37 Annual NORTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA EMMY® AWARD NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED Updated April 16, 2008 th 37 Annual NORTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA EMMY® AWARD NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED th The 37 Annual Northern California Area EMMY® Award Nominations were announced Thursday, April 10th at Harry Denton’s Starlight Room in the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, San Francisco, by television personalities Fred LaCosse and Terry Lowry. Additional nomination parties were held at the Tied House, San Jose; River City Brewing Company, Sacramento; Palomino’s, Fresno; and the Peppermill Hotel in Reno. The EMMY® award is presented for outstanding achievement in television by The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. San Francisco/Northern California is one of the twenty chapters awarding regional Emmy® statuettes. Northern California is composed of television and cable stations from Visalia to the Oregon border and includes Hawaii and Reno, Nevada. Entries were aired during the 2007 calendar year. This year 819 entries were received in 65 categories. The ballots were tallied by the accounting firm of Spalding & Company of San Francisco. Congratulations to San Francisco’s KNTV NBC 11 for receiving 36 nominations. NBC 11 was followed by KPIX CBS 5 with 32 and by KTVU Channel 2 with 17. In Sacramento KUVS Univision 19 received 17 nominations followed by KCRA 3 with 12. In the Fresno market KFSN ABC 30 received eight and KFTV Univision 21, two nominations. Hawaii scored well this year with KGMB 9 getting five and KITV 4 receiving three. FSN Bay Area led the cable nominations with seven. The top individual with nine nominations was Anna Werner, Investigative Reporter, CBS 5, followed by: Mike Inouye, Traffic Anchor, NBC 11; Santiago Lucero, Reporter, KUVS 19; Laurie Schmidt, Editor, KQED 9; and Abigail Sterling, Investigative Producer, CBS 5; each received five nominations. The totals: 241 entries were nominated, 621 nomination certificates were presented to 407 individuals. The EMMY® statues will be presented at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco on Saturday, May 10th. Tickets for the event are $95, with a $10 discount to Academy members until May 1st and $105, with a $10 discount to Academy members after May 1st. The reception starts at 4 p.m. with the Emmy® 2008 show at 5 p.m. The dinner-dance party will commence next door at The Exploratorium following the show at 8 p.m. with music provided by Black Market Jazz Orchestra. The EMMY® award is presented for outstanding achievement in television by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). San Francisco/ Northern California is one of the nineteen chapters awarding regional Emmy® statuettes. Northern California is composed of media companies and individuals from Visalia to the Oregon border and includes Hawaii and Reno, Nevada. Entries aired during the 2017 calendar year. This year 784 English entries were received in 62 categories and 218 entries in the Spanish contest in 42 categories. English and Spanish language entries were judged and scored separately. A minimum of seven peer judges from other NATAS chapters scored each entry on a scale from 1 to 10 on Content, Creativity and Execution. (Craft categories were judged on Creativity and Execution only). The total score was divided by the number of judges. The mean score was sorted from highest to lowest in each category. The Chapter Awards Committee looked at blind scores (not knowing the category) and decided on the cut off number for nominations and recipients. In the English contest KNTV NBC Bay Area received 27 nominations. The Spanish contest KUVS Univision 19 received 28. Individual honors went to Luis Godínez, Assistant News Director, KDTV Univision 14, San Francisco received ten nominations. KDTV’s Joseph Perry, Photographer/Editor and KUVS Univisioin 19 Sandra Cervantes, Anchor/Reporter and Eduardo Mancera Mancera each received nine.

The EMMY® award is presented for outstanding achievement in television by The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). San Francisco/ Northern California is one of the twenty chapters awarding regional Emmy® statuettes. Northern California is composed of media companies and individuals from Visalia to the Oregon border and includes Hawaii and Reno, Nevada. Entries were aired during the 2013 calendar year. This year 659 English and 101 Spanish entries were received in 63 categories. English and Spanish language entries were judged and scored separately. A minimum of five peer judges from other NATAS chapters scored each entry on a scale from 1 to 10 on Content, Creativity and Execution. (Craft categories were judged on Creativity and Execution only). The total score is divided by the number of judges. The mean score is sorted from highest to lowest in each category. The Chapter Awards Committee looks at blind scores (not knowing the category) and decides on the cut off number for nominations and recipients. The results are tabulated by our accounting firm Spalding and Company. KNTV NBC Bay Area received the highest number of nominations with 40 followed by Comcast SportsNet with 28. KUVS Univision19 topped the Spanish contest with 30 nominations. In the individual nomination count all the leaders were from KNTV NBC Bay Area: Mark Villarrela with seven; Jeremy Carroll, Felipe Escamilla and Tony Kovaleski each had six.
