Nicki Wicked Had the Rhythm in Her Body Since Childhood, and Had Been the Drummer in a Hardcore Band. Ida Evileye and Klara Forc Nicki Wicked had the rhythm in her body since childhood, and had been the drummer in a hardcore band. Ida Evileye and Klara Force had met in school and played a bit together whilst Mia Coldheart had also played with Ida in another group. Immediately they realised they fitted perfectly together, both musically and in their way of life. In December 2004 their first single, ’Losing the Game’ was released. It became a Top 10 single in the Swedish charts. Both the single and video were played frequently on national TV and radio stations in Sweden and abroad. Crucified Barbara’s debut album “In Distortion We Trust” was released in January 2005 and excellent reviews followed. The band headed out for some successful touring both supporting bigger acts and on their own. The touring continued during the spring and summer of 2006 and the ‘Barbara’s’ played at some major festivals around Europe including the Sweden Rock festival, Rock Hard, Masters of Rock and more. This hard touring schedule paid dividends and they gained a reputation for being a great live act. The autumn of 2006 continued with them touring Australia and in November they once again packed their cases, this time for a full UK tour supporting Motörhead. Whilst the band were busy touring, the debut album was re-released in October 2006 with a bonus DVD featuring the band on the road. It included both on and off stage material as well as 3 bonus tracks. ‘In Distortion We Trust’ saw the light of day in both North and South America in 2006 and in the summer of 2007 it was Japan's turn to get to know Crucified Barbara. Finally at the end of 2007 the band had time to start working with new material. The recording was made during the first part of 2008 with Jocke Skog from Clawfinger behind the mixing desk and Mats Levén producing with help from the band themselves. Immediately after recording the new album, Crucified Barbara was offered a Special Guest slot on the Backyard Babies UK tour. Of course, these ladies couldn’t refuse such an offer and it also gave them a chance to test their new material, which was received very well. The first single “Sex Action” was released on November 5 2008 and the video for the song was widely shown. On Feb 11 2009, almost exactly four years since Crucified Barbara’s debut, the second album ‘”Til’ death Do Us Party” was released in Scandinavia and on Feb 27th, in the rest of Europe. In October it was released in Japan through Bickee Music/Happinet. Reviews was amazing with quotes such as ‘the best album ever’ and ‘a total metal classic’ summing up what many in the press have had to say. Sales surpassed those for the debut album and the band spent much of the time since the second cds release playing a mixture of festivals and club gigs to bigger and bigger crowds. Their appearance at Sweden Rock Festival in 2009 was one of the highlights of the whole festival. In November-December 2009 the band headed out for their first full European headlining tour. Six weeks of success. This was also documented and was released as a DVD ‘Til Death Do uS Party Tour 2009’ in late 2011. In February 2010 Crucified Barbara performed with a semi hardrock ballad, ‘Heaven Or Hell’ on Swedish National TV in front of half the population in the country. They were in the Eurovision Song Contest and made it through to the semi-final, not bad going for a hardrock band! The single ‘Heaven Or Hell’ since then was most wanted and played at several radiostations, it hit the Swedish Top 40 single Charts, it reached number 7 on Swedish legendary radioshow ‘Svensktoppen’ and Crucified Barbara headlined both weekly and daily papers for weeks. Crucified Barbara have just finished the recordings for their 3rd album to be released in march 2012. .

People’s desire and need to visit these events only seems to increase. Cultural tourism and music tourism has developed into a significant and important part of the experience industry and it employs more and more people within the tourism industry. The purpose of this paper is to investigate which effects this can have on the local community. Focus is held on the touristic and economic impact on the nearby municipality and region. The paper is based on a case study on Sweden Rock Festival, which is one of Swedens largest music festivals with a heavy-metal direction. Sweden Rock Festival is located in the south of Sweden in a small municipality called Sölvesborg. Sölvesborg has about 17 000 inhabitants and each year some 33 200 festival visitors decend on the area to attend the festival. To investigate the touristic and economic impact that Sweden Rock Festival has on Sölvesborg, interviews have been conducted. These interviews have been done by either telephone or by e-mail with people from the municipality, the Sweden Rock Festival organization and people with connections to the local business life. Also, two experienced festival attenders have been interviewed to investigate the visitors use of the area’s supply of tourism attractions besides Sweden Rock Festival.

