Principal Grape Varieties In the heart of the Lugana area on the southern shores of Lake Trebbiano di Lugana, Corvina, Garda, the winery was established in 1960, when the late Corvinone, Rondinella, Osoleta Sergio Zenato and his wife Carla started to create quality wines from the local grape variety Trebbiano di Lugana. The Leone de Castris winery is based in Salice Salentino and Principal Grape Varieties is an intrinsic part of the history of wine-making in the Southern Negroamaro, Primitivo, Aleatico, Italian region of Puglia. Principal Grape Varieties Grecanico, Insolia, Syrah, From day one, the philosophy behind Cusumano has been to Chardonnay, Nero d’Avola, emphasise the importance of terroir. Grillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cusumano was established in 2000 when brothers Alberto and Merlot Diego took over from their father, who had been growing grapes for 40 years. In 2004, they expanded again with the acquisition of a new holding in San Giacomo, in the territory of Buttera, to the south of the island. The brothers have assembled a team that has a rich experience in viticulture and above all an absolute passion for winemaking. Because of their intimate knowledge of the Sicilian terroir, Diego and Alberto have been able to find prime vineyard locations throughout Sicily. These vineyards allow maximum expression of not only indigenous Sicilian grape varieties but of international varietals that, according to Diego, evolve to take on their own Sicilian identity.
