21 November 2011 The Angels are back! Waiting for the Sun tour Get ready to rock this summer and relive the 70s and 80s when The Angels play one night only Saturday 21 January 2012, in Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s (QPAC’s) Concert Hall, on their Waiting for the Sun Tour. Anyone familiar with The Angels’ music and their history knows they are not only one of Australia’s greatest ever bands, but one of its longest surviving. Since releasing their now legendary debut single Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again? in May 1976, the band has gone on to enjoy an extraordinary career – through the release of a vast catalogue of recorded music and performing thousands of gigs over more than three decades. Their Waiting for the Sun tour introduces new front man Dave Gleeson of the Screaming Jets, alongside original members, John and Rick Brewster and Chris Bailey, playing the songs we all know such as We gotta get out of this place and as well as their new single Waiting for the Sun. Mid 2011 saw Rick Brewster’s Angels fronted by Dave Gleeson perform two sell out shows in Sydney and Adelaide. Following that wave of enthusiasm, what had started out as a bit of fun between Gleeson and the Brewster, has created a new chapter for The Angels. The Waiting for the Sun single has already been played nationally on Triple M, giving fans a taste of what to expect on the upcoming EP. The concert showcases new tracks as well as all the band’s classics, leaving fans screaming for more and excited at the prospect of a new revitalized Angels. The end of 2011 and into early 2012 will see The Angels embark on the Waiting For The Sun tour, which will be their first of many with Dave Gleeson up front. If the shows at The Annandale and Norwood were any indication, fans new and old are set for an Angels’ experience reminiscent of gigs in the early years at The Playroom and Bombay Rock on the Gold Coast. Don’t miss The Angels as they rock QPAC’s Concert Hall for one night only on Saturday 21 January. Paul Christie – Party Boys The crowd was awesome; the Annandale Hotel was packed front to back. I loved every minute of it. Dave Gleeson We had one rehearsal the day before and it felt like we'd been playing together for years. The audience was as pumped as we were and it just got better and better the more they gave it back to us. We just finished the EP and there’s an album with this band. Can’t wait to play more shows!
