Integrates explanatory health and mental health theories relevant to social work. Human Sexuality in Clinical Social Work 2007 – spring 2020 Architect of this course as an Practice (SOWK 674) elective; addresses various aspects of gender and sexuality with a clinical emphasis. Group Psychotherapy (SOWK 694) 2000 – spring 2020 Students are introduced to the (minus 1 year) Yalom model of group psychotherapy through Experiential learning. Other group models are also taught to introduce students to the range of group therapies. Social Work Practice with Individuals, 2015 - 2019 Newly designed course with Families, and Groups (SOWK 544) curriculum revision; introduces students to generic social work including the values of the profession; work at micro and mezzo levels; diversity emphasis. China Immersion (SOWK 599) Spring 2017 Didactic and travel immersion to Hong Kong and Shanghai. Focus on holistic health and sexuality from an Eastern perspective. Human Behavior in Mental Health 1992 – 2015 This course examines explanatory Settings (SOWK 605) (minus 1 year) theories of mental health and illness from a biopsychosocial pers- pective. Social Work Practice with Individuals 1992 – 2015 This course was the forerunner of (SOWK 543) (minus 1 year) SOWK 544, teaching the basics of social work practice and introducing the student to work with individuals. Social Work Practice with Families and 1992- 2015 This course was the forerunner of Groups (minus 1 year) SOWK 544, introducing the student (SOWK 545) to work with families and groups. Social Work Practice with Clients with Spring, 2007 Elective practice course addressing Personality Disorders (SOWK 599) evidence-based interventions for clients with personality disorders. Human Behavior in the Social 1992 - 2005 Introductory course addressing Environment (SOWK 505) various theories of development and personality.
