Registered Charity : 505773 The County Success Story 2019 ü According to the 2019 Census, for the second successive year, we had over 3,000 members both young people and adult volunteers, and… ü …the number of Beavers and Cubs receiving the Top Award increased. ü 14 Groups were awarded Growth certificates at the 2019 AGM. ü The County Commissioner set up a new County Leadership Team of key volunteers. ü We also have a full complement of District Chairs. ü A new County Training Manager, Andy Woolf, has been appointed. ü Our first Section Essentials Weekend took place in November with 27 Leaders attending training for Modules 5-19 excluding 10 (Previously it’s taken three days). ü First Response training, now under the leadership of Phill Hobson, is now taking place each month. ü Executive training continues across the County at District and Group level. ü Two trainers attended the Risk Management Course in in November. ü Three trainers attended the revised Safeguarding training in Newcastle earlier this year. ü 2 new District Commissioners have been appointed this year in North and so we now have a full complement of 5. ü The second Damboree (for the Beavers and Cubs) and the second ScreamFest (for the Scouts and Explorers) were held at the county Camp Site, both with increased numbers. ü Our first County Camp since 2011, for all sections, was held at Hesley Wood in atrocious weather conditions in July. ü Unit 29 including 27 Explorers and 3 Leaders went to the World Scout Jamboree in July. ü 18 Explorers and 2 Leaders have signed up for the European Jamboree in Gdansk, Poland in August 2020. ü Planning is well in hand for an expedition of Explorers and Leaders to go to Zambia in the summer of 2021. ü Facilities continued to be improved at our County Camp Site, Raven Gill. ü A new Chief Warden, Bob Hodgson, was appointed for Raven Gill to succeed Doug Corbin. National Awards Chief Scout’s Commendation for Meritorious Conduct DAVID CLARK Unfortunately due to ill-health, David Clark stepped down as County Commissioner at the end of November. The County would like to place on record it’s thanks for David’s leadership during two periods in the role. The first person to hold the position twice. We wish David all the best and good health in the future.

Commissioner Commendations KATHRYN ROSE, PAUL ELLIOTT, PHILLIP ROSE and LAUREN BURNETT were the Unit Leaders for the World Scout Jamboree. They were all awarded with their Commissioner Commendation Award to thank them for their exceptional organisation and leadership.

Raven Gill is situated in the North village of Commondale. It consists of several camping sites of different sizes with running water on all sites and ample toilet facilities.

Also on the site are two accommodation blocks capable of sleeping 32 and 42.
