Version 6.0 Fixed Licence Installation Instructions with manual installation of TeXLive 2018 for Scientific Word / Scientific WorkPlace v6.0.28 and higher

1. As normal (see our standard v6.0 Installation Instructions) 2. As normal 3. Download the program file here. A. If you are simply wanting to upgrade a Scientific Word/WorkPlace system from, for example, v6.0.26 or v6.0.27 to v6.0.28 or higher, the easiest option is to follow the standard v6.0 Installation Instructions, except that at Step 4 you should uncheck the TeX Live Network Install module after accepting the licence agreement (where and Inkscape are probably also unchecked). This will let you run Scientific Word/WorkPlace v6.0.28 (or higher) with your existing TeXLive 2017. B. To perform a fresh installation including TeXLive 2018:

• Windows: First install TeXLive manually: 1. Go to http://tug.org/texlive/acquire-netinstall.html and download install-tl- windows.exe (15Mb)

2. Right-click install-tl-windows.exe and Run as Administrator – Run

3. Unpack only – Next. We recommend unpacking to C:\texlive\unpack – Next

4. After the unpacking, close the dialog 5. Go to C:\texlive\unpack\install-tl-2018[MMDD], find install-tl- advanced.bat and right-click – Run as Administrator

6. At the blue TeXLive 2018 panel, click Install TeXLive (at the bottom) 7. Wait/watch while over 3600 files are installed (up to 2 hours). If the installation fails to install all 3629 files, go back to Step 5 above (right-click install-tl-advanced.bat)

After you have installed TeXLive manually, browse to the directory containing the Scientific Word/WorkPlace download file sw[p]-6.0.28-windows-installer.exe (or higher): right- click the file and select Run as Administrator to begin the installation

• Mac: First install TeXLive manually: 1. Go to http://tug.org/mactex/mactex-download.html and download MacTeX.pkg (3.2Gb). This will take about an hour 2. Click to open MacTeX.pkg and click the Continue/Next/Agree/Install options as appropriate. The installation takes about 10 minutes 3. If the installer hangs at Verifying, reboot the Mac and go back to Step 2 above (click to open MacTeX.pkg)

After you have installed TeXLive manually, browse to the folder containing the Scientific Word/WorkPlace download file sw[p]-6.0.28-osx-installer.dmg (or higher): click to open the .dmg file, and Ctrl+Click to open the installer which starts with sw/swp (as appropriate). Enter your Mac password if requested

4. Continue from Step 4 of our standard v6.0 installation instructions except that you should uncheck the TeX Live Network Install module after accepting the licence agreement (where Ghostscript and Inkscape are probably also unchecked) 5. As normal 6. Etc.

Note that the file C:\texlive\tlyear on Windows (you can open it with NotePad) or the file ~/./tlyear on a Mac (you can open it with TextEdit) will tell you which version of TeXLive Scientific Word/WorkPlace is using.
