Robert Cianflone Reigning U.S. silver medalist Jason Brown is in Oberstdorf, Germany, for the Nebelhorn Trophy. He kept a blog for icenetwork from the event, his first international competition since the Sochi Winter Olympics. Saturday, Sept. 27 Today was officially the conclusion of the Nebelhorn Trophy. The ladies free skate kicked off the day, and both Mariah Bell and Gracie Gold skated beautiful programs. Mariah finished her first senior event in fifth, and Gracie brought home the bronze for Team USA! The dance event began shortly after the ladies finished. I can't even put into words how breathtaking both Kaitlin Hawayek and JeanLuc Baker, and Madison Chock and Evan Bates' programs were. March 21, 2019 Saitama, Japan Wenjing Sui/Cong Han (CHN) soar to Pairs gold in Saitama China’s Wenjing Sui/Cong Han soared to the Pairs gold medal as the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Saitama (JPN) on Thursday. Russia’s Evgenia Tarasova/Vladimir Morozov settled for the silver medal while their teammates Natalia Zabiiako/Alexander Enbert earned the bronze. All three teams set new seasons best scores. Skating last, Sui/Han delivered a brilliant performance to “Rain, In Your Black Eyes” by Ezio Bosso, hitting a triple toe-double toe-double toe combination, triple twist, triple Salchow, throw triple flip and throw triple Salchow as well as level-four lifts. The reigning Olympic silver medalists scored 155.60 points for their Free Skating and moved up from second to first at 234.84 points to win their second World title after 2017. “We are very happy to have shown our best performance and to win this Championship. We had a tough time we could not prepare so well and did not have much time to practice. Our coaches and our team gave us a lot of support and we knew we can make it and get the title. Winning the second time was harder and it was a team effort,” Sui commented. Overnight leaders Tarasova/Morozov turned in a strong performance to “Winter” by Balmorhea that featured a big triple twist, throw triple loop and Salchow as well as spectacular lifts. However, Morozov was somewhat shaky on the solo jumps triple toe and triple Salchow. The two-time European Champions picked up 147.26 points and slipped to second at 228.47 points.

More recently, Milan has hosted the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships in 2013 and the ISU European Figure Skating Championships in 1998. 192 Skaters from 43 ISU Members have been entered for the Championships: 37 Men, 37 Ladies, 28 Pairs and 31 Ice Dance couples. Skaters and couples need to have obtained a minimum total technical score in the Short Program and Free Skating in order to compete at the World Championships. The event features 2018 Olympic Champions Alina Zagitova (RUS) and Aljona Savchenko/Bruno Massot (GER) as well as Olympic medalists Shoma Uno (JPN), Kaetlyn Osmond (CAN) and Gabriella Papadakis / Guillaume Cizeron (FRA). Overview of the top contenders Men The Men’s event promises to be very competitive with many Men having a shot at the podium. 2018 Olympic silver medalist and reigning World silver medalist Shoma Uno (JPN) comes to Italy with a seasons best of 319.84 points and hopes to take his first World title. Competition should come from 2017 World bronze medalist and 2018 Four Continents Champion Boyang Jin (CHN seasons best 300.95 points), who finished fourth at the Olympic Winter Games and ISU Grand Prix Final Champion Nathan Chen (USA seasons best 297.35), who was fifth in PyeongChang, where he landed five clean quadruple jumps in the Free Skating.

2021 Toyota U.S. Figure Skating Championships January 11-21, 2021 Las Vegas | The Orleans Arena Media Information and Story Ideas The U.S. Figure Skating Championships, held annually since 1914, is the nation’s most prestigious figure skating event. The competition crowns U.S. champions in ladies, men’s, pairs and ice dance at the senior and junior levels. The 2021 U.S. Championships will serve as the final qualifying event prior to selecting and announcing the U.S. World Figure Skating Team that will represent Team USA at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Stockholm. The marquee event was relocated from San Jose, California, to Las Vegas late in the fall due to COVID-19 considerations. San Jose meanwhile was awarded the 2023 Toyota U.S. Championships, marking the fourth time that the city will host the event. Competition and practice for the junior and Championship competitions will be held at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The event will take place in a bubble format with no spectators. Las Vegas, Nevada This is the first time the U.S. Championships will be held in Las Vegas. The entertainment capital of the world most recently hosted 2020 Guaranteed Rate Skate America and 2019 Skate America presented by American Cruise Lines. The Orleans Arena The Orleans Arena is one of the nation’s leading mid-size arenas. It is located at The Orleans Hotel and Casino and is operated by Coast Casinos, a subsidiary of Boyd Gaming Corporation. The arena is the home to the Vegas Rollers of World Team Tennis since 2019, and plays host to concerts, sporting events and NCAA Tournaments.

ISU JUNIOR GRAND PRIX OF FIGURE SKATING SERIES 2017/18 #JGPFigure Press Release October 16, 2017 Finalists for ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final are determined #JGPFigure Skaters from Australia, Canada, Japan, Russia and the USA have qualified for the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in Nagoya (JPN) in December. The last spots were determined when the series of seven qualifying events concluded in Egna (ITA) last weekend. Alexei Erokhov (RUS) and Alexei Krasnozhon (USA) lead the Men’s standings and claimed two gold medals on the circuit. Camden Pulkinen (USA), Mitsuki Sumoto (JPN), Makar Ignatov (RUS) and Andrew Torgashev (USA) booked their tickets to Nagoya as well. All except Krasnozhon qualified for the first time for the Final. The Russian Junior Ladies dominated the circuit and five of them proceed to the Final: Alexandra Trusova, Sofia Samodurova, Alena Kostornaia, Daria Panenkova and Anastasia Tarakanova. The field is completed by Rika Kihira (JPN), who is the only one to return to the ISU Junior Grand Prix Final. In the Pair Skating, World Junior Champions Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya / Harley Windsor (AUS) and World Junior silver medalists Aleksandra Boikova / Dmitrii Kozlovskii come back to the Junior Final while World Junior bronze medalists Yumeng Gao / Zhong Xie (CHN) made it for the first time. Newcomers are the top qualifiers Daria Pavliuchenko / Denis Khodykin (RUS) and Apollinariia Panfilova / Dmitry Rylov (RUS) while Anastasia Poluianova / Dmitry Sopot (RUS) were in the Final before, but with different partners. World Junior bronze medalists Christina Carreira / Anthony Ponomarenko (USA) top the list of qualifiers in Ice Dance after winning their two events.
