2018 VINTNER’S RESERVE
The Veritas Reserve is the flagship in our fleet of Veritas red blends. The Veritas Reserve is made through an intense sampling process of all of the barrels in the cellar to decide the perfect master blend. The 2018 Vintage of our Reserve came together quite nicely as in a challenging vintage the star pieces shine bright. This Reserve had a lengthy barrel ageing with a slightly shorter bottle ageing regime due to the vintage. Softer tannins due to the wetter vintage allowed this wine to mellow and find good structure early.
Our Reserve blend consists of 47% Cabernet Franc, 29% Petit Verdot, 12% Merlot and 12% Malbec. It is deep garnet in color and the bouquet is a deeply integrated balance of leather enveloped in an aroma of fresh black fruit. Luscious flavors of blackberry unfold with rich tannins on the palate leaving a structured and elegant finish accentuated with complex flavors of caramel and mocha from a high proportion of new barrel aging. The 2018 Reserve spent 15 months in French oak, which adds more richness and balance to stand further cellaring. Drink now or age until 2023. Reserve is a perfect wine to enjoy with any red meat from Filet Mignon to Rib Eye, Venison or lamb.
