Taigh Na Carr Brochure Taigh na Carr Letterfearn Sleeps up to 4 persons Available from £1200 per week By the sea Luxury Accommodation Pet-Free Has a real fireplace WiFi available Details Taigh na Carr nestles at the bottom of a hill on the south shore of Loch Duich in the North West Highlands, one of the most dramatic and stunningly beautiful mountainous areas of Scotland. The startling beauty of the area is reflected and matched in the creation of this architecturally fascinating house. Hugely spacious, light and airy, built mainly with glass, wood and local stone, the house offers fantastic views across the loch, with the Five Sisters of Kintail mountains just beyond - tempting you to explore. During your stay you may be lucky enough to spot the resident Letterfearn otters or porpoises from the bay just across the lane. Golden and White Tailed sea eagles soar overhead and deer graze the hillside behind. However, you may very well be enthralled by the visitors to the deck - a badger and a pine marten. Turn out the lights after dusk and leave out a small plate of chopped apples and a mixture of nuts/honey or peanut butter, keep a low profile inside and you may very well find yourself up close and personal to either of these beautiful creatures! We hope the images speak for themselves, but Taigh na Carr is a truly breathtaking house and location. For hill walkers, runners, kayakers, wild swimmers it couldn't be better. Mountains can be accessed almost from the house, the loch is immediately below the house and the quiet single track road along the lochside is a joggers dream. Return to the house and immediately inside you have the huge double shower room or alternatively luxuriate in the large oval bath in the king en suite room. This is an eco house in many aspects but in particular the heating arrangement. An air source heat pump powers the underfloor heating but the clever arrangement of a solar heated stairwell and sliding internal windows circulates the warm air from below up to the upper floor. Solar gain glass and substantial air sealed doors ensure comfort year round. Eco cleaning products are used throughout the house. Clean lines and eco living characterise Taigh na Carr. The top-lit dining/kitchen areas sit below a mezzanine floor which accommodates 2 spacious en suite bedrooms, one king size bedroom and one superking/twin bedroom. The ground floor is large and glassed on 3 sides allowing maximum light throughout the day and year and offers views to the iconic Eilean Donan Castle in the distance. This is a truly special house in a truly special location, which, if you do not already know, is second to none for Highland magnificence. It is the Highland Council’s responsibility to consider whether the policies and proposals within the West Highland & Islands Local Plan are likely to have any significant effect on Special Protection Areas (including proposed SPAs), Special Areas of Conservation (including proposed SACs) and Ramsar sites, having regard to the qualifying interests and conservation objectives of those sites. Where a likely significant effect has been identified, appropriate assessment has been undertaken in order to try to ascertain whether the policies and proposals will adversely affect the integrity of the sites protected by the EU Directive and Scottish Government Policy (“the sites”). Mitigation measures have been provided where necessary in order to avoid adversely affecting the integrity of the sites. This has involved making changes to the Plan where necessary. The Council now believes that the Plan’s policies and proposals will not adversely affect the integrity of the sites. We have successfully concluded with certainty that that is the case. The Precambrian Glenelg Inlier, within the Scottish Caledonides preserves a record of Grenvillian, Knoydartian and Caledonian orogenesis. Based on new mapping and re-interpretation of previous mapping, we present a structural model for the evolution of the Glenelg Inlier. The inlier can be divided into Western Glenelg gneiss comprising orthogneiss with no record of Grenville-age metamorphism, and Eastern Glenelg gneiss with ortho- and para-gneiss, affected by Grenvillian eclogite-facies metamorphism. The basement gneisses and their original cover of psammitic, Neoproterozoic Morar Group (Moine) rocks were deformed by three generations of major ductile folds (F1-F3). In medium-strain areas F2 and F3 folds are broadly coaxial and both face to the west; in higher strain areas F2 and F3 folds are oblique to each other. By restoring post-F1 folds and late faults, the Glenelg gneiss inliers are seen to form the core of a major recumbent SSE-facing F1 isoclinal fold nappe – the Proto-Moine Nappe.

Following Board approval of the draft landfills, whisky and metals sector plans, we launched them at a meeting for all SEPA managers in Perth on the 26th of March. We chose this internal event as we wanted to put a strong emphasis on supporting our own staff to understand the first three plans. We also sent the draft plans to key stakeholders and publicised them on our website and through social media. Many staff have contributed to the development of the first three plans and the next three plans (aquaculture, oil & gas decommissioning and waste tyres) and are now working on implementation plans for when we finalise them. This level of active staff involvement is very promising given the centrality of sector plans to One Planet Prosperity.
