From the Desk of Ann Crowley What makes St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic School the outstanding educational community that it is? It is the educators and staff who bring forth their best with the young people they feel honored to be with each day. It is my privilege to be part of this learning community. I am in awe of what the teachers have stepped up to imple- ment this school year. Not only did they learn all new types of programs to provide best practices technologically, they also kept the traditions of St. Clare that make the school special on their own time. The teachers and all those who are part of the staff at St. Clare of Montefalco are responsible for bringing or sponsoring young people in activities like Blessing of the Pets, Summer Reading Contest, National Junior Honor Society, Forensics, Student Council, Big Buddies, AR Challenge, Sixth Grade Camp, Eight Grade Activities, Choir, Band, STEM International Team Teaching, Spelling Bees, Robotics and much more. The teachers and staff give up their lunches and stay after school to make sure these activities and clubs remain available to the young people. Teachers collaborate creating schedules to meet all the curriculum needs and still commit extra time to ensure the uniqueness of the school remains intact. That uniqueness is the embracing of all families with love and spirituality by the staff. That love and spirituality permeate the hallways, the classrooms, the black top, the parking lot, the church, well, every- where by everyone. St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic School is a beacon in the community and much of that light comes from the dedicated adults with strong hearts who give the children their all every day. Once again, I am honored to say I am a member of the St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic School learning community.

Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan will hold a special collection on November 23-24. Compelled by the love and teachings of Jesus Christ, Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan (CCSEM) helps children, teens, adults and families who find themselves in a variety of challenging circumstances. CCSEM provides works of mercy in all six counties of the Archdiocese of Detroit. These programs help thousands in our area to overcome life challenges through several programs: Adoption and Foster Care; All Saints Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry; Behavioral Health; Christian Service and Health Care Ministries; Family Support Services; Hispanic Outreach; Immigration and Refugee Services and Senior Services.

Please consider making a donation to support these services on November 23-24. An envelope is included in your bi-monthly packet. Extra envelopes are on the tables around the church. CCSEM replaces the former collection called Campaign for Human Development.

You may learn more about CCSEM at www.ccsem.org or 855-882-2736.