I would say, the reception has been fantastic, its phenomenal to be honest. The reviews are great, it's even getting airplay on the radio, it's getting on the charts, even the mainstream medias in Sweden are picking it up and writing about it. I never ever experienced that they write about something like this. Yes, I just saw that you posted that you are on nu. 4 or nu. 5 on the Swedish hard rock charts today, which is really good. You never had any prior success on the charts with your other bands or projects? Yes, with Eclipse and with W.E.T. we actually went to nu.1, a couple of years ago. If it wasn't, well I mean, that almost the same day Dream Theater released their album, just one week earlier Megadeth and Avantasia the same day, there are so many good bands and big names.     SYSTRARNA HÅRDROCK Diskurser inom kvinnliga hårdrocksmusikers lärandemiljöer Jakob Wickzell Examensarbete, 30 hp Examensarbete – estetiska ämnen, 30 hp Vt 2019 Sammanfattning Denna studie utforskar kvinnors förutsättningar för att lära sig hårdrocksmusicerande, med ett fokus på vilken roll olika miljöer spelar för lärandet. Även tidigare forskning inom hårdrock och genusforskning inom musicerande, samt skola och didaktikperspektiv lyfts. Den teoretiska utgångspunkten är diskursiv med en metod för diskursanalys i Foucault-stil. I studien genomförs intervjuer med fyra kvinnliga hårdrocksmusiker. Studiens deltagare har lärt sig att musicera i skola, fritidsgårdar, workshops, i sina band, via internet och vid liveframträdanden. Musiklärare har ökat möjligheterna till lärande för individerna. För vissa har det varit viktigt med förebilder, både manliga och kvinnliga. Bemötande från publik och medmusiker har till stor del varit positivt, men de har även erfarenheter utav sexistiska kommenterar, från bland annat journalister och ljudtekniker. Deltagarna är inte eniga i om de är för eller emot kvotering inom hårdrocksmusiken. Att vara kvinna i ett mansdominerat sammanhang ökar mängden uppmärksamhet som bandet får, vilket kan vara upplevas både positivt och negativt. Sweden Rock Festival is one of the biggest festivals in Sweden and its focus on rock music in its different forms keeps the audience coming back and keeps the festival going. Time and time again the festival is noticed as being one of the safer festivals based on the amount of reported assaults and reported accidents. The purpose of this paper is to try to find the reason why the Sweden Rock Festival is perceived as safe. Looking at our rules and regulations harassment, violent crimes and sexual predatory behaviour is more common on a city street in daylight than it is at the festival even if some men and women are barely wearing clothes, are intoxicated and at times sleeping alone in the grass in a secluded area. The materials put together show that people choose to co-exist and care for each other to keep the festival safe and welcoming. The paper is based on my own observations at the festival as well as interviews with other visitors, these were conducted in person. I have found statistics from the police and materials written about the festival. I have chosen to use the theory of homophily in some parts of the analysis but I am focusing on performance theories as well as the values and morals aspect to get a full picture of what actually happens when you set foot at the Sweden Rock Festival.

December 10th, 2019 Swedish metal band Narnia is now officially confirmed for the 2020 edition of Sweden Rock Festival. Sweden’s biggest rock festival will take place in Sölvesborg June 3-6, with previously announced bands like Volbeat, Nightwish, Opeth, D.A.D., Accept, Mercyful Fate, Blue Öyster Cult and Raubtier. To celebrate this, Narnia releases an unreleased live video on a couple of songs from the live album; We Still Believe - Made in Brazil (2017). Narnia is now confirmed for Sweden Rock Festival this summer, where more than 80 bands will perform on the festival’s five stages for 30,000 visitors, June 3-6. This will be the second time Narnia performs at Sweden Rock Festival, but this time, the band has noticeably more wind in the sails, after the recent successes with the album From Darkness to Light and the following tour. This summer, the album charted Sverigetopplistan, received 1st position in Sweden Rock Maga- zine’s “The Jury”, and recently became selected as the 15th best album of 2019 in the same magazine. To celebrate this, the band releases a previous unreleased live video of the songs Inner Sanctum and No More Shadows From The Past from the album We Still Believe - Made in Brazil, recorded by Viktor Stenquist in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, during the band’s first South American tour 2017.
