Protein bars can be amazing on-the-go snacks. They are handy when you are traveling and don’t have access to fresh foods.
But protein bars are tricky! Some of them are loaded with sugar and funky ingredients.
Follow these easy steps to spot a good protein bar!

The basics
Calories aim for a bar that has between 200 and 300 calories. It’s the perfect balance between too much and too little.

Protein find a bar that has at least 8 grams of protein. Otherwise you won’t get enough and likely feel hungry soon after eating it.

Fiber try to aim for 3 grams or more. More fiber will keep you full for longer and will help you balance your blood sugars better.

Red flags
Sugar many protein bars are actually candy bars. Try to keep sugar under 13 grams per bar. Ingredients like maple syrup, corn syrup, rice syrup are all still added sugar. Natural doesn’t make a difference in our body.

Red flags
Saturated fat believe it or not, some bars that are high in ingredients like coconut oil can be loaded with saturated fat which in high amounts might be harmful. Make sure your protein bar has less than 3 grams of this fat.
