Personal profile

A result-driven professional in the Energy Industry with 30 years of experience in different areas of business, particularly in Oil, products trading where has built a large and complex business relations network. He possesses an extensive and wide trading expertise with remarkable results in Crude Oil, Products, Specialties, Chemicals, Logistics, Business Development. He has Midstream and Downstream wide experience and excellent knowledge of Upstream and E&P operations. He has gained a significant experience in advising and supporting management decisions on commercial issues by means of specific studies and analysis and acquired important presentation skills due to several conferences attended as official speaker. Mario was appointed Business Tutor of the Executive Master in Energy Resources and Global Environmental Strategies (EMERGES) at the Luiss Business School. He is also a Chartered Engineer specialized in energy efficiency and Court-Appointed Expert and Technical Advisor for litigations concerning the energy industry. A degree in Mechanical Engineering, several appointments a consultant in energy issues and some years spent in the offshore oil construction industry complete his profile.

Business development and origination coordinator Januay 2015 – to date

Eni spa – Refining & Marketing - Oil and products inland sales

R esponsibility to determine and execute a new strategy for the disposal of Propylene (Polymer and Chemical grade) aiming to enhance company’s profitability and widen company’s portfolio of clients. Responsible for bitumen domestic sales to Oil Industries. Commercial support for the optimization of sulphur and heavy international sales.

Business Development & Integrated projects coordinator 2011 - 2014 Trading & Shipping – Crude oil trading.

Main projects:

• Upstream, downstream medium / long term business opportunity origination, search and assessment. Optimization of Company’s assets utilization and supply chain. Origination of asset backed trading opportunities. • Caspian sea (Turkmenistan crude oil and products disposal): Market intelligence, inter-company coordination (upstream - trading - downstream), business case definition, model implementation, project management, logistics optimization and commercial support to trading desk; • African Market: special project aiming to analyse local markets (North, West, South and East Africa), identify business opportunity, establish a network of commercial relationship in order to enhance trading activity in the area.

Main tasks: • Equity sales and trading of proprietary crude oil. Commercial support to upstream operations in Kazakiystan, Algeria, Lybia, Egypt, Tunisia. • Supply and optimization of crude oil demand (600 kb/day, areas of supply: Saudi Arabia, Russia, Kazakiystan, Azerbajian, Syria, Egypt, Iran, ); • Leading and training of a group of 3 traders. • Management of term contract with Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Lybia, Syria, Azerbaijan. • Risk management of price exposure.

Manager Mediterranean crude oil desk 1994 – 2007 Agip Petroli S.p.a. (Rome) – Crude oil supply & trading

Main tasks:

• Sales of Eni equity production in , Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt and acquisition of crude oil on term and spot basis (Saudi Arabia, Russia, Kazakiystan, Azerbajian, Syria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Abu Dhabi) for the supply of Agip refineries; • Commercial support to Eni upstream in the above mentioned countries; • Trading of proprietary crude oil aiming at the maximization of desk’s performance;

• Risk management of price exposure.

Crude oil trader. Agip U.K. (London). 1990 – 1994

Main tasks: • Market analysis, scouting and trading. Followed market development in the region, opening of new outlets for the Company growing equity production, commercial coordination of London / Singapore and Houston regional trading offices. • Providing supply operations with necessary support in order to secure suitable crude oil grades respecting very strict economic, logistics and technical constrains. • Management of P&L aiming at the reduction of price risk exposure by means of operational / price adjustment and correction. • Development of important synergies, swaps and commercial /logistics optimization amongst different companies of the ENI group and third parties. • Issued studies related to market development and statistics on supply pattern in the Mediterranean basin

Planning and construction of steel structure and plants. Responsibility for maintenance, testing, accident prevention and safety.

Assistant Project manager / Commercial manager, 1985 - 1986 Sub Sea Oil Services S.p.A (Rrepublic of Congo - Italy) Followed several projects involving offshore oil platforms revamping/construction in Italy and abroad. Amongst other, it’s worth mentioning the Engineering, work scheduling and project management for the revamping of the Agip’s offshore oil platforms in the Congo.
