Women in Hadith Women Bukhari Women/woman/girl/female/um/ bint/daughter Total words: 117,704 Volume 1, Book 2, Number 28: The Prophet said: "I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful." It was asked, "Do they disbelieve in Allah?" (or are they ungrateful to Allah?) He replied, "They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. If you have always been good (benevolent) to one of them and then she sees something in you (not of her liking), she will say, 'I have never received any good from you." Volume 1, Book 3, Number 81: Narrated Anas: I will narrate to you a Hadith and none other than I will tell you about after it. I heard Allah's Apostle saying: From among the portents of the Hour are (the following): 1. Religious knowledge will decrease (by the death of religious learned men). 2. Religious ignorance will prevail. 3. There will be prevalence of open illegal sexual intercourse. 3. Drinking of Alcoholic drinks (will be very common). 4. Women will increase in number and men will decrease in number so much so that fifty women will be looked after by one man. Volume 1, Book 3, Number 97g: Once Allah's Apostle came out while Bilal was accompanying him. He went towards the women thinking that they had not heard him (i.e. his sermon). So he preached them and ordered them to pay alms. (Hearing that) the women started giving alms; some donated their ear-rings, some gave their rings and Bilal was collecting them in the corner of his garment. Volume 1, Book 3, Number 101: Some women requested the Prophet to fix a day for them as the men were taking all his time. On that he promised them one day for religious lessons and commandments. Once during such a lesson the Prophet said, "A woman whose three children die will be shielded by them from the Hell fire." On that a woman asked, "If only two die?" He replied, "Even two (will shield her from the Hell-fire)." Volume 1, Book 4, Number 148: The wives of the Prophet used to go to Al-Manasi, a vast open place (near Baqia at Medina) to answer the call of nature at night. 'Umar used to say to the Prophet "Let your wives be veiled," but Allah's Apostle did not do so. One night Sauda bint Zam'a the wife of the Prophet went out at 'Isha' time and she was a tall lady. 'Umar addressed her and said, "I have recognized you, O Sauda." He said so, as he desired eagerly that the verses of Al-Hijab (the observing of veils by the Muslim women) may be revealed. So Allah revealed the verses of "Al-Hijab" (A complete body cover excluding the eyes). Volume 1, Book 6, Number 301: Once Allah's Apostle went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) o 'Id-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the women and said, "O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)." They asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Apostle ?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." The women asked, "O Allah's Apostle! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her religion." Volume 1, Book 6, Number 321: Hafsa said, 'We used to forbid our young women to go out for the two 'Id prayers. A woman came and stayed at the palace of Bani Khalaf and she narrated about her sister whose husband took part in twelve holy battles along with the Prophet and her sister was with her husband in six (out of these twelve). She (the woman's sister) said, "We used to treat the wounded, look after the patients and once I asked the Prophet, 'Is there any harm for any of us to stay at home if she doesn't have a veil?' He said, 'She should cover herself with the veil of her companion and should participate in the good deeds and in the religious gathering of the Muslims.' When Um 'Atiya came I asked her whether she had heard it from the Prophet. She replied, "Yes. May my father be sacrificed for him (the Prophet)! (Whenever she mentioned the Prophet she used to say, 'May my father be sacrificed for him) I have heard the Prophet saying, 'The unmarried young virgins and the mature girl who stay often screened or the young unmarried virgins who often stay screened and the menstruating women should come out and participate in the good deeds as well as the religious gathering of the faithful believers but the menstruating women should keep away from the Musalla (praying place).' " Hafsa asked Um 'Atiya surprisingly, "Do you say the menstruating women?" She replied, "Doesn't a menstruating woman attend 'Arafat (Hajj) and such and such (other deeds)?" Volume 1, Book 8, Number 358: Narrated Sahl: The men used to pray with the Prophet with their Izars tied around their necks as boys used to do; therefore the Prophet told the women not to raise their heads till the men sat down straight (while praying). Volume 1, Book 8, Number 368: Narrated 'Aisha: Allah's Apostle used to offer the Fajr prayer and some believing women covered with their veiling sheets used to attend the Fajr prayer with him and then they would return to their homes unrecognized . Volume 1, Book 8, Number 395: Narrated 'Umar (bin Al-Khattab): My Lord agreed with me in three things: 1. I said,"O Allah's Apostle, I wish we took the station of Abraham as our praying place (for some of our prayers). So came the Divine Inspiration: And take you (people) the station of Abraham as a place of prayer (for some of your prayers e.g. two Rakat of Tawaf of Ka'ba)". (2.125) 2. And as regards the (verse of) the veiling of the women, I said, 'O Allah's Apostle! I wish you ordered your wives to cover themselves from the men because good and bad ones talk to them.' So the verse of the veiling of the women was revealed. 3. Once the wives of the Prophet made a united front against the Prophet and I said to them, 'It may be if he (the Prophet) divorced you, (all) that his Lord (Allah) will give him instead of you wives better than you.' So this verse (the same as I had said) was revealed." (66.5). Volume 1, Book 8, Number 465: Narrated 'Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) I had seen my parents following Islam since I attained the age of puberty. Not a day passed but the Prophet visited us, both in the mornings and evenings. My father Abii Bakr thought of building a mosque in the courtyard of his house and he did so. He used to pray and recite the Qur'an in it. The pagan women and their children used to stand by him and look at him with surprise. Abu Bakr was a Softhearted person and could not help weeping while reciting the Quran. The chiefs of the Quraish pagans became afraid of that (i.e. that their children and women might be affected by the recitation of Quran)." Volume 1, Book 9, Number 474: Narrated 'Aun bin Abi Juhaifa: I heard my father saying, "The Prophet led us, and prayed a two-Rak'at Zuhr prayer and then a two-Rak'at 'Asr prayer at Al-Batha' with an 'Anza (planted) in front of him (as a Sutra) while women and donkeys were passing in front of him (beyond that 'Anza)." Volume 1, Book 9, Number 478: Narrated 'Aun bin Abi Juhaifa: that he had heard his father saying, "Allah's Apostle came to us at mid-day and water was brought for his ablution. He performed ablution and led us in Zuhr and 'Asr prayers with an 'Anza planted in front of him (as a Sutra), while women and donkeys were passing beyond it." Volume 1, Book 9, Number 486: Narrated 'Aisha: Do you make us (women) equal to dogs and donkeys? While I used to lie in my bed, the Prophet would come and pray facing the middle of the bed. I used to consider it not good to stand in front of him in his prayers. So I used to slip away slowly and quietly from the foot of the bed till I got out of my guilt. 2 Volume 1, Book 9, Number 490: Narrated 'Aisha: The things which annul the prayers were mentioned before me. They said, "Prayer is annulled by a dog, a donkey and a woman (if they pass in front of the praying people)." I said, "You have made us (i.e. women) dogs. I saw the Prophet praying while I used to lie in my bed between him and the Qibla.

