Avoncroft Museum Stars in New Christmas Blockbuster AVONCROFT MUSEUM STARS IN NEW CHRISTMAS BLOCKBUSTER Bromsgrove’s Avoncroft Museum is playing a starring role in the latest British comedy to hit the silver screen – Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger! The museum’s wagon shed, which dates back to the early 18th Century, was transformed into a stable so that it could be used as a backdrop for key scenes in the family-friendly festive film which opened in cinemas on November 23. Starring well-known actors David Tennant, Joanna Page, Jessica Hynes, Marc Wootton and Pam Ferris, Nativity 2 is the sequel to Nativity!, which was a massive hit in 2009. The high-energy Christmas caper sees the pupils from St. Bernadette’s heading to Wales to compete in the national choir contest; ‘A song for Christmas’ and as you’d expect, there’s lots of fun and hilarity along the way. Cast and crew spent a full day filming at Avoncroft and according to the museum’s director, Simon Carter, a great time was had by all, including stunt donkey Archie. He said: “We really enjoyed having the Nativity 2 team on site and it was exciting to welcome such famous actors to the museum. “Both David Tennant and Marc Wootton visited our Edwardian tea room and feedback from the crew was overwhelmingly positive.” Avoncroft Museum is fast becoming a location of choice for TV and film crews looking for period settings or unusual venues. As well as being used in Nativity 2, in the last 12 months it will feature on Come Dine With Me and Antiques Road Trip in the New Year. It has also been used as the set for a new period BBC drama, which is due to air in 2013, and a documentary on the Turin Shroud. Mr Carter added: “Avoncroft is a unique venue. The style and range of buildings we have on site enables us to cater for lots of different filming requirements and because we’re an open air site, there’s plenty of room for all the equipment that accompanies actors and their entourages.” For more information on Avoncroft Museum please call 01527 831363 or visit the website: www.avoncroft.org.uk ENDS (Words – 346) Caption – Nativity 2 stars Marc Wootton and David Tennant in a scene filmed at Avoncroft Museum’s wagon shed. What could possibly go wrong? MAN UP is an honest, heart-warming romantic comedy about taking chances and rolling with the consequences. One night, two people, on a first date like no other... SHORT SYNOPSIS Meet Nancy (Lake Bell): 34, single, hung-over, and exhausted by her well meaning but clueless friends’ continual matchmaking. 10 times bitten, 100 times shy, after an especially disastrous set-up at her friends’ engagement party, Nancy is basically done with dating. She’s reached the end of her rope, and is more than happy to hole up, seal up, and resign herself to a life alone. That is until Jack (Simon Pegg) mistakes Nancy for his blind date under the clock at Waterloo Station, and she does the unthinkable and just… goes with it. Because what if pretending to be someone else finally makes her man up, and become her painfully honest, awesomely unconventional, and slightly unstable true self? Best just to let the evening unfold, roll with the consequences, and see if one unpredictable, complicated, rather unique night can bring these two messy souls together.
