Mobile Choice Awards 2011 Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mobile Choice Consumer Awards – Top 10 Product Awards

Last night saw the 11th Annual Mobile Choice Consumer Awards take place at the swanky Northumberland venue off Central London, and for the first time in the awards’ history - over 10,000 consumers made the most of democracy and voted in droves for their favourite devices this year.

"This is the first year we've opened all the categories to reader voting and we're incredibly excited to have had such a huge consumer say in the final results,” said Natasha Stokes, Editor of Mobile Choice.

And it was obvious one really won the hearts of the nation’s consumers and the Mobile Choice team– the superb Galaxy S II swept awards across the board. It was nominated in six categories, and triumphed in five, winning Best Camera Phone, Best Video Phone, Best Android Phone, Best Media Phone and the most coveted award of the night, Phone of the Year.

Natasha added: “Samsung’s Galaxy S II did an unprecedented sweep at this year's awards, impressing our readers and expert judges alike with its high performance and powerful features.”

But it wasn’t just Samsung’s super phone that left the awards basking in glory. The BlackBerry Bold 9780 won Best Social Networking Phone thanks to its superb Messenger service. Orange’s fantastic San Francisco picked up the Best Value Phone for providing outstanding functionality at an incredibly affordable cost.

Most Innovative Device went to the LG Optimus 3D. Being the first phone that lets the user shoot and view images and video in 3D, it took a brave first step that’s paved the way for the future of 3D mobile technology.

And Apple’s iPad 2 bagged our first ever Tablet of the Year for its supremely elegant build quality and tablet-optimised App Store.

Natasha also said: “Just getting into the shortlists for each category requires a broad range of high-end features and superb usability and every device here is a great piece of tech, and quality purchase.”