Hamed Suliman Abuthawabeh, MA Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, Jordan Doi:10.19044/esj.2019.v15n26p139 URL:http://dx.doi.org/10.19044/esj.2019.v15n26p139 Abstract Several English writers from different literary periods, including the medieval and the Renaissance literature portray the people coming from the Arabian Desert in the frame of racial and religious otherness. Most writings stress the danger of those people by describing them as people whose only goal is to fight and kill Christians in order to conquer their lands, destroy their churches and force them to convert to Islam. Furthermore, the writers avoided calling those people by their national name, Arabs, or even by their religious name, Muslims. They used the name of Saracens instead. This study explores the etymology of the name of Saracens as well as the reasons why this name was used to describe most peoples who come from Middle East. The research also points out the relationship between the name of Saracens and the skin color as a major characteristic that distinguishes Arabs and most Muslims from European people. The findings of this research are very important in part because they are a contribution to the etymological studies of the name of Saracen, and in part because they clarify the real reasons why Arabs and Muslims were called Saracens by the medieval and Renaissance writers.

  • CLPE Teaching Notes for the Proudest Blue
Teaching Notes for THE PROUDEST BLUE A Story of Hijab and Family Written by Ibtihaj Muhammad with S. K. Ali and illustrated by Hatem Aly Published by Andersen Press These notes have been written by the teachers at the CLPE to provide schools with ideas to develop comprehension and cross-curricular activities around this text. They build on our work supporting teachers to use picture books to enhance critical thinking and develop creative approaches in art and writing. They encourage a deep reading of and reflection on the text, which may happen over a series of reading sessions, rather than in just one sitting. We hope you find them useful. The concepts explored in the book and these teaching notes are more suitable for children aged 7+. Pre-reading Preparations: In order for these teaching notes to work most effectively, you will need to ‘keep back’ the text from the children initially and not show them the cover or the title of the book. It would be a good idea to cover the front with sugar or brown paper until the title is revealed. It is advised that you create a class reading journal by stapling large pieces of folded sugar paper. The pages of the journal will provide a space in which to capture thoughts, feelings and discussions about the book. Reading aloud and key talking points: • Before you begin to read the book, cut a circle in the wrapping paper of the front cover to reveal a part of the blue colour that features on the front cover.

