HOLOCAUST DENIAL IS a FORM of HATE SPEECH Raphael Cohen
HOLOCAUST DENIAL IS A FORM OF HATE SPEECH ∗∗∗ Raphael Cohen-Almagor Introduction Recently Facebook confirmed that it has disabled a group called ‘I Hate Muslims in Oz.’ Barry Schnitt explained: “We disabled the ‘I Hate Muslims in Oz’ group… because it contained an explicit statement of hate. Where Holocaust-denial groups have done this and been reported, we’ve taken the same action”.1 Facebook distinguishes between ‘explicit statement of hate’ and Holocaust denial. Its directors believe that Holocaust denial is not hateful per se and does not therefore contravene the company’s terms of service. The terms of service say: “You will not post content that is hateful, threatening, pornographic, or that contains nudity or graphic or gratuitous violence”. 2 Schnitt said: “We’re always discussing and evaluating our policies on reported content, but have no plans to change this policy at this time. In addition to discussing it internally, we continue to engage with third-party experts on the issue”.3 In this short piece I wish to take issue with the assertion that Holocaust denial is not hateful per se . My aim is to show that it is, and therefore that Facebook should reconsider its position. All Internet providers and web- hosting companies whose terms of service disallow hateful messages on their servers should not host or provide forums for such hate-mongering. This is of urgent need as Holocaust denial is prevalent in Europe, the United States (USA) and across the Arab and Muslim parts of the world. Iran’s regime, under the disputed leadership of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has made questioning the Holocaust one of the centerpieces of its radical ∗ Educator, researcher and human rights activist. -
Gun Industry Trade Association Resorts to Deceit After Cbs News 60 Minutes Documents Danger of Fifty Caliber Anti-Armor Rifles
GUN INDUSTRY TRADE ASSOCIATION RESORTS TO DECEIT AFTER CBS NEWS 60 MINUTES DOCUMENTS DANGER OF FIFTY CALIBER ANTI-ARMOR RIFLES National Shooting Sports Foundation Seeks to Fend Off Oversight Of Ideal Terror Tool By Lying About Federal Records of Firearms Sales Stung by a CBS News 60 Minutes documentary that reported the looming danger of terrorist use of powerful 50 caliber anti-armor sniper rifles that are freely sold to civilians, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), a gun industry trade association, has posted an egregiously dishonest misrepresentation regarding the lack of federal records kept on the sale of such firearms. The 60 Minutes report on January 9, 2005, accurately reported that no one in the federal government—much less the federal anti-terrorism establishment—knows who has these powerful long range anti-materiel sniping rifles.1 The 50 caliber anti- armor rifle can blast through armor, set bulk fuel stores on fire, breach chemical storage tanks, shoot down helicopters in flight, and destroy fully-loaded jet airliners on the ground—all from more than a mile away. The NSSF, desperate to fend off a growing state-led grassroots movement to regulate these weapons of war in the wake of indifference by the Bush administration and inaction by the majority leadership of the U.S. Congress, has taken out of context four words spoken by Violence Policy Center (VPC) Senior Policy Analyst Tom Diaz, and attempted by innuendo, half-truth, and outright lie to twist them into a “boldly false assertion.” This desperate smear withers under close examination. In the passage NSSF seeks to distort, 60 Minutes first correctly notes that the VPC’s objective, as articulated by Diaz, is to bring the anti-armor rifles under the existing federal National Firearms Act, under which similar weapons of war—such as machine guns, rockets, and grenades—are individually registered and all transfers recorded by the federal government. -

SCHOOL-RELATED ACTS OF VIOLENCE BY THOSE ON OR WITHDRAWING FROM PSYCHIATRIC DRUGS Between 1988 and Jan. 2013, there have been at least 31 school-related acts of violence committed by those taking or withdrawing from psychiatric drugs resulting in 162 wounded and 72 killed. (In other school shootings, information about their drug use was never made public— neither confirming or refuting if they were under the influence of prescribed drugs). 1. St. Louis, Missouri - January 15, 2013: 34-year-old Sean Johnson walked onto the Stevens Institute of Business & Arts campus and shot the school's financial aid director once in the chest, then shot himself in the torso. Johnson had been taking prescribed drugs for an undisclosed mental illness. 1 2. Snohomish County, Washington – October 24, 2011: A 15-year-old girl went to Snohomish High School where police alleged that she stabbed a girl as many as 25 times just before the start of school, and then stabbed another girl who tried to help her injured friend. Prior to the attack the girl had been taking “medication” and seeing a psychiatrist. Court documents said the girl was being treated for depression. 2 3. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina - September 21, 2011: 14-year-old Christian Helms had two pipe bombs in his backpack, when he shot and wounded Socastee High School’s “resource” (police) officer. However the officer was able to stop the student before he could do anything further. Helms had been taking drugs for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and depression. 3 4. Planoise, France - December 13, 2010: A 17-year-old youth held twenty pre-school children and their teacher hostage for hours at Charles Fourier preschool. -

