The Science Fiction Magazines
THE SCIENCE FICTION MAGAZINES A Bibliographical Checklist Of Titles and Issues 1 THE SCIENCE FICTION MAGAZINES A Bibliographical Checklist Of Titles and Issues Compiled by Hal W. Hall Head, Special Formats Division Texas A&M University Library with the assistance of Kenneth R. Johnson And George Michaels Bryan TX SFBRI 1983 2 THE SCIENCE FICTION MAGAZINES A Bibliographical Checklist Of Titles and Issues Copyright 1983 By H. W. Hall All Rights Reserved ISBN 0-935064-10-9 This electronic version of The Science Fiction Magazine Checklist is a slightly reformatted version of the original 1983 edition. The bibliographic content is the same as the original edition. SFBRI 3608 Meadow Oaks Lane Bryan TX 77802 3 CONTENTS Introduction Checklist Editor Index Indexes to the Magazines Appendix: Non-English Language Science Fiction and Fantasy Magazines, Preliminary Listing 4 INTRODUCTION The compilation of a checklist of the science fiction, fantasy and related magazines is a challenging project. Such a checklist may serve many purposes, from a guide to the magazine collector to a bibliographic resource for the scholar. The checklist may be narrowly defined to include only the "science fiction" magazines (providing, of course, one can successfully define that phrase), or more broadly defined to include science fiction, fantasy, and other related titles. This checklist takes the broader perspective, including a variety of magazines, all of which are in some way related to science fiction and fantasy. Philosophically, the checklist operates from the position that systematic bibliography must start from quantitative checklists and bibliographies which establish the full range of the subject, and proceed to descriptive bibliographies, content studies, historical analyses, and other studies. -
