Coquitlam, BC – Here they come … hey, hey it’s The Monkees! It’s been forty-five years since their groundbreaking show and hit singles first took television sets and record players by storm and now original Monkees members Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork are proud to announce a new tour to celebrate their 45th anniversary! Formed in 1966, The Monkees made their television debut with their eponymous series which aired on NBC for two seasons … the show was a smash success winning two Emmy Awards. And while becoming pop culture icons, the band’s musical accomplishments were just as impressive. They scored a dozen Top 40 hits – outselling both The Beatles and The Rolling Stones in 1967 – as well as Top 10 hits in more than twenty-five countries.
The Monkees’ 45th Anniversary Tour will treat audiences to a full multimedia experience celebrating nearly a half- century of the band’s legacy. Jones, Dolenz and Tork will perform all of their hits including “I’m A Believer”, “Last Train to Clarksville”, “Daydream Believer”, “Pleasant Valley Sunday”, “(I’m Not Your) Steppin’ Stone”, “Valleri” and for the first time ever on stage … songs from their classic albums and rarely heard selections from their cult classic 1968 film, Head. The tour will also mark the first live performance by the band in a full decade and are sure to draw yet another generation of fans to their one-of-a-kind mix of music and comedy! The Monkees’ tour across North America began earlier this month and will include a one-night performance at Boulevard Casino’s Red Robinson Show Theatre on September 23, 2011.
