A Message from the AGC PAC Co-Chairs

GC PAC is a nonpartisan political action committee (PAC) Asponsored by AGC of America. It is registered with the U.S. Federal Election Commission and allows eligible employees of AGC member companies to pool personal, voluntary financial contributions. The contributions are used to support candidates running for elective office who, regardless of party affiliation, understand the construction industry and the specific needs, interests and concerns of AGC member companies and their employees. Ted Aadland During the 2011-2012 election cycle, AGC PAC raised just shy of AGC PAC Co-Chair $1 million from 1,242 individuals and contributed more than $1 million to 241 federal candidates and committees. Of the 220 AGC-backed candidates running on Election Day, 188 (85 percent) of them were successfully elected to the 113th Congress. AGC PAC’s ongoing tenacity and resolve in the political arena have made it one of the most recognized and well-respected PACs on Capitol Hill, ranking among the top 100 trade association PACs in the nation — earning it the status of “Heavy Hitter” status from the Center for Responsive Politics. Criteria for AGC PAC Disbursements hroughout an election cycle, AGC PAC receives hundreds of Trequests to fund campaigns, other PACs and party committees. With limited resources, AGC PAC must prioritize its disbursements to those entities most supportive of AGC’s legislative priorities. The AGC PAC Contributions Subcommittee, a group of 77 individuals from AGC member companies, reviews such requests and approves the contributions for disbursement. Subcommittee members use the following evaluation criteria: • Local chapter and member input • AGC current and lifetime congressional voting record • Candidate questionnaire and interview (if a first-time candidate) • Legislative strategy • Variable election factors such as demographic profile of the district, fundraising ability, polling data and previous election results • Chapter and member support for AGC PAC AGC PAC may contribute up to $5,000 per election (primary, general or run-off) to a federal candidate’s campaign. It may also contribute up to $5,000 per year to a federal PAC or up to $15,000 to a national party committee. Contribution amounts vary depending upon the aforementioned criteria.