The Role Of The Women In Fighting The Enemies [Please note: Images may have been removed from this document. Page numbers have been added.] By the martyred Shaykh, Al-Hafith Yusuf Bin Salih Al-‘Uyayri (May Allah have Mercy upon him) Introduction In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Most Merciful Verily all praise is due to Allah, and may the Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family and all of his companions. To proceed: My honoured sister, Indeed for you is an important and great role; and you must rise and fulfill your obligatory role in Islam 's confrontation of the new Crusade being waged by all the countries of the world against Islam and the Muslims. I will address you in these papers, and I will prolong this address due only to the importance of the topic; [a topic] that is in need of double these papers. So listen, may Allah protect and preserve you. The Muslim Ummah today is suffering from types of disgrace and humiliation that cannot be enumerated; [disgrace and humiliation] that it was not familiar with in its previous eras, and were never as widespread as they are today. And this disgrace and humiliation is not a result of the smallness of the Islamic Ummah or its poverty - it is counted as the largest Ummah today, just as it is the only Ummah that possesses the riches and elements that its enemies do not possess. And the question that presents itself is: what is the reason for this disgrace and humiliation that the Ummah suffers from today, when it is not in need of money or men? We say that

  • The Iqta' System of Iraq Under the Buwayhids Tsugitaka Sato
THE IQTA' SYSTEM OF IRAQ UNDER THE BUWAYHIDS TSUGITAKA SATO* In 334 A. H. (946 A.D.), having established his authority in Baghdad, Mu'izz al-Dawla granted iqta's in the Sawad to his commanders, his asso- ciates, and his Turks. This is the formation of the so-called "military" iqta' system in the Islamic history. The appearance of the military iqta's brought about not only the evolution of the Islamic state, but also the transformation of the Iraqi society during the 10-11th centuries and of the other countries in the following periods. Nizam al-Mulk understood this as the change from bistagan (cash pay) to iqta',(1) while al-Maqrizi described as the change from 'ata' to iqta' in the same meaning.(2) As for the iqta' system under the Buwayhids, H. F. Amedroz first translated the Miskawayh's text into English with annotations,(3) and then C. H. Becker tried to realize the iqta' system in the history of 'Lehen' from the early Islamic period to the Ottoman Turks.(4) A. A, al-Duri, who studied the economic history of the Buwayhid Iraq, made clear the character of iqta' comparing it with milk (private land) and waqf, though the reality of iqta' holding remained to be investigated in future.(5) On the other hand, Cl. Cahen published the general survey of iqta' in the history of the Islamic land holding, which gave us usefull informations concerning the right and obligation of soldiers, and the fall of peasants by way of himaya (protection) and the loan at high interest.(6) We also find the general description of iqta' in the study of H.

  • Twelve Years Old, While Some Say He Was Eighteen Years Old
SANKORE' Institute of Islamic - African Studies International www.siiasi.org ! " ! Kitaab ‘l-Jihaad (The Book of Military Struggle) 1 1 The etymological root of the word ‘jihaad ’ (military struggle) is from the expression ‘exertion’ ( jahd) which means hardship ( mashaqqa ) and energetic capability ( taaqa ). According to the shari`a it means waging combat and fighting against enemies, which comprises the exertion and emission of utmost capacity in war, or words, or what is connected to it. The one who struggles ( jaahid ) against the enemy, is a mujaahid and jihaad is his actual combat; thus he is the one who struggles in the Way of Allah. Allah ta`ala says: “ …if indeed you go out in jihaad in My Way seeking My pleasure .” Allah ta`ala says: “Say: if your fathers, sons, brothers, wives, relatives, the wealth you have acquired, the merchandise for which you fear loss, and dwellings you desire are more dearer to you than Allah, His Messenger and jihaad in His Way ”; that is in giving victory to the religion of Allah and adhering to His pleasure. This is evidence of the merits of jihaad , and it taking preference over all the things which bring comfort to the soul and its attachments to family and wealth. In the two above cited Qur’anic verses is clear proof against the collaborators in these times who falsely claim that the expression ‘ jihaad ’ is not utilized in the Qur’an in the context of combat and military. Realize, that this claim is a lie from the lower soul, and is taking reliance upon false interpretation ( ta'wil baatil ).

