bridge Logos (ORM) offers 35-minute excursion trains on the first and third Saturdays of each month for the public from 10 am until 4 pm starting the first Saturday in April. The trains leave the historic Oakwood Depot at 9:15, 11:15, 1:15 and 3:15 The Museum itself is open Thursday - Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm and there is no admission charge to tour the grounds. Train rides are free for children under the age of 3, $5 for children 3 years to 12 years, and These Frisco and Rock Island Railroad $12 for those 13 years and older. In later years, it was acquired by the Dewey County Historical Society and moved to a property just west of Watonga, Oklahoma. They were rebuilt at Topeka, Kansas in 1940 from class Fe-S cars (General American Transportation Corp. 1928 built, wood body, steel under frame and end cars). CONX 50020 /Santa Fe 6919 Status: Active Santa Fe class Fe-23. Rebuilt Topeka, Kansas in 1941 from class Fe-S cars (General American Transportation Corp. 1928 built, wood body, steel under frame OKRX 814 and end cars). ORM has 3 of these “Auto box cars”. Cars was used to transport autos, trucks, farm equipment and heavy machinery. Santa Fe RR used them to transport Crossly automobiles. Continental Oil Company used end loading capabilities for grease drums. Continental Oil donated these cars to the ORM. Two of them have the end doors welded shut but one still appears to be serviceable. Boxcar Status: Active Build Date: Unknown OKRX 301 Donated to ORM in 2014 by HIS Paint Manufacturing Company of Oklahoma City Status: Active 6 35 CONX 50001 & CONX 50014 EMD SW8 Built in 1952 by General Motors, Electro- Motive Division for the US Army. Was used in Korea during the war. Re-manufactured at Hill Air Force base in September 1987, and then locomotive was delivered to Army Ammunition plant in McAlister OK., Nov. 18, 1987. From there it was transferred to Fort Sill OK August 17 1992. While at Fort Sill the engine was sent to Tulsa for painting and when returned there were flat spots on wheels on axles 1, 2, &4. ORM had the wheels turned before locomotive could be shipped to OKC. Purchased from the Army Status: In Storage Weight: 229,000 pounds CONX 50020 Fuel: 600 gallons EMD F9A Built in September 1954 by EMD. Builders no. 19741. Northern Pacific Railway Company was the original owner and the unit had road number 7003-D. When the NP merged into the Burlington Northern Railroad the number changed to 814. Locomotive retired and donated by Status: In Storage Burlington Northern to ORM in 1982. The original prime mover was a model 567C Rock Island Boxcar converted to a model 645. Weight: 247,400 pounds Fuel: 1000 gallons GE 45 TON Built in 1941 by General Electric for the US Army, Road # 1202 Builders No. - 13059 Rebuilt 9/82. Date acquired - 2000 by donation of ORM member Dan Rohrback & Vulcan Chemical Co. Previous owners Dodge City Ford & Bucklin, Vulcan Chemicals - Wichita, Kansas, US Army at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. Weight: 90,000 pounds Fuel: 75 + 75 gallons 34 7 Santa Fe 2571 Reefer car This 40-foot ice bunker, refrigerator car is believed to have been used on the Wisconsin Central Car Lines. It houses ORM’s Wood Shop. Status: Active Wooden Boxcar Built: Unknown Missing trucks Santa Fe 90 Wooden Boxcar Built: Unknown Status: On Display Missing trucks 8 33 WCLX 2077 EMD/ATSF CF7 Originally an F7A, # 202L, a covered wagon similar to the museums F9A, OKRX 814. It was converted to CF7 road switcher configuration in 1972 by AT&SF at their Cleburne TX shops.

    Union Depot Tower Interlocking Plant

    Union Depot Tower Union Depot Tower (U.D. Tower) was completed in 1914 as part of a municipal project to improve rail transportation through Joliet, which included track elevation of all four railroad lines that went through downtown Joliet and the construction of a new passenger station to consolidate the four existing passenger stations into one. A result of this overall project was the above-grade intersection of 4 north-south lines with 4 east-west lines. The crossing of these rail lines required sixteen track diamonds. A diamond is a fixed intersection between two tracks. The purpose of UD Tower was to ensure and coordinate the safe and timely movement of trains through this critical intersection of east-west and north-south rail travel. UD Tower housed the mechanisms for controlling the various rail switches at the intersection, also known as an interlocking plant. Interlocking Plant Interlocking plants consisted of the signaling appliances and tracks at the intersections of major rail lines that required a method of control to prevent collisions and provide for the efficient movement of trains. Most interlocking plants had elevated structures that housed mechanisms for controlling the various rail switches at the intersection. Union Depot Tower is such an elevated structure.     The Railway Series Books by the Rev'd Wilbert V Awdry

    The Awdry Connection with the Talyllyn Railway. The Rev. Wilbert Awdry inherited an interest in railways from his father, the Rev. Vere Awdry, and together with his brother George, became a keen railway modeller. His first book in what was to become “The Railway Series” had been published in 1945, and by 1951 he had written four more. In February that year, someone knowing his interests, sent him an article which had appeared in the Birmingham Mail entitled “EIGHT MILES OF RAILWAY TO PLAY WITH – AND REAL TRAINS - FOR £1 A YEAR”. That railway was the Talyllyn Railway, and Wilbert’s interest was aroused sufficiently to apply for membership of the newly formed Preservation Society: his receipt was numbered 79. Coincidentally, Wilbert had a distant cousin Frank who lived in Tywyn. They had never met, but Wilbert and George had visited Frank’s sisters in Clevedon, Somerset, and had heard stories about the ‘somewhat wayward little railway’ in Tywyn. In August 1952 Wilbert, together with his wife Margaret, son Christopher and daughters Veronica and Hilary, visited the Talyllyn Railway for the first time. On arrival, Wilbert and Christopher went straight to Wharf Station to introduce themselves to Tom Rolt, the General Manager. Wilbert volunteered to do duty as a Guard during the second week of his holiday. The most memorable incident of the week was when he left the Refreshment Lady behind in the Booking Office at Abergynolwyn – the first of many events that Wilbert was to enshrine in future books. It was almost inevitable that, having become a regular visitor and volunteer on the Talyllyn Railway, Wilbert should find a way to write about it in his books.

The book is titled "Thomas the Tank Engine," and its main character is a train engine. Prince Harry introduces a new program called "Thomas and Friends: The Royal Engine."
