Artistic biography

MARIOLA PŁAZAK-ŚCIBICH, operatic singer (the lyrical - ), graduated from Music Academy in Katowice, where she studied with Anna Koscielniak - pupil of Ada Sari. She took part in various vocal workshops, working, among others with Victoria de Los Angeles. Mariola debuted with Silesian Opera in Bytom, , singing Arsena in „The Gipsy Baron” by J.Strauss. Her first big role was Gilda in „” by G. Verdi. She participated in the opera performances and concertos in Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Denmark and Holland. She took part in the two months tour of Italy and also in “Strauss's Concertos” in Berlin. Mariola has been known to perform with various opera companies in Poland ex. Krakow Opera, Szczecin Opera. In 1999 and 2003 she sang part of Norina from G. Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale” with the Grand Theatre in Poznan, Poland. She also was invited by polish community in Winnipeg, Canada to take part in concerts with Sokol Polish Folk Ensemble, as well as solo concertos in Winnipeg, where among other things, in 2005 she sang part of Hanna from "The Merry Widow" by F. Lehar. She became the Honorary Member of J.I. Paderewski's Polish Music Society for being an ambassador of polish culture. She performed in numerous concertos and musical festivals in Poland and other European countries, ex. "Ave Maria" Festival in Czeladz, where she sang alongside of B. Paprocki and F. Bonisolli, Festival „Viva il Canto" in Cieszyn. Her role of Gilda in “Rigoletto” sang in Gratz, Austria, brought her a great success. In the year 2004 Mariola took part in the inauguration of the Krakow Chamber Opera, singing Norina in Don Pasquale G. Donizetti. She was also involved with Narodne Divadlo in Ostrava, Czech, where she was performed the Quinn of the Night's part from by W.A. Mozart.