  • The Nature of Riba in Islam
THE NATURE OF RIBA IN ISLAM By: M. Umer Chapra1 Abstrak Perdebatan masalah riba seperti tidak pernah selesai di diskusikan oleh banyak kalangan, baik akademis, organisasi keagamaan, bahkan sampai pada forum-forum intenasional. ŭ ΊņĨŧ Ώ 1 ΎỲŏΉė ΞΊẂ ĤΣΔĜŧ ΔΩė ĥ ĜẃΐĨľė Έ΅ Ή ģŊΜūΕ╬ė ĥ ĜΡĜỳΉė ΎΙā ŋķā ĤΡŊĜųĨ⅝Ϋė – ĤΣẂĜΐĨį Ϋė ĤΉėŋẃΉė ŋẃħ ĥ ĜẃΐĨĴ ΐΊΉ ĤĢŧ ΕΉĜġΛ .ĤΡĜỳΉė ΖōΙ ⅜Σ⅞ĸĨΉ ĤẃĢĨ╬ė ĥ ĜΣĴ ΣħėŏĨŦΫė ∟ ĥ ĜẃΐĨľė Ίħ ╚ġ ‛ άĨŅė ŊΜį Λ ΒΏ ĤΣĴ ΣħėŏĨŦΫė Ίħ ŏŲĜΕẂ ŋķā ΞΊẂ ⅜₤ėΜħ Ĥ╤ ªΌάŦΩėΛ ĤΣΔėŏųΕΉėΛ ĤΡŊΜΚΣΉėΛ ĤΣŦΛŋΕ▀ė ŭ ŅΧė ΞΊẂΛ ªĤΣΕΡŋΉė Η╠ė ŋ⅝ ⌠ΛΧė ĤīάĬΉė ĥ ĜΔĜΡŋΉė ẀĜĢħā ΒΏ ♥ė╙Ģ΄ ♥ĜĢΔĜį ΑĜ΄ ėŌċΛ .ŊΜ⅞ΕΉė Ŵėŏ⅝ċ ΒẂ ĤΊųĸĨ╬ė ģŋĕĜ℮Ήė ┐ŏ╡ ΜΙΛ ĜΏ ΑĈġ ĤΉŊĜľė ΑΜΉΛĜ► ΝŏŅΧė ĥ ĜΔĜΡŋΉė ẀĜĢħĈġ ΠŦĈĨΉė ∟ ╚ĢỲėŏΉė ╚ΐΊŧ ╬ė

Report Marriages in Muhammad's tribe Introduction A database for given project was provided by Dr. Majied Robinson with the title "Marriages in Muhammad's tribe". The database was represented in multiple tables, such as "Marriage Database", which is the main dataset with all the data and multiple sub-databases for every tribe and clan represented there (e.g. "Qurayshi marriages by clan"). The information of marriages in pre-Islamic and early Islamic period were classified by tribes or clans (subtribes). Aside from basic information such as names of men and women, tribes(subtribes) of both of them, number of children they had, generations of men and women were also indicated (Figure 1). Figure 1. "Marriages in Muhammad's tribe" excel table th By the information provided from dataholder the 5 generation is the generation of Muhammad, th th which means generations before 5 belong to pre-Islamic period while those after 5 belong to early Islamic period. The main interest of dataholder was the question how marriage traditions could affect politics at that time or how otherwise political and social factors probably had an impact on marriage traditions and behaviour. Context Basically, we did not intend to explore every detail of every clan in Quraysh tribe that is presented in our database, but to mainly focus on the major and the most powerful and influential clans which were the rulers of first arabic kingdoms (caliphates): Umayyads and Hashemite. The reason why we chose them is the fact that a lot of historical sources argue that they were so called sworn enemies.

  • Fatimah Bint Al-Khattab the Sister of Umar Ibn Al-Khattab (May Allah Be Pleased with Them)
Lessons From the Lives of the Sahabiyaat (Lesson 4) Fatimah bint al-Khattab The Sister of Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with them) A Woman of High Status One of the excellent qualities of Fatimah bint al-Khattab is that her story is always mentioned whenever the story of her brother, Umar's Islam is narrated. She was the sister of Umar and the wife if Sa'eed ibn Zayd (radhiAllahu anhu), a great Companion and one of the ten who were given the glad tiding of Paradise.
