The Southeast Region invites you to the 2017 AGM in beautiful and historic Savannah, Georgia. Step back in time as you walk down moss laden oak tree lined streets. The AGM Committee has planned a memorable event for you. Our Honored Guests will be Lord Godfrey Macdonald, High Chief of and Lady Claire Macdonald, OBE.

Thursday- 24 August – Tidelands and Tour 7:45am-5:30pm Take a journey that explores the great contributions of the Scots who settled this coastal part of Georgia. A guided tour by bus to Fort Frederica, site of the Battle of Bloody Marsh and Fort King George in historic Darien, Georgia. We will visit the shrimp docks in Darien where we will hear about how this area became such a vital seafood center by a former shrimp boat Captain. Lunch is included on the tour.

Friday- 25 August- Overview of Savannah Tour 9:30am-11:00am Enjoy a private comprehensive narrated guided bus tour of 280 years of American history that is Savannah and the “Old South”.

Tour or shop on your own in the afternoon with the DOT Bus Line’s free Hop On/Hop Off service

Low Country Boil and Ghost Tour 5:30pm-10:30pm Roll up your sleeves as you enjoy the culinary tradition of a low country boil. Relax to the excellent musical entertainment of Syr Celtic Rock Band and then on to investigate “the most haunted city in the US” with a Guided Ghost Tour. (Memories of “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil”)

Saturday- 26 August-Workshops Saturday Morning Annual General Meeting Saturday Afternoon Reception, Grand Banquet & Ball 6:00pm-11:00pm Be prepared for a visit by a very famous “Ghost” from our past. Then put on your dancing shoes as we dance the night away to the music of Swingsation Big Band.

Our host hotel is The DeSoto Savannah, a Four Star Hotel in the Historic District at 15 East Liberty Street. The hotel offers discounted valet parking of $19.00 per day. There is a Public Parking Garage about three blocks away from the hotel. Make sure you use the Group Code: DCD. We are offering some fantastic items for our silent auction and “opportunity” drawings. For the gents, the Grand Prize is a handmade dirk crafted by the NCDC Mel Verheler and a matching sheath and sporran made by Past HC Al Manning. For the lassies, the Grand Prize is an Edinburgh Cape, supplied by ScotClans, in the tartan of the winner’s choosing. A ticket for these prizes is $10.00.

Other prizes of note are a Celtic drinking horn, a silver Glengarry broach, a man’s modern MacDonald -size 42, CD’s by 7Nations, Keltic Kudzu and others, a Bob Fold’s sgain dubh along with two others.

Some items will be by silent auction. The rest will be available for $1.00 per ticket.

The Saturday morning Work Shops and Seminars prove to be informative and interesting. We will have the standard seminars on Genealogy with Louise McDonald, DNA with Dr. Doug McDonald and Mark MacDonald and Heraldry with David Macdonald of Castle Camus.

The other seminars will be very entertaining as we learn about “The Scottish Ancient Soldier/Weapons” conducted by armor expert Todd Johnson. Tom McEachren, National Webmaster & GLRC, and his team will present “Reaching the Millennials” and how the website and social media will be so important to our Clan Donald membership and how it will benefit our growth in membership and membership service.

Rev. Gary MacDonald, recipient of the Clan Donald Academic Scholarship will present a seminar on his doctoral research in .
