A COLLECTION OF THALASSINIDEA LATREILLE, 1831 (, PLEOCYEMATA) FROM THE SENCKENBERG FORSCHUNGSINSTITUT AND NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM, FRANKFURT AM MAIN

ABSTRACT

Unidentified Thalassinidea deposited in the Senckenberg Museum were examined. The collection here presented contains 25 , including two new genera and five new species, i.e., Axiidae: Anomalaxius floridanus gen. nov., sp. nov.; Meticonaxiidae: Meteoraxius meteor gen. nov., sp. nov.; Callianassidae: Trypaea vilavelebita sp. nov., Callichirus santarosaensis sp. nov.; and : hertwecki sp. nov. The form Calastacus laevis De Saint Laurent, 1972 is recorded only for the second time and is fully described and illustrated from a complete specimen. New distribution data are available herein for all species treated.

ZUSAMMENFASSUNG

Bisher noch unbestimmte Thalassinidea aus der Sammlung des Senckenberg Forschungsintitutes wurden untersucht. Die hier vorgestellte Sammlung umfasst 25 Arten, darunter zwei neue Gattungen und fünf neue Arten, nämlich Axiidae: Anomalaxius floridanus gen. nov., sp. nov.; Meticonaxiidae: Meteoraxius meteor gen. nov., sp. nov.; Callianassidae: Trypaea vilavelebita sp. nov., Callichirus santarosaensis sp. nov.; und Upogebiidae: Upogebia hertwecki sp.nov.VonCalastacus laevis De Saint Laurent, 1972 wird aufgrund des einzigen Zweitfundes eine komplette Beschreibung und Abbildung gegeben. Für alle behandelten Arten liegen nun neue Verbreitungsdaten vor.

The collection included material from the Atlantic Ocean, the , and the Indo-Pacific, and comprised specimens from the two Thalassinidea sec- tions, Callianassida and Thalassinida; three superfamilies, Axioidea, Callianas- soidea, and Thalassinoidea; 8 families, 15 genera including two new genera, and 25 species, including 5 new species as listed below.
