THE LAKE PLAN MALCOLM AND ARDOCH LAKES BACKGROUND DOCUMENT i DISCLAIMER The information contained in this document is for information purposes only. It has been collected from sources we believe to be reliable, but completeness and accuracy cannot be guaranteed. The Malcolm Ardoch Lake Landowners’ Association (MALLA) and its members are not liable for any errors or omissions in the data and for any loss or damage suffered based upon the contents herein. Maps are provided only for general indications of position and are not designed for navigational purposes. Boaters and snowmobilers/all-terrain vehicles must take due care at all times on the lakes; users of the lakes are responsible for their own safety and well-being by making themselves aware of any hazards that may exist at any given time. BACKGROUND Preliminary work for the Lake Plan began in 2012 when the Malcolm Ardoch Lakes Association executive were asked for information related to the water quality of the two lakes. Some information was available through the Ministry of the Environment Lakes Partner Program due to the efforts of Ron Higgins for Malcolm and Ruth Cooper for Ardoch Lake who conducted water sampling to provide Secchi data. A second source was the five-year sampling rotation conducted by Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority. The implications of water quality and water levels initiated discussions about the need for consistent monitoring on the lakes. A Committee was formed under the leadership of Ron Higgins and topics beyond water quality were identified. A land development proposal for Ardoch Lake became an urgent matter and the Lake Plan was delayed. -

Contemporary newspapers were scanned to obtain a chronicle of the signi• ficant sporting developments and events during the period between the first Fraser River gold rush of 18 58 and the completion of the transcontinental Canadian Pacific Railway in 188 5. During this period, it is apparent that certain sports facilitated a rapid expansion of activities when the railway brought thousands of new settlers to the province in the closing years of the century. -
Girl Scout Ceremonies Flag Ceremonies
Girl Scout Ceremonies These are ideas created and shared online and in other ways by other leaders. I have tweaked some to reflect changes in the Girl Scout Program, others will reflect more of the “old ways” and older language. Don’t feel like you need to use these verbatim. Take what works, and then modify it as you need to. Use these as ideas to create your own ceremonies. Think outside the box when it comes to supplies for your ceremonies. You don’t have to spend a bunch of money or have elaborate themes or props to give your girls and their families a meaningful experience. Also, don’t feel like you are tied to the category that someone placed these ceremonies into – just because a ceremony says it’s a “Bridging for Daisies to Brownies” doesn’t mean that’s the only way you can use the ideas. Make it work for you and your troop! Flag Ceremonies These are the basic Flag Ceremony commands. There are many versions & other commands that can be added. Do what you feel works for your group. These are just suggestions. We always have a caller & an even number of girls for the color guard. When raising the flag up a "real" pole (one with a rope & pulley system) it usually takes two girls to do the actual raising. PSALMS FOR MOTHER EMANUEL ELEGY FROM PITTSBURGH TO CHARLESTON the pittsburgh foundation | 2016 FOREWORD All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. — ROMANS 8:28 It requires a lot of faith to practice Romans 8:28. On June 17, 2015, a gunman walked into Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church and opened fire on women, men and children concluding a Bible Study while their eyes were closed, “watching God.” The nine people killed were armed with Bibles and the Holy Spirit. My childhood friend and ministerial colleague, Rev. Clementa Pinckney, was killed. Our text message stream is still in my cellphone; I will not erase it. Waltrinia Middleton, a college friend, and her aunt, Rev. DePayne Middleton-Doctor, were killed. These personal relationships made the tragedy sink in even more. On July 10, 2015, the Confederate flag was removed from the South Carolina State House. Many in my state and across the nation began having more serious conversations about race. I tremble thinking what it cost us to get there. Emanuel A.M.E. Church is one of the most historic African- American churches in the nation. And Charleston is dubbed the “Holy City” for the plethora of churches that make up its landscape. Every corner of Charleston reminds us of past prejudices, recent hates and an optimistic future. There is a beauty in the city that is majestic. The nation saw it in the outpouring of love after June 17. The Book of Psalms was the hymnbook of ancient Israel. -

There is a need to know the options available and how to exploit them, the need to harness some of these sources efficiently and effectively and above all the environmental concerns these energy sources give rise to. The material presented in the form of an e book is mainly meant for higher secondary school students as the audience and for others this may be elementary unless otherwise one wishes to get some basis on this topic. Each of the chapters has been prepared by the individual members of the National Centre for Catalysis Research keeping various factors in mind like the audience to whom the subject matter is addressed to and the level of knowledge required to follow the contents of the material. We do hope that this attempt has fulfilled all these expectations. However, it should be remembered that there can be serious shortcomings in the compilation. We do hope that the book in spite of these limitations may be useful to some extent. The material contained in this e book was the subject matter of a summer term course delivered by the members of the National Centre for Catalysis Research to the participants of the Chemistry programme organized by Childrens’ Club of Madras. This is one of our first attempts to bring out an e book and this effort will be improved in the subsequent attempts only when appropriate feed back is given to us on various aspects of this endeavour. -

Making Dioramas The Tawhiti Museum uses many models in its displays – from ‘life-size’ fi gures, the size of real people – right down to tiny fi gures about 20mm tall - with several other sizes in between these two. Why are different sizes used? To answer this, look at the Turuturu Mokai Pa model. The fi gures and buildings are very small. If we had used life-size fi gures and buildings the model would be enormous, bigger than the museum in fact –covering several hectares! So to make a model that can easily fi t into a room of the museum we choose a scale that we can reduce the actual size by and build the model to that scale – in the case of the Turuturu Mokai Pa model the scale is 1 to 90 (written as 1:90) – that means the model is one ninetieth of real size – or to put it another way, if you multiply anything on the model by 90, you will know how big the original is. A human fi gure on the model is 20mm – if you multiply that by 90 you get 1800mm - the height of a full size person. So as the modeler builds the model, by measuring anything from life (or otherwise knowing its size) and dividing by 90 he knows how big to model that item – this means the model is an accurate scale model of the original – there is no ‘guess work’. How do we choose which scale to make a model? There are three main considerations: 1) How much room do we have available for the display? Clearly the fi nished model needs to fi t into the available space in the museum, so by selecting an appropriate scale we can determine the actual size of the model. -