Patterns of Global Terrorism 1999
U.S. Department of State, April 2000 Introduction The US Government continues its commitment to use all tools necessary—including international diplomacy, law enforcement, intelligence collection and sharing, and military force—to counter current terrorist threats and hold terrorists accountable for past actions. Terrorists seek refuge in “swamps” where government control is weak or governments are sympathetic. We seek to drain these swamps. Through international and domestic legislation and strengthened law enforcement, the United States seeks to limit the room in which terrorists can move, plan, raise funds, and operate. Our goal is to eliminate terrorist safehavens, dry up their sources of revenue, break up their cells, disrupt their movements, and criminalize their behavior. We work closely with other countries to increase international political will to limit all aspects of terrorists’ efforts. US counterterrorist policies are tailored to combat what we believe to be the shifting trends in terrorism. One trend is the shift from well-organized, localized groups supported by state sponsors to loosely organized, international networks of terrorists. Such a network supported the failed attempt to smuggle explosives material and detonating devices into Seattle in December. With the decrease of state funding, these loosely networked individuals and groups have turned increasingly to other sources of funding, including private sponsorship, narcotrafficking, crime, and illegal trade. This shift parallels a change from primarily politically motivated terrorism to terrorism that is more religiously or ideologically motivated. Another trend is the shift eastward of the locus of terrorism from the Middle East to South Asia, specifically Afghanistan. As most Middle Eastern governments have strengthened their counterterrorist response, terrorists and their organizations have sought safehaven in areas where they can operate with impunity. -
Dossier on Glenn Greenwald
THE GLENN GREENWALD / MATT HALE LOVE AFFAIR GLENN GREENWALD’S LAW LICENSE WAS SUSPENDED FOR RECEIVING CODED MESSAGES FROM PRISON FROM HIS CLIENT AND PARAMOUR NAZI MATT HALE WHICH GLENN PASSED ON TO MEMBERS OF HALE’S CREW OF MISCREANTS UNTIL HE WAS QUESTIONED BY THE FBI JEWISH DEFENSE ORGANIZATION DOSSIER ON GLENN GREENWALD The writer who broke the NSA SNOWDEN PRISM story, Glenn Greenwald, is a traitor to the United States. Additionally, evidence suggests he was sexually attracted to the Nazi Matt Hale, which makes him one perverted Jew. His involvement with Hale went well beyond the normal attorney / client relationship. Glenn became an honorary member of Hale’s Church of the Creator and one of his crew. He represented the Church in every legal matter for five years for free, flying to Peoria to hook up with his client. He did illegal undercover work for Hale. Why risk imprisonment and loss of your law license if you do not believe in Nazi doctrine? The answer is Greenwald was in a relationship with Hale. We know Glenda is gay but what about Hale? For one thing Hale could never consummate a heterosexual relationship. Hale was married to a 16 year old for three months. Her name, according to the Nazis, was THE GLENN GREENWALD / MATT HALE LOVE AFFAIR ―Terra Heron.‖ Then he married Peggy Anderson in 1997 but he was divorced shortly thereafter. Hale was never attracted to women and was unable to perform in bed. He moved back in with his father. He spent 30 years with his father Russell Hale who croaked in 2012. -
Examining the Magazine Industry Standard
POINT OF VIEW: EXAMINING THE MAGAZINE INDUSTRY STANDARD A Thesis presented to the Faculty of the Graduate School at the University of Missouri In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Master of Arts by CRISTINA DAGLAS John Fennell, Thesis Supervisor MAY 2009 © Copyright by Cristina Daglas 2009 All Rights Reserved The undersigned, appointed by the dean of the Graduate School, have examined the thesis entitled POINT OF VIEW : EXAMINING THE MAGAZINE INDUSTRY STANDARD presented by Cristina Daglas, a candidate for the degree of master of arts, and hereby certify that, in their opinion, it is worthy of acceptance. Professor John Fennell Professor Jennifer Rowe Professor Amanda Hinnant Professor Maureen Stanton ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS I am immensely grateful to my thesis chair, John Fennell, who believed in both the necessity for and the feasibility of this research. When many doubted the ability to interview prominent magazine professionals, John provided support and guidance while always keeping setbacks and successes in perspective. John has been a mentor from first semester of graduate school when I enrolled in his writing course, and I am so pleased that I could pursue a topic I am incredibly passionate about with his guidance. However, this research would naturally not be what it is without the rest of my fabulous committee. Jennifer Rowe, my other mentor, adviser and friend, was an invaluable resource, as she provided big-picture edits, line edits and, most importantly, support. Amanda Hinnant provided advice in the earliest days of thesis conception as well as the scholarly perspective necessary in any academic work. Maureen Stanton was also a wonderful resource, imparting an outside, nonfiction mindset that added another dimension to this journalistic thesis. -

Comment When Does Parental Liability End?: Holding Parents Liable for the Acts of Their Adult Children I. INTRODUCTION On May 20, 1988, Laurie Wasserman Dann entered a Winnetka, Illinois school and opened fire on a second grade classroom. She killed one child, Nicky Corwin, and injured five others. Laurie Dann left many questions unanswered when she killed herself later that day. One unanswered question, which was before the court in the case of Corwin v. Wasserman,' is whether parents can be held liable for the acts of their adult child. The Corwins contended that the Wassermans knew of their daughter's dangerous propensities. Specifically, it was alleged that the Wassermans knew that their daughter had made death threats, set fires, and was reported to have stabbed her ex-husband.2 The Corwins also asserted that the Wassermans controlled every aspect of Laurie Dann's life.
